Although the rebuild will keep the classic parchment layout, users will have the option to switch to a "dark" version (easier on the eyes at night!) and a "minimalist light" version, that will utilize high contrast for people who have visual problems or simply like that sort of thing. 
I definitely like the "dark" version idea! It actually is easier on the eyes, as everything (to me) is too bright nowadays.
