Berry
"Alright, here we are!" Berry would gesture to her gate as her and Rasiel approached. There was an immaculate garden beginning to bloom with fall and winter flowers, such as crocus and hellebores, obviously painstakingly managed on a near daily basis. Part of the yard, however, was completely barren, with footmarks from her morning's spar with her daughter still layered over older, similar marks. This Berry would point to with a smile. "S'right there; my daughter and I do a little fight a few times a week, jes' t'make sure she's got her self defenses down."
Rasiel
Rasiel lets out a low whistle as she uses her hand to pull her bangs back.
"It's beautiful," They hummed; they appreciated nature so much more than her old home. A stuffy old cave never had any flowers.
"Ah, Sparring is good, " There is a wide grin that spreads on their face. "I quite enjoy doing those tavern brawls to keep my defenses up," They shed off the outer-leather vest, throwing it to the side. They begin to roll up their sleves to their elbow and threw their right short glove on the ground. They would keep their left one on, that seemed to go up their arm and under the sleeve of their shirt. They threw everythign into somewhat of a neat pile on a side of the barren ground.
They do a couple side steps and loosen their arms a bit. "Now, Lets not waste time, let me show you what I can do"
Berry
Berry waved a gloved hand in the air, dismissing the statement. "Ach, it's nothin', yet. Ye wait till spring and summer, that's where my green thumb really shines." She said, though a hint of pleased pink touched her cheeks.
"See, tavern brawls are also a favorite of mine, but my daughter keeps threatenin' te leave me in th'jail house next time I get in one." She began removing her gloves, revealing intricate, henna-like designs all over her fingers. As she pushed up her sleeves, even more of these designs were revealed, seemingly covering at least her full torso. The gloves were placed on the corner of a planter by her front door, before she joined Rasiel at the makeshift ring. She started rolling her shoulders and neck, before getting into a fighting stance that was low and firm. "Ready when ye are." And she'd wait there, long as it took, because Berry never made the first move.
Rasiel
There was a smirk and Rasiel gets into position. Then, she would stay almost still for quite a bit. Rasiel wanted to see if Berry would make the first move, but all the while they changed their body in minute positions.
The second they found the way they wanted to strike, Rasiel makes a run to the other side of the ring to look as they were to punch Berry in the head, but at the last second they would drop their weight in favor of kicking their leg to make them loose their balance.
Berry
As fast as lightening, Berry ducked the punch, feeling a small bit of anxiety that comes from seeing a big, towering person like Rasiel barrelling towards you, aiming to give you a concussion. She grinned with relief as she had seemed to get out of the way, but it dropped suddenly when a kick to her shins knocked her leg back. It slid as she shifted the weight to her other leg, using the opportunity of closeness to deal a sharp upwards blow to Rasiel's ribs, before throwing herself back into balance. "Ach, I'm out of practice! I use that trick too often te be fallin' te it like I did." She laughed.
Rasiel
Rasiel feels the sting of their ribs being punched. Luckily, they backed up barley enough to not get all the air knocked out of them. There is a bit of returned laughter as she catches their breath.
" There's no shame to be fallin' for a trick like that; especially from a gal like me," They gave a small mocking courtesy pose before they go to try to grab Berry by the arm and pull them into give them a jab on the side.
Berry
Just in time, Berry dropped her shoulder and swung her arm just out of Rasiel's reach, barely missing being grabbed; unfortunately, the maneuver still left her side open for the jab, and she winced with discomfort and turned away from the blow, keeping her shoulder towards Rasiel as she took a step away. "I gotta admit, I'm not used te those low blows from ye towerin' folk. It's the smaller kind ye gotta watch yer knees with." As she hit on the word "watch," she tried to use a higher sweeping kick to knock Rasiel's knee out from behind her.
Rasiel
Rasiel takes a second to glance down and sees Berry swinging her leg towards her knee. In one graceful swoop she swings her entire body to the right completely evading the attack. She smirks and gives a small mock bow, before making their way back towards Berry.
"I've been throwin punches for a long time," She takes a quick jab to the her side. "I don't fall for the little tricks~" she hums.
Berry
Berry let out grunt as Rasiel made contact, with her ribs, then let a laugh. "Aye? Well, I've been scrappin' since I was old enough te fight with th'village boys, some 34 years ago." She shifted her wait from foot to foot, pulling up her guard as Rasiel got close again. "Then I went and got formally trained, ye know? I'm jes... outta practice. Ain't needed te be in a real fight in a good long while." She'd give a good gut punch a try, a straight forward attack, before leaping back again and pulling up her arms.
Rasiel
Rasiel hops foot to foot as Berry gets closer. She returns the laugh. She’s been fighting since they were a teen. If that damn cult was good for anything , it was being thrown into a random gladiator pit and fighting animals and people. No training beats fighting to the death.
She watches her throw a punch and while she tried to direct the punch away , but it still connected to their body. Rasiel gets pushed back from the force. They replant their feet on the ground .
“It’s dangerous to be out of practice,” she huffed before charging forward and sending a knee to the ribs.
