I don't do a lot of forum rp admittedly but the ones I have done often have forum OOC threads also. I have found that sometimes they start burying under other notifications and if they leave the first page I'm off hunting for that thread, be it IC or OOC. I was wondering of it would be simple to make a kind of area off to the side where a few openly tracked threads for active rps and such could remain where I could easily reference them?
You mean shortcuts to which we can straight out join, if that's so then I'm all in.
Yes exactly, like a link which takes you directly to certain forums where maybe you are keeping up with an rp or even for anything else really. In my wild imagination it would be customizable too where you could select which ones are present and what order they were in or something.
Disclaimer, I am no programmer, so my perception of how 'easy' something might be to do is certainly subject to correction.

Sort of like when you pin a thread in a forum that keeps that IC / OOC topic at the top and the other notifications / updates just flow under.
I think that would be very handy to have to keep track on important threads/RPs

Full disclosure: We've been moving toward banning separate OOC threads and combining all existing ones with their existing RP for a long time now, and with improved displays on their way in 2.0, that will almost certainly happen. They are not at all what the RP Discussion forum was intended for, and serve as clutter that excludes the vast majority of forum goers from participating in those topics.
So, back to original topic: I'm not very keen on re-creating the bookmark capability that exists in literally every browser. However, some kind of "master RP" section that helps you keep track of current RPS and when it's your turn is something I'm very interested in trying to work out.

As a perpetrator of a couple of those OOC threads in the RP Discussion forum, I'd certainly love a nicer way to keep the OOC chatter alongside the IC thread without totally cluttering up the IC thread.
Currently, there just seems to be no natural fit for where those ooc conversation threads should live.
Looking forward to the improved displays!

I think that's a big part of why the collapsible OOC post functionality was added, complete with the option to have OOC collapsed or expanded by default.
Those are okay for some OOC comments... ones directly relevant to the story at that moment in time.
i.e. ((Hey, roll to hit, please!))
But not so great for when the whole group wants/needs to have a several page conversation about something. Then it becomes too much clutter quickly, even with the collapsed OOC comments.
I'm not sure if I have a great solution in mind other than perhaps a separate forum just dedicated to OOC RP threads. Sounds like Kim's got something up her sleeves though.

Wouldn't a PM work?

A PM?
Tried that once for a group RP and it was pretty messy because we added multiple new players over the course of several weeks while a couple ghosted on us.
So got stuck in the whole "Waiting for everyone to approve new person" loop a couple times. Then after a few days, give up and start a fresh PM thread, which loses continuity. So I think we were on the 3rd or 4th PM thread by the time the RP fizzled out a month or so later.
Since then, I've been doing the OOC threads, which work great. I find these the best option from what is currently available.
Edit: I also like the way roleplayerguild does their RP threads, with one tab for IC and another for OOC.

It does, and if I'm understanding what she's saying right, I'm kinda excited.

OMG I really hope this sort of categorizing OOC and IC and being able to see all, or one or the other will also be implemented in the PM system somehow? I honestly squeal at the idea of it being a thing in PM too for those of us who prefer PM over public or group. Oh the organizing GENIUS.

This. I love it so much, I could cry. I also second what Mercy said about it being available for PMs. That would definitely be something I'd like to see!
This is incredible! I'll third what mercy said also.
That being said I'm guessing there's not a way to combine past OOC and IC pms (if this is done) or forums....it would seem tediously difficult from my point of view but I thought I'd mention the topic as it was on my mind.
