In the small town of Flossy, where the pristine white ferry was docked on the long, wooden pier. The Pokemon flying around it in the breeze, the young trainers of well-to-do families excited about their first Pokemon, and the ice-cream stand offering free samples along the beach side. It was a beautiful day in Flossy Town!

The local gym doors opened and the son of the gym leader was well on his way with a ferry ticket from his father in his pocket. The store was bustling with the produce of the nearby farmlands, and several volunteer sweepers were sweeping the few streets. When the gym leader's son came into their view, they waved and greeted him with the utmost respect. His father had said that Whalerdrake would be a great learning opportunity for him, but didn't say why.

Meanwhile, a tall, young fellow by the name of Jay was likely just outside the practice grounds overlooking the docks and the baseball field. Several youngsters were training their Pokemon by battling in friendly competitions, their parents talking about the recent soil rotations that have been proven efficient for turnips and other boring adult stuff, while they sat on a bench.

The youngsters were in the middle of the sandy area, with its white lines drawn down the middle. A Pokeball shape marked the center of the practice field and the Pokemon center was across the road from it. The cool, salty breeze of the ocean kept the town cool, even in the summer heat.

The young lads all stopped to watch the older Jay practice with his Bee, all gawking in awe, "Wow, that's so cool!" All of the bug-catcher wannabes soon formed a small crowd as Bee went through his drills (ha, puns). One of the youngsters, wearing a green cap and white and blue shirt and shorts, exclaimed to the others, "When my Kakuna evolves, he'll be just as cool!"

The very young trainers all agreed and continued watching for some time, before they got fired up to train even harder and mimicked the training session off on the other side of the field. As Jay finished, it was clear that the youngsters weren't the only ones watching him. On the grass, there stood the local gym leader's son. He was practically a local celebrity and making his acquaintance could only be beneficial, especially if Jay ever had the inclination to challenge Flossy Town's gym..
The trainer that was instructing his Beedrill now seemed to be lost in thought. He was standing in the field well after the younger trainers left, and if he had just a little bit of assistance...

Crimson had a ferry to catch, eventually, though. It was truly up to him if he wanted to offer a hand like a friendly neighbor, or tend to his own boat, as it were.

In either case, Jay's pokedex beeped loudly with a notification that read: "Rare Pokemon sighting at Mt. Blackcloud!" Crimson's pokedex also beeped with the same notification, but the sending was anonymous. Mt. Blackcloud was famous for its soot covered grass and the hotsprings that visitors liked to brag about. It was only two routes away, but the trainers of the Burning Bridge rarely let anyone pass without a proper challenge.
Crimson scooted so quickly away from Jay's sight after the alert! He was -gone-! This left Jay without help, but all that thinking bore fruit! Why, if he wanted to know what Pokemon a gym leader used, he could go to the gym and ask anyone inside. Gym leaders wanted to see trainers succeed, but also wanted to provide a fair challenge in preparation for the Elite Four.

There was also the thought of capturing another Pokemon. Standing around on the training field wouldn't catch him any Pokemon, nor would he find out what Pokemon he would catch. Just by looking over the happy little houses, Jay could see the nicely kept forest pathway. Surely, there would be Pokemon in the park-like area! He would have to be brave and venture into the unknown to find them!
Meanwhile, along Park Way, Crimson and his Pokemon traveled along the smoothly paved walkway. The neatly trimmed trees and bushes were along the sides as natural decorations. Bicyclists were bustling about, waving and laughing between each other.

Quite a bit of Pokemon were within sight. In the zones dedicated for Pokemon to gather, conveniently across the way from picnic tables, there were several different feeders that attracted the local Pokemon. Currently, there were a pair of Cacnea walking around a feeder, a Durant patiently waiting for them to stop nearby, and a Pumpkaboo that was phasing through a tree underneath a Pineco.
