"Do not swear your allegiance to the Franchise; dedicate yourself instead to kindness and goodness, and everything else will follow," Green mused, as if he could read the depths of Yvette's dedication. He stood up, stretching his arms upwards after what seemed like an hour of sitting down. "My mentor Bryce told me this eloquent phrase," he explained, yawning slightly afterwards. "He's doing janitor work somewhere out there, I know it."
Pocketing his writing utensils, he turned to face the giant moose head on the wall. "Ma'am, if I could have your attention for a few seconds," he told Yvette.
Green jumped high for a man who was short and pudgy. He pulled on the moose's right antler with both of his hands, and succeeded in breaking it at the base. Upon closer inspection, one could see that the break was clean and sterile, and that the moose antler was a taxidermical lever.
And the lever dipped downwards as Mr. Green pulled. A sharp scrape of iron rang out from behind the Victorian-era wallpaper hosting Lenny's faithful moose head. The square wall was parted seamlessly down the middle, with the exception of the mounted head, whose plate stuck onto the wall to Mr. Green and Yvette's right. The walls slowly opened forwards, revealing...
Mr. Green looked on, half-amazed. Duke's secret wall was always a treat to watch unfold. There was a glass tube behind it, latched to the floor. Surrounding the tube were various panels and switches, perhaps linked to the tube itself. Inside the tube was a cylindrical metal pod that could fit a person of up to eight feet inside. A thin plexiglass door separated the pod and the outside world. It looked like a 50's or 60's retrofuture elevator.
The sign at the very top of the tube, in bright red lettering, read: "N0072 - OKAY TRANSPORT CHUTE".
Turning over to Yvette one more time, Green asked, "When do you want to begin your job, Miss...? I beg your pardon, I didn't get your last name."

Yvette took the words to heart, realizing that Mr. Green's mentor had been wise, though his comment about Bryce being a janitor somewhere intrigued her.
Still, she said nothing but was surprised into standing as well when Green leapt for the moose's antler and...broke it? No, not exactly. It was a lever. She gasped in surprise, her face glowing with excitement as she watched the hidden door open.
"Wow," she breathed, impressed. No wonder he'd staged an interview here. "And it's Wells. Yvette Wells. And I guess I'm ready to start--the sooner the better, right? Unless I should change first." She read the brightly lit lettering along the tope of the tube and felt her heart race.

"No pressure," Green said. "If you are not ready to travel down to the Central Core of operations today, perhaps alternative arrangements would be in order, yes? But anyways: this is part of our larger transport chute system, ma'am. We have...so many of these all over the world. And it costs a fortune to maintain, too, with funds and donations from our friends and freelancers. But yes, we have many of these chutes available for transport. If you do not wish to take the transport chute today, we will end the interview here and you can be on your merry way. But! Before I can let that happen..."
He jammed his big left hand in his small left pants pocket, rummaging fiercely through its metallic contents. It took him four seconds to find a small, rectangular device, similar to today's cellphones the youngsters all had. The gloss was dark blue; an orange button was located bottom center on one side of the device.
"This is your communicator," explained Green, moving towards Yvette to display the device. "It allows you to keep up to date on the latest events and opportunities processed through OKAY's newsfeed. Using our encrypted network, you will be able to locate most, if not all of the transport chutes. You will also be able to find other OKAY employees within your vicinity."
He pressed the button and the device unfolded; a small LCD, active with a warm blue screensaver, dominated the top half of the device, while a small keyboard filled out the bottom.
"You will have to get this registered with the Franchise if other people want to recognize you through their communicators," Green informed. "But other than that, yes, this communicator is vital for your freelancing."
