Rook — 12/21/2020
It had been a quieter night, but most people got their stuff during the day and tended to prefer deliveries at night. The latter wasn't something he could really do at the moment, though it was likely he either got assistance from Niiamh or Liam provided Arron didn't mind. Quinne figured Arron wouldn't want to work the entire day, given he'd already worked the earlier hours. Everything had been prepped already, and the vampire mostly focused on tending to the occasional request and keeping things cleaned or salted.

After a very frustrating clean up, he decided to wind down by drawing. Even with just one arm, that came easy enough. The book rarely shifted, and Quinne could ignore the sounds of people walking by. No gossiping or staring atleast, not infront of him anyway.

Degu — 12/21/2020
Ganu made his way through the town that evening, having been gathering out on the eastern side of the city limits that evening. He was used to the way the mundies seemed a little unsettled by his size and his reflective eyes at night, but he had started making sure he was in the city more in order to perhaps desensitize the regular locals...at least around the market place.

Across his waist was a belt of pouches full of berries and different mushrooms, all in all the troll seemed pleased when he stopped by the butchers. He hadn't expected to see Quinne, not aware that he was back just yet but when he pushed through the door and ducked under the doorway he beamed "Quinne! I've missed you, my friend." his voice boomed and he shut the door behind him, walking over with big, heavy strides to reach around the vampire and pull him in for a hug. He hadn't seen from the angle but when his arm failed to go around an arm on the opposite side he'd withdraw his hand as if it had been burned.

A shimmer of light shot across his markings like lightning, eyes wide as he stared at the vampire in a stunned silence. He looked although he were flitting dramatically between anger at...whatever had done this, concern and sadness. The question he'd yet failed to ask was too obvious to need words.

Rook — 12/21/2020
Quinne looked up from his drawing when the door opened and the book was quickly tucked away somewhere, just incase it was a customer. Instead, a Ganu, though he still tucked the charcoal stick away in his apron. "And I, you. I missed everything about home." He mind Guildereim and everything it offered outside its main 'trade', but home had everything preferable.

The hug hadn't been unexpected, and he tried to ignore the phantom limb sensation that followed, but kept his other arm. Ganu's reaction wasn't given the usual annoyance he had been giving to strangers. "An accident...mostly." The vampire replied to that look, toying with a part of his cloak to fasten to his apron and hide the stump from view. "I've got plans for a replacement, it's just finding someone for it."

Degu — 12/21/2020
Ganu's expression finally settled on being saddened, head tilting as he tried to gauge the response Quinne needed in this moment and desperately tried to curb his protective rage. Taking a very deep breath in through his nostrils he slowly exhaled to center himself. When Quinne tried to hide it he reached out to lightly touch the man's wrist to suggest wordlessly that he didn't need to.

"I am sorry. I hope it does not hurt you terribly... " he glanced back towards the door to check they were alone and then back to Quinne "If you are not ready to talk about it, I will not ask you to...but I'd like to know how it happened, if you will share that with me." he finally reached out again to properly pull Quinne into a hug, squeezing him more tightly than he'd first intended to.

Rook — 12/21/2020
He took a moment to settle himself, though he hadn't expected anyone to come rushing into the butcher shop, atleast not someone he knew well. "It has its moments, especially when I'm asleep. I've gotten creative with pillow locations." Even if put more pillows than there was room for bodies after.

"It's...really nothing. It was a fight I set up, and this is the outcome. I overextended during a swing and they took advantage of that, and this is the result. It is more my fault than theirs." Quinne was adamant on that, because more people than Ganu had gotten angry and he didn't want to put the other person in a worse position than they deserved.

"I had gotten overconfident with my capabilities."

Degu — 12/22/2020
Ganu looked as despairing as any friend who wished they could have been there to prevent it, restraining himself as best he could from showing how he truly felt. When the true cause of it was explained, though, his expression went blank as if stunned and then his teeth clenched and nostrils flared, a flash of amber igniting furiously behind his eyes "A fight you set up? What sort of fights are you setting up where..." he gestured broadly with a hand "...where losing an arm is on the table? What is going on, Quinne? this is mad." he motioned to the arm.

