I was going to post this on the recent news post but decided not to. Since there is nobody here anyway, I think it is safe to say what I need to say even if I am just listening to the echo of my own voice...
Basically, my roleplay writing with strangers has come to an end. Sadly, this site is rife with MAGAs. I have talked with people I write with and some assured me they are not Trump supporters, and I will continue to write with them. Some have made their beliefs known, even if they say they 'don't talk politics' here. I have ended my roleplays with them, and in a couple instances, have blocked them.
The country of my birth has just screwed itself again, and it saddens me that so many people I used to think had some common sense can be ok with what Trump and his MAGA supporters stand for. If one says they are not racist, yet voted for Trump, they're racist. Same with homophobia and misogynism. Saying you're not these things, yet voting for, hence supporting someone who is, makes one these things. I used to wonder how Hitler was able to come to power in a democracy. I don't wonder about that anymore. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, and fascism for the win. The USA loses. I am not 'ok' with it, and I will never be 'ok' with it. I could go on and on and on. Guess I'm using this place as a replacement for fecebook which I just dumped.

I have a hard time associating with people who think "everything is going to be ok"
It is not 'ok'. I fear for a lot of friends now. Basically, 'open season' has been declared again, like it was in 2016. I cannot, and will not associate with hateful people, or those who support hateful people.

I am absolutely horrified. I'm horrified. Not even a few hours had passed since our new president claimed his victory, I was at work and people were celebrating. Mind you, I work for a sovereign tribal nation that boasts how they do not acknowledge same sex marriages and will gladly turn them away for healthcare and other services. This is likely only about to get much worse. As a member of the LGBTQIA, I am obviously very well aware what is already allowed to happen and frightened by what will transpire in the coming years...
Anyway, one of the very first things I overhear, I kid you not, is one of our elderly patients at the clinic I work for exclaim that "Jesus is good" and that he did his work and now he (Trump) needs to work on clearing out some of these <race>(s) and <race>(s). "We simply have too many of 'em!"
I'm appalled, disgusted, and disconcerted that not even day one of this and we are already this deep into racism and fascism and fear mongering. Young boys are screaming out "Your body, my choice!" to their female peers in schools throughout the country now. Like what is happening? We're in a spiral folks, and it's only going to get worse. I don't know how to be positive at this point. I have no safe zones. I'm in the deep south, friends. And the few people that I have mentioned about my rights being stripped away among all the other dehumanizing things that are about to happen, I only get "b-but the economy!" as a response.
I don't know whether or not I need to keep my head down for my own safety or be ready to roll up my sleeves and duke it out...

I'm sorry you feel lost and confused.
I think though perhaps referring to others as MAGAts (maggots) is probably not in the best spirt of rule 2.
I also feel perhaps the othering of the opposition only serves to fuel said oppositions justification to other you and those whom you align with.
Time will truly tell how things will turn out.

If you are talking to me, I’m not “lost and confused”. Not one bit. The ‘opposition’ is welcome to came here and tell me why they support Trump and his policies. And FYI (for your information) ‘MAGATS’ is an acronym for Make America Great Again Trump Supporter. It was a term they came up for themselves, and I use it accordingly. Apparently some internet search engine AI filter has determined it is derogatory.
The sad thing is Trump didn’t try and hide any of his views. He was quite open saying what he was going to do. The sad thing is a majority of Americans wanted that. It is the death of the constitution and the rule of law in America, and unfortunately, the retributions have already started. Talked to a friend in Seattle who got assaulted by some Proud Boys for wearing a ‘Black Lives Matter’ t-shirt.

I do want to note that I don't think the other side's justifications is based on the terminology we use for them. They've made it exceptionally clear that anyone who isn't a white, cis man is the 'other', and even if you vote for Trump you are a second-rank citizen in their eyes if you don't meet the white man standard they uphold.
I truly hope that the right will make fools of all of us and improve the country, making our fears unjust. They do however have an excellent track record of making true on their promises of putting horrible, lethal policies in place and they will not stop manipulating and intimidating people to take their side no matter what. Overturning Roe v.s. Wade should be the leading example: wanted pregnancies that ended in miscarriages have absolutely killed more women than before in recent history because life saving medical interventions were postponed past the point of saving the mother. Their policies are about punishing those deemed lesser than, they are not rooted in doing good for society. That by definition makes them other everyone who isn't a white cis man.
That is why they've won so many young white male voters over. The right hates women and they raise their sons to hate women as well. As long as this continues to happen, the othering is done by them. Not the people upset about their rights being stripped away and their lives being put at risk.

I think the internet has a plethora of podcasts aimed at young men who feel they aren't "getting their due" to the point that even non-right-wing families are reporting that their teenage sons are turning away from the values they were raised with to follow Joe Rogan and the rest.
