Presently, we can only use static images or gifs with the img tag, but I was wondering if in the new build, gifv embeds would be possible. Since we're modernizing anyway, I was hoping this might be on the menu. I'm not too sure how it works on the back end or if that's just a bbcode limitation.
This is interesting. So far as I know, gifv's are actually video embeds, so we'd have to handle them a little differently than normal images.
I'm also unaware of a host for gifv's other than imgur right now? Are there other sources I could look at?

I think tenor and giphy are place worth to look at.
I'm a bit of a Luddite, but there's also the .mp4 format that I've seen gifs or.... I guess "short, looping, high-quality videos" done in. I know quite a few that I've seen on Imgur are .mp4s. And I do believe that at least Giphy runs those as well
