I've asked for this before but I'd like to review group analytics and profile analytics to understand the traffic for these profiles and make more data driven and informed decisions: I.e. have I done enough to get RP on an oc. How many page views does my group get?
I think this is a great idea! Hopefully (if taken into practice) it will be able to help everybody in terms of getting more roleplays or whatever the player might be interested, so they can feel like they’re doing their part with some help; as good as they can
I'll out my support behind this. I recently wondered how many page views I had on a recent rp prompt actually, to know how many people actually look would be a helpful tip
I believe I’ve seen things like this in the suggestions but I think it was always an iffy thing because there are always the people who’d rather not have people look or have their movements tracked like that. I don’t know. If there is a solution for that I think it’d be fine for those people?
Yep that was me! : D I'm pasting it in here too since it seems more relevant to have this an option for the RPR reboot.
Concerns are fair in this day and age. I'd like to allay them and reassure you it's clean, non-identifying data I'm talking about. There's really no way of knowing the deep down data on a Googles Analytics level unless you're the Webmaster and that's all under lock and key.
For players a general, clean overview like a page-counter views per day/week/month might be an easy and informative solution on a macro scale. Knowing how often a profile has been viewed, seeing the timeline for this. It allows us to A/B test and change our profiles/groups to make them optimised and RP ready.

My concern is people who look and complain "my character has x views so why won't anyone play with me?" without understanding how to use the info they see.
And also maybe people like me who may review a profile multiple times in a day because I'm already in a game with someone and am double checking I've got things right, potentially leading to wonky analytics.

I wouldn't prefer this. This site not having it is one reason I prefer it over other websites. It would make me anxious, self conscious and confused to see all the numbers of who has viewed what, wonder what I'm doing wrong. What's wrong with my character.
I don't like the idea of analytics being a way to 'figure out what you're doing wrong' and 'get more interest' because 99% of the time there is nothing 'wrong' being done and people shouldn't change or feel like they need to change their ideas or posts, or characters based on analytics.
In my opinion implementing this would insight people feeling that way, whether it's intended to make them feel that way or not; and just seems unnecessary and could turn a fun thing into obsession and discouragement for many people.
Yeah it's a very 'modern' and popular feature but that doesn't mean it's a good one. Personally my life is a lot less fun and enjoyable now that every site has analytics.
(Most websites have the ability to see how many people have viewed your page and posts, I'm not just talking about likes or comments.)
Edit:. Whether it can be toggled on or off, I feel the same either way.
The only thing I'd be fine with there being analytics on is how many people are using an epic template for template makers.

Hi guys!
I'm not sure what you mean by every site having analytics that you can see.
Do you mean the likes/comments? I think those are public metrics that makes us compare ourselves -- whereas my suggestion for these are individual and up to the account owner to enable.
It'd be your decision to see and share those metrics. I hope that helps!
Generally, most sites restrict analytics unless you ask for it. I'm sure it could be an opt-in toggle like Instagram/Twitter for Business etc. I feel that would rule out the potential of people being driven by vanity metrics, feeling insecure or anxious or competitive, but we could always think up more features.for accessibility.
It doesn't have to be a sitewide compulsory feature that everyone sees and uses, but an opt-in.
Personally I'm a very data driven person. I like making informed decisions and changing strategies. These are.coping mechanisms for me because I have to qualify in my head that I'm doing things in an ordered and correct way. I like testing profiles, templates and seeing how much traffic certain profiles might be getting and whether then I should make more of an effort to post a seeking thread or reach out more. I like to know if I'm spending my time doing the right things, even with hobbies 🥀
Broadscope, I'm only thinking off the top of my head, but I believe there is a very real audience for the feature that would benefit from the information: template makers, group owners and people that have the intention to advertise their group and characters for RP and want access to it.