"Or was it to be an innocent sparring match and this...- you say they took advantage of a mistake and took your arm off? Who?" The troll turned away to pace, heavy steps thrumming through the floorboards and rattling nearby ornaments and objects. He took a deep breath and ran a hand over his face "Why don't you blame this person for what they've done? tell me...was this fight you set up an 'anything goes' scenario? ...and if it was...why? I am...sorry I am so riled up" he closed his eyes and took a deep breath to center himself, fighting the natural inclination he had to be a troll as he always did.

"I just hate to see you hurt."

Rook — 12/22/2020
As Ganu questioned him, Quinne waved a hand. "No different from any other bloodsports, I'm sure. We've all dealt with that sort." Even if Eileadora's 'fighter's guild' barely presented much in the way of actual combat. "Yes. I had gone for a stab with my sword, missed and they retaliated. As anyone would in a fight. I don't believe they intended to cut off my arm, so no, I don't consider them at fault." He explained, holding his hand up afterwards.

"I did it, because I enjoyed the combat there, win or lose. It has been a long time since I've gotten to do much of anything outside my usual routine. There's not much need for me to guard any place." Thornmouth had been quiet, and while he didn't mind that, it was strange after past events. "Even the people I used to spar with are gone."

Quinne shrugged helplessly. "I know, and I'm sorry you had to see me like this."

Degu — 12/24/2020
Ganu blinked in disbelief "I am ...not sure we have all dealt with that sort." He sighed "This just seems excessive.... I love to spar and battle with friends, this is too far" he seemed pretty sturdy on his opinion but only because he didn't want Quinne to be missing an arm or hurting.

Either way, he sighed and moved in to pull the vampire carefully in for a proper hug seeing as he'd flinched away from it originally. None of it changed the fact he was happy to see his friend home. The city had been bustling and busy, full of its own tensions anddangers, it felt better to know where everyone was.

"It's not the way I am seeing you that worries me Quinne...I hope you find someone to replace your arm soon, though. I know Onnushi works in his own ways... I am not sure if Evren dabbles in prosthetics but she may."

The troll would step back, running a hand over the back of his neck "I know it's late but... I did stop by to buy some meat to take home with me. You will tell Arron I stopped by too, won't you?"

Rook — 12/24/2020
"It is how their bloodsports are, and I did enjoy it." Quinne would've done without the loss, or the now hidden scars. "I suppose." He'd seen worse done in spars, Trinnean had requested it once even. The hug was accepted as readily as the first, but he kept his other half-arm still this time.

"I'll be sure to ask Evren, once I find her. Perhaps after Yule." Everyone would want to spend time with family, not concern themselves with designing something for him. He, atleast, was patient.

"What were you hoping to take home tonight? Everything's fresh as ever, and we've got all sorts at the ready." Quinne asked, getting a fresh glove and he'd take a moment to actually get it on. "One second....and, of course, I will. He'll be here in the morning, but just incase, I'll leave a note."

Degu — 12/24/2020
Ganu stepped aside to eye the meats, subtly glancing at Quinne struggling to get a glove on though. "Hm, beef I think" he pointed to the heaviest slab of silverside they had and nodded "I'm the biggest eater, you won't be surprised to know... got to get enough to feed everyone else." he chuckled with his best attempt at amusement even though he was still bothered.

"Let me leave him a little something, I hear wolves are rather fond... so perhaps the tastes carry over, hm?" he said it more quietly with a glance to the door before reaching out for some of the packing paper that they had stocked in the butchers and poured some fresh blueberries from one of his pouches onto it before wrapping it up neatly. "Fresh from the east side of the city."

Rook — 12/24/2020
"Sounds good." He'd get a length of parchment paper ready and pulled the meat down carefully, setting it down after to start wrapping it. The twine, too, presented difficulty, but if he wasn't stared at, he didn't seem too bothered. "Heh! Well, if you ever need more, you know where to go. I also get a lot of meat stocked up at my house as well that I'm more than happy to share. It's usually only for later meals." Quinne offered, making sure the twine was tightened after his struggle with it.

