One quiet night...
The guards stood watch at the air docks outside the castle. Well, one of them stood watch, and the others slept or drank.
It began with a strange family arriving by Scarhawk, a group of drunkards and, apparently, whores caused a minor ruckus as they got off their hawks. A small otter child, Kay Mismatch, quickly set about stealing whatever he could get his little paws on, but most notably the alarm horns carried by sleeping and waking guards. Between the scantily clad femmes and the drunken visitors, the guards were, for a time, quite thoroughly distracted.
A flash of lightning, a rumble of thunder.
It was too accurate to be a coincidence, and there were no rainclouds. That was the first indication that something was wrong. A guard was fried in his armour, extra crispy. Then from under tantalizing folds of fabric, knives coated with paralytic poison suddenly whirled. The femmes, Anastacia, and Caitir Britta slew the lecherous guards surrounding them. There was a thunk, in followup to Narsuun's lightning spell Git Phelen knocked the watch commander from the high cliffs to the rocks below.
Alarms sounded too late.
The garrison commander Theodore, or 'Rip' appeared with a small group of men still loyal to the former Lord Narsuun. He was quickly surrounded, and then rescued in the strangest of manners. Two very small bunnies brought terrible magic to bear. Aisling Biwit summoned an army of bees that got into nooks and gaps in armour, seeking skin to sting and torment. Many of her swarms died for the cause. Kasteo Lor turned the very ground its self against the castle's defenders, sucking them into bogs and pits. As the castle's disorganized garrison attempted to regroup and repel the invaders, an airship docked, and delivered the final blow of the battle.
The Retribution.
Guns blazed as the warship docked, firing a payload against the gathered defenders. With the canon crews at the docks killed by the advance party, there was little resistance to the airship's approach. The captain, Raefaelin made good on her word and delivered re-enforcements at the right time. The guns of her ship softened up the briefly rallying castle soldiers, and the captain's timing was clockwork perfect. Raefaelin struck the final blow of the battle, unleashing...
Bloodmane.
What came from the deck of The Retribution was terror. A large black furred lioness lead a group of soldiers, her face painted white with a skull, her shocking red hair billowing behind her as she charged the keep's gates, held open by Git Phelen's magic. Syrinna felled many a soldier and left death and gore in her wake. As she lead the charge, she was joined by a madly cursing Caitir. The two made quite a pair, shouting and cleaving their way through those defenders that did not surrender on the spot.
In the aftermath, there was some disagreement about what to call the panther. Some referred to her as the red devil, others as the shadow of death, but eventually a shorter name became popular amung the soldiers who survived the battle. Those who had faced her and lived called her Syrinna the Bloodmane.
With the final blow, the very short battle was won. Scarhawk Castle is now under new management. Lord Narsuun has returned.
