For the most part, your characters can be as free form and unique as you would like them to be- I just have simple guidlines for you to follow to ensure that your character matches up with the plot.

I will start by explaining in a little more detail the species within the RP:

1. Humans
As simple as that. Humans. Nothing more, nothing less.

2. Ravens

Ravens are a nickname given to the creatures that come out of the abyss. Ravens come in many shapes and sizes- some resemble earth animals, such as tigers, whales, Eagles, worms, rats, mosquitos, you name it- also coming in varying sizes, so there could be an average sized Raven that somewhat resembles a tiger, and then a car sized Raven that resembles a fly, for examples.

Some Ravens even resemble... Absolutely nothing that can be familiarized. It could be an actual gelatinous blob that dissolves people, for example.

Then there are Ravens that can resemble fictional creatures- such as dragons, fairies, Craken, etc.

The only thing that separates a Raven from any other animal is their colour- Ravens have only ever been observed as shades of black, reds and browns. Larger ones tend to shift more to a dark blue spectrum. And they are very disheveled, messy, bloody things. Very unpleasant to look at.

3. Crows

Crows are the taboo among the world. They are ones who've been attacked by Ravens, but lived to tell the tale. It has been witnessed multiple times a seemingly innocent, healthy-looking person going berserk in a city and transforming horrifically, gorily, painfully into a creature that resembles neither human nor Raven. Typically, when in this Crow state, a person cannot control their actions or their impulses, and in most cases the end product of their appearance is a warped awful mesh of the Raven and the Human.

In other cases, in people who have more control over their Crow, their end transformation is much more neater, more vivid and much, much stronger than the Raven that had originally attacked them. As well, a person's crow will always resemble the Raven that was their attacker. And the transformation process is extremely, incredibly and unbelievably painful- it takes a few hours for one person to recuperate after an 'episode' wherein their Crow comes out.