"Oh?" He asked curiously and he stepped closer to eye the berries, giving a nod. "I think he'd love those, I'll find a good place to put them. You'll have to show me where you got them, I'll have to use some in treats for my boys." After making sure the berries were secure, he'd find a good place to store them for Arron.

Degu — 12/24/2020
Ganu was the sort to want to help so he practically twitched any time Quinne struggled with the sheer effort of NOT reaching out to help, he knew never to help unless asked in these situations.

He reached out once the meat was produced and only checked to see if the tie was tight enough once Quinne wasn't looking. He pulled out his coin pouch to pay the required amount.

"You'll have to come with me next time I go then. I found a good patch full of mushrooms... I certainly trust them more than the ones in the swamp to the west" he laughed "If it glows it's probably not terribly edible."

"I'd better get back, I still need to cook this up for the boys and i'm late" he smirked "You take care, Quinne."

Rook — 12/24/2020
Quinne didn't seem to pay much mind to the sound of the paper crinkling when Ganu checked the twine and he turned back just in time to accept the coin, grabbing the lockbox after to place the coins inside. "I would like that. I've never really cooked with mushrooms before, but I'm making an effort to do more."

Especially with a house full of people who needed more than blood to survive! "I wonder if those mushrooms are good for anything else.." Maybe he'd find it, but some other time. "Yes, of course. It was good to see you. Say hello to your family for me."

Quinne would walk with him to the door, more for the sake of being polite. "I'll see you soon. Goodnight."

Degu — 12/24/2020
"I will. Goodnight Quinne, give Wyn and the boys a hug from me hm?" he said with a smile before slipping off up the street towards the forest.

"FLEISCH-erei Thornmouth, a cut above the rest! We've got meat of all kinds if you've got coin! SHARDS, the shards. Right. WE GOT the usuals, your cows, your chickens. But we got the weird stuff too! Kirin chucks! Vulcan gull legs - careful, they're spicy! Badgeel steaks! Uh... bears! And don't worry, if you're busy - I am sure we'll meat again! Huh. Pretty cleaver, right?

"SAY! You look like a tall fella!" The twiggy, purple-haired little elf pointed sharply at a lanky, dark-haired, dark-skinned man in the corner of the butcher shop, one staring down at him from an almost ridiculously gangling height, arms folded, one eyebrow raised at the boy, saying nothing. "What does a two-meter-tall butcher weigh?"

"Meat. Schatz, if you do not tone down the language games, they are going to think I am a father or something." Arron sighed and moved back to the corner, counting up the shards of the day. After a beat, he did start to discreetly take down the stock, too - a task his son Raali was very loudly neglecting.

"A dad. They're dad jokes. Would you say I...didn't make the cut?"

"Have you been collecting these! Jaspur did not teach you any of those." Arron was sure half of these puns would either blow right by Jaspur, or he'd get stuck on some of the others. "If you try them out on the next customer, please...try to keep it to one or two!"

"Fine. Even if we get a cart and I can shout all I want while working it?" The man nodded. "How do you...always say the same stuff, to all the people, all the time? Maybe I should ask Quinne 'bout how long this 'apprentice' thing lasted. When will I kill something big? Like a cow?"

"When you're big enough not to get kicked in the face by one. Master Quinne and I will still be doing all the killing for now. Watch the door, Schatz, I've shards on the table. You can practice your pitch on the last few customers."

"Fiiiine." The elf moved to the door, one perpetually propped open in the pervasively nice weather the city seemed to have. A long, noodly purple tail flicked impatiently; closing hours were usually the hardest, but he'd be here for the last few!

Jaspur — 03/19/2021
Sure, there were a few other elves scattered loosely around the city but anything fae here still stood out like a sore thumb. Jaspur didn't much care for the looks he got in the city but he'd started to learn to ignore them. Pointy ears? oh no! Pathetic mundies. He didn't much like other elves either, Jaspur hated everyone equally.

It was a sad truth that people might've been put off by the fact Raali was standing there too, pointy eared and elfy looking, but damn if it wasn't going to end up bringing in a decent supply of heavy eating supernaturals in time right? People like Maxie, Ganu, Arron himself even no doubt, werewolves had to eat too.

