I understand this might be a bit niche, but I have several characters I'd love to set up 'social media' accounts for. The journal is the perfect widget for this, but it'd be even better if other characters could comment on their 'posts'.

I know it's a case by a case situation. My social media is another character's dusty journal hidden away in at the top of a castle which nobody would ever see, let alone comment on. But at the moment it's one of my most desired features :D
I'd like this as well, especially as I make more modern characters who I want to give blogs to.
As someone with an IC blog that updates several times per week, I'd be very interested in this feature. It would be nice if it could be toggled on/off or restricted to registered users only the same way guestbook comments are.
For me, a journal is a character’s personal record. To have it cluttered up with other’s commentaries would take away that personal insight feel. If a read counter could be put on journal entries, that would be cool. If anyone wished to comment on a journal entry, they can do it via a guestbook entry.

I personally like the journal feature just as it is.
Like Auberon said, if it could be toggled on and off, that'd be sweet. I think comments on journals would be a really cool feature :)
This is a pretty fascinating idea. I'll look into this.

In a way, it's similar to group announcements, which are basically journal entries but with comments. I'm pretty sure you can turn comments on and off there too.
Yes, the option to turn on/off comments on journal entries would be nice. That way I can keep it off for characters that use it as a personal diary. For other characters, I use journal entries to write out a part of their history.

Which brings me to the maturity rating of journal entries. Maybe a tick-box to make them over 18 (like in the Gallery widget)

I agree with Dunedain-Ranger...I think a mature box should be an option for people who get squeamish from descriptions of blood or other mature content.

Another beautiful idea!
