Basic:
Name: Evren
Furcadia Alt: Evren
Age: 150, give or take; humanoid shapes hover around the early to mid-thirties (or the closest species-equivalent)
Gender: Female
Height: 5'10" // Seven feet at the shoulder; fifty-five feet from nose to tail-tip. Most of it's the tail.
Weight: 138 lbs // 12,000 lbs, more or less.
Species: Dragon
Subspecies: Shape-shifter (innate and 'engineered')
Occupation: Currently, her main business is a vague so-so wobble of her hand and a curt and noncommittal little 'overseas,' but is known to trade in artifacts strange and ancient, and periodically hover around the wizard's college.
(Magus and incumbent Sairon councilwoman in Eileadora; currently finishing her only term as the city's Master of Research)
Scale/Skin Color: Olive, darker, tans to a more moderate brown. // Bold cinnabar-and-vermillion to a deep crimson, shimmering with a metallic patina; several scales are decorated with inlaid jade patterns. Subtly keeled upon one another along her back, but smooth and flat elsewhere, resembling snake scales. Shed infrequently. Smooth, soft and flat yellow scales decorate her neck and belly; the same color is found on the batlike membranes of her wings
Hair: Mid-length, thick, black and presented with a calculated sort of dishevelment. Sharper-eyed observers would detect a faint crimson iridescence and that the hair seems more like stripped proto-feathers, with wispy trails of afterfeather present at some tips.
Markings/Scars: None immediately visible // Heavily scarred wings, some membranes crumpling to tears that will never fully heal
Extra appendages: : Often is tempted to wear the tail whenever in any other shape; less frequently, stunted versions of her wings also make appearances. // Two rows of short, black spines run parallel across the top of her head, her neck, back and tail. Expressive, membranous fin-like structures surround her face and neck, in a shape not unlike the hood of a cobra.
General appearance:
>Orange eyes, vivid and huge, spark with insatiable curiosity, and this fire is reflected in the iridescence of strikingly crimson metallic scales. She's unmistakably a dragon; large, lithe and long - but an odd sort, a stately snake with a snub snout, leathery ocher wings and feline paws. Where one would expect fearsome spines rising up along her back, there are only stunted ridges, black and worn, but her most striking features are the fringes that frame her face and neck: long, fin-like structures that lift and curl into an expressive and expansive hood. A bombastic, vivacious creature, oft projecting that maddening air of certainty only worn well by a dragon, Evren is quite the first impression.
---
>A fiery, gaudy oddball to be sure, and she owns it; this woman proudly struts in a long, red overcoat, a brocade waistcoat, black trousers and - when not covering it with a wide-brimmed black hat - wild and disheveled black hair pulled back in a loose ponytail and held with a barrette of short manticore quills. Odder yet is the light, long staff of blackened metal and a blood-red pommel breezily slung over her shoulder, and the orange eyes with slit pupils which shrewdly stare from beneath round, rose-tinted lenses. These glasses otherwise hang with a selection of other lenses on a thin gold chain around her neck.
Mental:
Personality: Very expressive, especially in shapes two-legged, moving with an animated and almost pantomime sort of ease. Droll, abrupt, and blunt - but swells into the peaks of giddy greed and glee, and recesses down to valleys of utter gloom and misery. There are no small emotions, even if there are frequently clipped and small sentences. When she loves, it is total; when she hates, woe betide her targets.
Fears: Confinement, failure, drowning
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Good tendencies)
Statistics:
Strength: High
Dexterity: Medium
Constitution: Medium
Intelligence: High
Wisdom: Medium-high...ish?
Charisma: Medium-low
Combat, Abilities:
Strengths: Fire. Corrosive materials.
Weaknesses: A great big soft belly. Questionable and often miscalculated ideas regarding humanoid interaction.
Weapons: Mage's staff (which doubles largely as a polearm) // Claws, teeth and size
Armor: None // Natural armor
Natural Abilities:
FLIGHT
While they had been formerly mangled in an incident Evren will never willingly divulge, and while there is still heavy scarring on the membranes between her wingfingers, she prides herself in these wings nonetheless.