He came in on the worried dad-speak and smirked as he limped slowly through the doorway "Normally I would say 'You are a dragon, you can kill a cow whenever you want' but my boy, you are still small. I don't want any broken bones or missing limbs..." he cleared his throat as he glanced down at ...all his missing pieces "That is to say, don't turn out like me."

He checked the shop had emptied out before crossing the way to press a gentle but brief kiss to Arron's lips "I won't ruin your business by lingering too long" he smirked "But I was passing by and wanted to see how you're all doing... Raali" he walked over to straighten any stray strands of hair by tucking them back behind the boys ears.

"People are a stupid animal. You need to learn to exploit their primitive mindsets at their cores." Um yes, great dad talk. "The people here think elves are snobs, I suppose I could be of assistance ...what do you think, my boy? You get some samples up and call me over ...I'll make a big scene about how I only 'accept the best' because 'blah blah elf' and then I'll fawn over the meat like it's the best thing I've ever tasted... I can wear an even snobbier disguise, my boy, look." he waved a hand over his face and replaced it easily with a silver haired, angular faced, noble-looking elf with a sour expression.

Rook — 03/19/2021
It wasn't long after Jaspur headed inside that Jack did, oblivious to the talk of lesser people and the like. Probably a good thing, maybe. He was still in his guard uniform, but going there before going home seemed like a good idea. He looked from one person to the next, though only one comment followed.

"Where's Quinne?" He'd expected him at this hour, not these three. When he noticed Jaspur's new, haughty looking features, the vampire did what he could to continue to appear his non-chalant self. That noble look, however, was an unwelcomed one for a brief moment.

"Not interrupting anything, I hope? Outside business, I'm sure." Perhaps without complaint. He straightened there at the door, looking to Arron again, assumedly the man in charge. Couldn't have been the elf. When he noticed Raali, though, Jack's tune changed a bit. "New butcher?"

Rigby — 03/20/2021
"HULLO AND WELCOME TO - it's Dad."

The elf's entrance was greeted by a brisk hug from the tiny elf - and a far more properly-flamboyant reception from Arron as he'd swept over to Jaspur.

The butcher managed to clasp one of Jaspur's arms with the wrapped baskets around his own arm, ready for evening deliveries. Some things rarely changed between locations, and the delivery setup he'd invented with Quinne was quite a popular one among the nocturnal crowd. With a deft fusion of juggling and surprisingly soft affection, he returned that kiss, eyes twinkling.

"Schatzi, help me, there is this strange boy in my shop that seems convinced he's selling snake oils and 'dad jokes!'" Then a little grin as the other shoe dropped. "I keep trying to tell him that snake oils are NEXT Thursday!"

Raali popped a little piece of jerky in his mouth as if he'd just noticed it, and continued his patter as if he hadn't. "That's totally a dad joke, you've got it," he added wisely with a few flourishing points, while munching. Jaspur shifted then, and Raali squinted in mock-appraisal (though that couldn't extend to the smile he wore - it had been years, and every single time, that was still so cool).

He clasped his hands behind himself and tried to walk somewhere between a judge and a haughty lady, as if Jaspur just tried on a new outfit and it was up to Raali to see him into society.

"Hmmm. Pompous. Reminds me of someone..." Oh they all knew, and it was only hilarious to Raali. "Gotta put your nose up a little more, like you have to step in the middle of all these poor people. N'if you touch one, they'll fart. Poorly." The boy's pokerface was hideous, however, and he quickly broke into a giggle. "I need to get that good. Here, c'mon over this way, we've still got some badgeel stuff out..." He scooted off, scrambling up a little step-ladder to take a few badgeel cuts off of some hooks.

Arron had a loosely curled fist around his mouth - that hid some real laughter. "You are not missing much. Closing the shop, deliveries nearly ready. Raali's got the route down, do you not, Schatz?"

"Where's Quinne?"

Raali whirled about and stood up, rod-straight, clasping those cuts tight. It was a guard, he didn't do it!

But that quickly shifted; he didn't shoot finger-guns if only because they'd not yet existed, but the look on his face was one that would throw both at a heartbeat. Hello, new guy! "Only the best new butcher we've got. Except for Quinne, who's...actually a butcher."

"Good evening." Arron had kept the greeting in English this time, but the lilt never truly vanished.

