Pascaal had been a royal pain in the arse through the entire interrogation process to the point that both Captains had given up and placed him back in the holding cells below the barracks. He'd be transferred to prison the next day (Or so they all thought, heheh!) but right now while he was waiting? he was bored. The half-fae fellow paced his cell while whistling obnoxiously.
He occasionally made his way to the cell bars to look out, but backed off and scrunched up his face at the iron. Hmph, it might not make him feel sick like it would with a full blooded fae but it still would hurt to touch it directly.
Rook — 02/28/2021
Being on cell-duty was usually the most boring of the jobs, but Jack brought a couple books and a bottle. Likely not of coffee or anything normal, given what he was - no one would really say much, outside the more racist folks. And really, it was either he did that or someone dealt with a hungry vampire before dawn.
He'd take over for the day-guard and waved a goodbye, tossing his hat onto one of the tables. Whatever files were available on the current lot were thumbed through. Some drunks, waiting for their state to wear off, and...a Pascaal. "Hmmm, I've heard of you." Jack said, as he walks past the cells to check on everyone there.
Degu — 02/28/2021
Pascaal heard someone coming and perked up, turning to look over his shoulder towards the bars. He blinked at the unfamiliar guard and grinned toothily, heading over closer, getting as close to the bars as he could without touching them. He rested his hands on his hips and tilted his head upwards "Well hello there handsome, I don't think we've met... " he winked with an impish grin "All good things, I'm sure." he commented to Jack saying he'd heard of him.
"Why don't you come in here and get better acquainted with me, hm?" he added suggestively, quirking a brow invitingly.
Rook — 02/28/2021
"No, I'm relatively new." Jack was sure the uniform would display he was new to the job as well. He went over the file meticulously out of curiosity and eventually put it back, dusting his hands off. "That's one of the weakest attempts to try to trick me. You'll find my interest in strangers lacking."
Still the vampire leaned into the bars separating them and watched the half-fae briefly. "Got away with something, didn't you? A shame you might be at the prison...or chopping block. Doing your fae kin a favour, irritating this lot."
Degu — 02/28/2021
Pascaal giggled with a chimp-like flash of his teeth and a grin that passed almost ear to ear "Really, I'm hurt. I just like a man in armor." he purred and leaned into the wall, for lack of being able to lean forwards into the bars without getting a rash. "Oh I got away with more than you'll ever know, my friend. If you think I can be contained by a prison you're sorely mistaken~ Do you know how many times they've put me in here?" he giggled again, it was an INFURIATING sound.
"I'm not worried. The old guys can't keep up with me anyway."
Rook — 02/28/2021
"Is that why you're having them chase you, literally?" Jack asked with a laugh and as if oblivious to threats, he moved his arms between the bars to rest them atop a horizontal bar. "They might be a little more careful, you did get away with...whatever the item was."
Since he had been away, he hadn't really gotten a briefing...yet. "That sounds like elder abuse, you know."
Degu — 02/28/2021
"What can I say? I like being chased around by big burly men" he played it off casually and flicked his head as if to toss his hair back, though it was short. "I didn't get away at all! I'm here, aren't I? ...Would've preferred to go without the angry cavity search though" he pouted and spun around, idly pacing the cell as he moved away from the wall.
"Oh well, elders enjoy a little abuse. Me and the captain have a bit of a thing going. I run, he chases...you know how it is. The manticore was an interesting touch though" he hummed thoughtfully "Bazil Rayhan, I thought he was in a different part of the city... weird to see two captains working in the same area.... Captain Eberhardt must have been naughty~" he covered his mouth to chortle.
"No wonder he was so angry today."
Rook — 02/28/2021
"I wonder if he enjoys it, too. Being cranky and all, probably pent up. You might find yourself in a spot if it continues." Jack pointed out, though Pascaal moved and he'd pull his arms back to set his hands against the bars instead. "Like that for example." Oh, cavity searches. He was glad to avoid doing this.
"Partners, don't you know. That'll be more people put behind here now." He'd tap a couple knuckles to the bars and stepped back, as he retrieved one of his books. "He's always angry, guy lives for it, I'm sure."
Degu — 02/28/2021
Pascaal seemed to live for the ripping into Eberhardt, laughing even more loudly "Oh well, I suppose you're right. It's bound to happen eventually!" It wasn't "Poor old Eberhardt, when will he learn to lighten up?" he twirled lazily as he walked around, the cell was infuriatingly dull "He probably enjoyed it" he muttered.
"Partners, i can't picture him doing too well with a partner, he likes doing it his way... not that his way has ever kept me behind bars" he smirked proudly to himself, eyeing the bars as they were tapped. "You sound like you're at odds with the captain... let me guess, not a fan?"
Rook — 02/28/2021
"Seems like the sort. So tell me about you, then, I'm curious. Why Harpur?" Jack asked and he sat down, but glanced to the sounds of movement. One of the drunk lots stirring and nothing more. Maybe he'd extinguish some candles soon.
"Well, it'll either end well or it won't. Time will tell, but a partner means people aren't going to get fast ones on him all the time." He pointed out, as he opened up his book. "He doesn't like me, because of what I am. I am completely fine with his presence." A lie.