CORROSIVE BREATH (WEAPON)
Like many dragons, Evren has the capability to breathe fire, though she's not particularly good at it - when she does, it erupts in an unwieldy hiccuping belch - and she's not particularly fond of doing so. And when one's hoard consists largely of old scrolls, books and paintings, it's small wonder why. Her true talent lies in her other innate weapon - a strange corrosive gas, the effects of which resemble oxidation on metal, and chemical burns on flesh. This she has learned to animate with startling finesse, like wild and otherworldly smoke rings.
THERMAL MANIPULATION
Specifically, heat. This is usually an unconscious effect, subject to extreme whims of her mood. Heat emanates from her as if her ability to contain her own breath weapons within herself was in danger of slipping, and thus far has rarely manifested as anything other than involuntarily heating up her surroundings when she's upset.
EYESIGHT
Excellent low-light and dark-vision, though a bit photosensitive. Reacts to movement much like a cat would.
Learned Abilities:
SHAPESHIFTING
Evren wields the ability to assume the appearance of other living creatures. This builds on a natural 'knack' and is accomplished by a transformation smooth and fluid, relatively painless, almost artfully done, with an eye for form and very little room for in-between states or grotesqueries - unless, of course, half-states are her intent. Her scent, special attacks and constitution are retained, as are ability scores, and natural weapons are lost.
She 'mixes and matches' traits of such shapes with style and an uncanny ease, and appears to be playing with varieties of winged furres - but as of right now, she frequently uses two complete, alternate forms: a human, and a humanoid recombination of draconic features - not unlike lizard-furre folk. These shapes are vulnerable to true-seeing spells and abilities, though idiosyncrasies remain in any form nonetheless, for those who know where to look - hair will bear wisps of after-feather, the eyes remain unchanged, etc. Often, she's also tempted to keep the tail or wings, regardless of shape or size.
If gravely harmed, she will revert to her natural form - though if parts are severed from any disguise, they will retain their respective traits, and are unable to be 'regrown,' again.
Only once has something 'malfunctioned' and she's been reduced to an amorphous, animate liquid form, feather-light, crimson and shimmering with silvery iridescence. It has scared her out of her mind, she doesn't know how it happened - and is absolutely not eager to try it again.
IDENTIFICATION / APPRAISAL / AUTHENTICATION
As someone so invested in (one could offer 'obsessed with') history, artifacts and documents, Evren has a keen eye for the real deal and will offer her services to anyone in need - for a price.
FORGER
...but on the flip side, is talented enough to fake her way through this very same business, if she so desires. While she won't be caught stealing anything from anyone's archive these days, she isn't above convincing others to do so for her, and providing them with good-enough replacements. A keen eye and a steady hand ensures she can fake anything from a simple signature to various weapons, scripts and tools of the ancients. Her corrosive breath weapon and a careful knowledge of chemistry can age an 'artifact' or document to her satisfaction, as well - including those for herself.
ARTIFICER
While forgery is often a lucrative outlet for her craftsmanship and appraisal, she is no stranger to magic and engineering. Careful study and disassembly of existing devices often leads to bursts of inspiration and experimental creation of her own, and she is consequently quite skilled at combining magical and technological effects. Invention is not limited by a simple "no." Artifact enchanting often comes with the territory.
LANGUAGES
Fluent in speaking the Eileadoran and Yveridian common languages, Latin, English, Draconic, and feral-speak; trade and longevity and a desire to stave off boredom has encouraged interest in more. Can read and write in Greek; understands the basics of Hebrew and several eastern calligraphic forms.
DANCING
A brash manner and a natural four-legged stance belies an almost courtly skill when it comes to dancing and other similar social graces.
QUARTERSTAFF FENCING
Many mages would probably bristle at the frequent, ferocious and un-honed insistence with which a humanoid Evren uses a (probably ancient and invaluable) magical staff as a polearm.