He gestured to all three of them. "Working on training the boys in for whenever Quinne's abroad. Only managed to catch one boy tonight, though, and he's more interested in in becoming a huckster." Like Arron wasn't one.

He tilted his head. Frowned a bit. "Things are all right? I can speak with him if there is an emergency."

Jaspur — 03/20/2021
"Snake oils hm?" he chuckled, eyes squinting in amusement "I'd take those over the dad jokes" he whispered more secretively with a glance over his shoulder to Arron to see if he'd heard that! He laughed again when Raali mentioned a resemblance and Jaspur tutted and shook his head "I have to take my inspiration from somewhere, don't I?"

Jaspur hadn't been planning on doing the act right here and now, after all it wasn't a good way to draw in a crowd if no one had seen the snobby noble looking elf walk in but hearing the door he quickly changed his clothes to match in a panicked, split decision. Oh of course it was a guard, that was the last person he wanted to walk in while he was impersonating some elven noble.

Might as well commit now, his family knew how easily he could switch personalities..he'd had to learn it in his life to support the fluidity of his own form. He stood up straight and regarded Jack with his nose tilted up and his arms folded behind his back, returning the disapproving stare before following Raali towards the counter "I believe you were going to provide me with samples, boy" he said seethingly, but he'd sneak a wink to Raali if the boy looked worried at all.

"I hardly expect this establishment has anything i would like, though."

Rook — 03/20/2021
"Well, there needs to be one to take over when the rest are too old." Jack said with a smirk, as if Quinne was ever going to actually stop. "Good evening." He returned to Arron with a nod, only to pause when Jaspur requested samples and he had to bite his tongue a moment.

"Thankfully, no shortage of butchers! If the chunks of raw meat aren't up to your standards, atleast you can enjoy it elsewhere." He said goodnaturedly, as entirely up for keeping the peace. Honestly, it was likely partially something he intended - he was a guard. Off-duty, but still.

"Things are fine. I usually chat with him, though I assume he's off at the other place? Whatever it's called. Or is he just...off tonight?" The vampire asked curiously, mostly because it'd determine if he went there or just to his own home.

Arron — 03/21/2021
"Indeed," Raali said, drawing himself up to his full, measly height. "Dragons'll outlast you all. Heh, imagine an old gray Quinne, though!"

"I will not. He would be insulted."

"Someone pulled his arm off at that place." Raali added to Jack out of utterly nowhere, in something that was equal parts horror, sympathy and fascination. Then looked at Arron and Not-Dad quickly, as if he'd caught himself in a social faux-pas. You don't just talk about missing limbs willy-nilly, come on. Especially to customers. Even if they were in a meat shop.

"...sorry."

"Raali, please service our esteemed noble," (there was a twinkle in his voice, though he maintained the poker-face expertly), "and I will speak with this gentleman."

That was fine by the little elf, who was very content to commit to the bit himself, and play up the animation in the face of Dad's new face - while Papa took care of the other guy. He spun on his heel, raising both hands. "OOOOH but if you go ELSEWHERE, you miss out on...whatisthis" He paused at some of the more unusual cuts.

"Vulcan gull, Schatz."

"A VULCAN GULL! The only meat to come pre-spiced, as hot as the volcanoes, themselves! Lot more flavorful though. Much less vaporizing." He eyed the legs and breasts of the gulls, tastefully displayed. And then leaped for it with a flourish, to spin around and show this Jaspur-Noble. "Doesn't mean they don't take well to spicing though. Hit it with lemon juice and a few mustards and -" He smacked his lips and threw in a little pinch of his fingers. "Deeeee-lightful!"

To Jack, Arron grinned. "The peacemaking is appreciated, but I believe we will be fine. The nobility no longer frightens me." Ohh, if Jack only knew Arron and Jaspur's last bout with it! He quirked his head. "What was the occasion? He is just off for tonight, needed a night in with the family, but I can call him if you like."

Jaspur — 03/21/2021
The supposed 'nobleman' narrowed his eyes at Jack and forced a cold smile "Yes, I'm quite aware..." even if they weren't going to convince this fellow to buy some meat (Jaspur had not noticed that he was a vampire, oops! still could buy for someone else though) they'd at least get some practice in on their hustle.

