Wood prices soar!

Due to long periods of mismanagement, many of the castle's resources are dangerously low. One of the island's most critical resources are the local trees. Cutting them down locally is much easier than hauling wood in from across the lake. The woods are currently being inspected, and until the proper extent of the damage done to the island's ecosystem is discovered, the cutting of trees by anyone not licensed by the castle is forbidden. The sale of local wood has been strictly controlled, and so construction projects will have to bear the extra expense of shipping wood to the castle.
Mines open, crystal discovered!

In an effort to make the economy more self-sustaining, workers have been digging out a mine shaft close to the quarry. Prospectors discovered iron rich veins of rock, but there was also an unexpected discovery. Crystal formations growing through the rock like great roots. The first attempts to mine this crystal were unsuccessful, many picks were shattered. Mages are currently inspecting the mines to devise a way of gathering this resource, which could be a significant boon to the economy.
Wood prices stabilize!

With the fungus monster and undead cleared out of the forest, the trees are starting to recover. With the help of earth mages, and the druid Phelen, the island's forests are returning to a healthy population. Some of the logging restrictions have been lifted, and things appear to be returning to normal.