Degu — 02/28/2021
"Oh it's nothing personal! He's just the city center captain. Also a thorn in my side, but better the devil you know, hm?" he chortled "Now this new guy, Rayhan... I don't know him, he caught me off-guard. Colour me pleasantly surprised!" he piped cheerfully as if the thrill of a different kind of chase was a good one, like he was happy to have been captured for the first time in a while.
He tried to get a good look at the book, leaning into the bars but he used his shirt as a barrier. "You're okay with that? I find that hard to believe."
Rook — 02/28/2021
"Fair enough." Jack didn't know much about the other captain, outside his name and species. But, he made a point not to get friendly with them all, just to avoid having to concern himself with them. "I imagine he'll become a part of your daily life, if you manage to get out."
The book was of dragons, probably something rich and....racist. "I've dealt with many racists in my life, I've been a vampire for a very long time. Sometimes it's hard to remember, I don't even know what year this world would fall under in comparison. But...would it matter?"
Degu — 03/02/2021
"Please. I'm fae in this shithole! if we're talking prejudice just look how many horse shoes people have over their doors around here!" he chortled, though that laugh was a little more bitter.
"I will manage to get out. He already lost me a hundred times before" he rolled his eyes and smirked "Why did you become a guard?" he asked curiously and stepped away from the bars to pace again, idly twirling around.
Rook — 03/02/2021
"Yeah, I'm sure doing this is helping." Jack said in jest, but was soon up to set his book aside when one of those in the 'drunk tank' section requested something. He heard it clearly, and dug out a bottle of water, tossing it over to the other unfortunate prisoner.
"It'll get me citizenship easier, first off, and maybe I want to help the unfortunate inhuman folks." He replied, leaning into the bars and he'd raise an eyebrow. "Just ol' good intentions...and it doesn't require me to be up during the day." Yep, all good things.
Degu — 03/02/2021
"I supposeeee" he came back to the bars to watch the guard give water to the drunk guy a couple of cells over.
He sighed with boredom and walked over to the window and peered out at the night sky through the bars. He was a free spirit and moments of incarceration were frustrating.
"So boring."
He said and sank down onto the bed with a bored huff.
Rook — 03/02/2021
"You're telling me, this is hardly even one of my jobs." Jack said with a scoff, and watched as he wandered about, wrapping a couple fingers around one of the bars separating them. "Maybe you shouldn't have got caught, they might even make you wait longer to be sent somewhere else...and you'll have to be stuck with me until then."
As if that was a horrible thing. "You want a bottle of water or anything?"
Degu — 03/02/2021
"Listen, you're new here so you don't know a whole lot about me yet. Lecturing me isn't achieving anything." he laughed and folded his arms behind his head, stretching out lazily and wriggling his toes.
"Don't think I'm not enjoying the presence of a handsome man in armor though~ but only so much I can do with you, the distinct lack of flirting is a little exhausting" he sighed and examined his nails, finally perking up when he was offered water.
"Sure, if some good wine isn't available" he smirked.
Rook — 03/02/2021
"Oh, I was making fun of you honestly." Jack pointed out and straightened up, but held a hand out towards him. "I don't tend to flirt when I know a person is going to either be in a prison, executed or run off. It seems to be a waste of time if they're gone afterwards." But he also gestured to the other cells.
"If there was wine here, I wouldn't have brought a book." A bottle came and he held it through the bars to Pascall, staring at him for a moment. "It's still cold."
Degu — 03/02/2021
Pascaal snorted "Not doing a very good job of it then" he jabbed and swung his legs over the edge of the cot to head on over and take the bottle of water, careful of the iron bars. He drank fairly heavily and then handed it back "Thanks. And honestly, your loss...I'd just enjoy it If I were you, not like you have anything else going on down here tonight."
He threw a shrug up and walked back to the bed to collapse back into it "I'd best get my beauty sleep, then, if you aren't going to be any fun! After all, I'm probably going to be gone by tomorrow anyway."
Rook — 03/02/2021
Jack just watched as Pascaal sucked down the water and when he handed it over, the vampire 'accidently' touched his hand before 'correcting' himself to take the bottle. "Why should I enjoy it? Because you want the attention? Some fun? What's in it for me, really?"
He'd deal with the bottle and headed for his chair, since the half-fae seemed keen on sleeping. "Probably best. You'll need it for when you fuck up your grand escape."
Degu — 03/02/2021
For all but a brief moment he'd thought that touch might have been some attempt at flirtation, but he seemed to recognize rather easily what it actually had been and stared over at Jack with a smirk.
"Better be more careful who you do that to, friend... it'd be an awful shame if someone found out you were using it on prisoners." he seemed less friendly now, his smirk seemed more of a sneer. Apparently the fae hadn't appreciated the attempted invasion.
Rook — 03/02/2021
"I don't know what you're talking about." Jack said as he leaned into the back of his chair and offered any other prisoners looking his way a shrug, holding up his chin afterwards with his hands. "But, if you're going to threaten a guard, maaaaaybe don't do it after stealing. I mean, kind of low attempt at whatever blackmail you're trying."
Degu — 03/02/2021
Pascaal eyed him and shook his head, he became unresponsive after that and tried to sleep.