Either way Jaspur decided he wasn't going to drag out the act for one guy, so he cut to the chase. Picking up one of the cooked samples he placed it daintily between his lips and chewed.

Oh dear that was spicy-

"By the gods. That has to be the best meat I've had in all my travels... boy, prepare me five fillets" he fished eagerly for his shard pouch but also used that motion to turn away and pant as quietly as he could.

Dear GODS that was spicy! he could feel his eyes watering. How unbecoming of a 'noble'.

Rook — 03/21/2021
"Be a long time until he's gray and old though!" If he'd even let himself get gray hair, he'd likely dye it as long as he could get away with it. When Raali mentioned his arm, he nodded down to him. "An unfortunate turn of events. Atleast he's said he'll be a little more..careful." Hopefully.

Fake Noble snapped at him, and he chose to ignore it. Raali was left to the task of serving him, so Jack stepped over to Arron's side of the room. "Of course, of course. I mostly wanted to chat, but I won't interrupt his time with family." He'd respect that, because he liked Quinne's family. He might have been biased, because they were Quinne's.

"I also wanted to buy a few things, he knows my preferences." Jack would start listing out things. "Vulcan gull breasts, three. Some ground pork, and a few beef livers. I've the money for it on me right now."

Arron — 03/27/2021
Raali grinned at the vampire. "Call it a race. Dragon vs Vampire. I'd make Papa call it but he's already got a little gray going, there."

"Truly aged, Raali. My old bones creak at the slightest forecast of your taurshit." It was equally grinning in tone, though the delivery was otherwise deadpan, and Arron threw in a pantomime eye-roll to rub it in.

"Anyway, Quinne's gonna' be more machine than man at that rate," Raali added, regarding the newcomer's reassurance that Quinne would be careful. Oh, if only Raali knew. "I know when I get old enough, I want to see what they've got over there. And how it stacks up to here. Blood-sports and all that. Do people die? Can imagine they do, normal people'd bleed out after losing an arm I s'pose." It was stupendously frank and spoken through his collection of the various meats; he'd not drop one action for the other - but his act dropped rather sharply as the poor 'noble' choked on the spice. "Oh my god, are you okay?" And then it was back up, again - with parents like his, he couldn't help but commit to the bit. "Five filets, coming right up, sir!" He spun on his heel and set to work collecting them. He'll split them with his siblings, later - no doubt!

One long ear flicked back to Jack and he grinned broadly, then. "'The Vulcan Gull Challenge.' I should do it. Sponsored by the Fleischerei, of course." Meat would be collected (Arron discreetly showing Raali which livers were which).

Arron chuckled. "Of course. You have seen his children lately? Imagine taking them all hunting at once, it is an ordeal of the best kind." He held out a hand to Jack, then. "Arron. Of course. But I would like to at least be somewhat formal about it." He tilted his head, leaving Jack space to answer with his own name, should he wish.

And Raali slipped up shortly with a basket, and mimicked Arron's extended hand. Oh, right. Formal stuff. Looked at the both of them furtively. Dropped his hand. Then changed his mind again and shoved it right back in, between them if possible. "And Raali."

Jaspur — 04/06/2021
Heard at least that Jack had chosen to buy the Vulcan breasts and he seemed to credit that to himself (a little genuine elven arrogance there) and he grinned secretly and winked at Raali, but then promptly went back to dying.

He fanned his mouth as subtly as he could "Yes- my boy just a ..dry throat" he tried to play it off as his son got worried, poor kid! he could feel the tickle in his darn nose getting stronger - oh no he was going to-!

"ACHOO!" he turned away from the meat to sneeze LOUDLY and his silver hair burst into blonde and wavy hair, clothes changing back to normal rapidly. Oops- well that was graceful. He blinked as he lowered his arm and stared at the guard before offering a very awkward smile as he placed now mangled old fingers on his hips "Oh haha...this happens all the time? ..." (us wacky elves right? hahah...)

He cast a very awkward look to his partner and his son as if pleading for a distraction as he quickly placed his shards down on the desk for the fake transaction "I'd best be going now. Don't expect a tip!" he said belatedly as he remembered he'd been playing an asshole noble. Right? ...except now he looked like a wizard caught in the lamplight as it were.

Rook — 04/06/2021
"A race a dragon will likely to win, I'm sure. Especially one that's likely on better footing than Quinne, like you." When Raali asked further on the arena, Jack could only help but shrug. "Wouldn't know, never been." Perhaps some day. Jaspur sneezed and the magic suddenly changed him, which was given a very wary reaction. His pupils shrunk a moment, but he only addressed it with a long stare.

"Do people like him not tip often?"

Jack asked as if the man already left. "Well, you know what happens to people like that when they need to hold their own hand out." A glance cast to those mangled fingers followed, and he smiled at Jaspur. 'What's left of it' was almost nearly added.

"I have, indeed. Good kids, scalier than I expected." He said, amused, and he'd accept that handshake. "Jack Walsh, Guard Private. Maybe different rank soon, we'll see." He offered in return and he'd eye Raali again. "Gull Challenge hm? Interesting.."

Arron — 04/08/2021
"Pleasure, Jack! Happy to finally meet you!" He'd broadly, playfully flourished to the now-revealed Jaspur in a ta-daaaa manner, somewhat awkwardly, but all gamely. "We are, ahhh. He is mine. And Raali's other father." He was getting a lot better at admitting queerness fairly casually. It was as jaded as it was genuine - he'd already been under fire for being one type of human, then one type of religion, then one type of creature, then one type of lover - and it was very airily challenging; if someone decided to pick on him for that, it would be a very poor battle to choose. "He wears his real face out. Sometimes. Heh."

And then, a little grin. "Out of the shop, we do not exactly have the highest opinion of...certain sorts, heh. They pay more if I let them and purchase the more exotic meats if I talk them into it, but rarely tip and often try to haggle. The children sometimes do. Perhaps in spite of their parents. I would spite them, too!" He'd trusted Raali to alert him to any true rich folks passing through (and therefore to shut up with his light shit-talking!) "But the boys need practice in dealing with all sorts. The friendly customers are the easiest ones, anyone can handle the easygoing ones. But from nobles to monsters..." he shrugged and grimaced somewhat. "Master Quinne had the worst luck with both in the past, but I do sincerely hope it has changed since we've moved."

Raali meanwhile snorted, barely able to contain his giggles. And then...didn't, the laughter bursting forth. "OHNOOOO, a serious condition, bursting into wizards, surely, gotta' get that checked out immediately!"

Then to Jack, he grinned and spread his hands wide in a theatrical flourish. "I'm gonna do it! You guys've convinced me! I'll make it an event. Free food and free advertising - if you can keep your gulls down! IF...you both let me." He probably would host it, anyway - it seemed the combined reactions of all three men seemed to tip the scales in Raali's favor!

Jaspur quickly pressed a finger to his lips as if to shush Raali but he was barely stifling his own laughter. He cleared his throat "Well I have my food and must go now.... I must say I shan't be partaking in any public events... but I suppose it is a good idea" he said with an awkward look between everyone in the room. He was struggling not to get involved in a casual conversation with his family, he had to commit to the role now, oops.

A pause.

Then he headed for the door, side-eyeing the guard on the way past, though if Jack stopped looking at him for even a moment he'd blow a kiss to Arron with a sweet smile and sneak a wave to his son before slipping out and disappearing off up the street. They could laugh about this over dinner later.

Jack merely blinked at Jaspur, but resisted the urge to make a comment. "Okay." Though, the mention of Raali's other father was met with a nod. That bit didn't concern him as readily as it might some from the era he'd left. "Looks like it might have. He's engaged, has kids. If that's bad luck, I'm curious about what was really bad for him."

"I'm not a fan of animal blood, whatnot." Why he was buying it was anyone's guess, then. "Maybe I can have someone compete in my place." He wondered, but that side-eye he got from Jaspur was met with a withering one. However, the elf got his chance to offer sweet parting gestures to his family as the vampire took a moment to adjust his purchases. "It was great, meeting you both." A pat to Raali's head, albeit awkwardly. "I'll be off."

With that, he'd head out and off to his own home.
