The Empowered Movement

On June 6th, 2016, the entire globe was enveloped in a ribbon-like light similar to the aurora borealis, or northern lights, for a full 24 hours. As soon as it ended, it became apparent that approximately 10% of the entire human population went missing without a trace. There were so many missing that police and governments could not keep up with all the missing people reports. All searches ended July 9th, 2016.

September 22nd, 2016, the date of the strange global lights was given the name "Beginning Day," as many feared it signified the end of the world. Around the same time, July 9th became known as the "Day of Death Declaration" in many places. This was a truly troubling time. Anxiety over the issues built around the world and made some countries' governments weaken, civil wars rise slowly, riots burst out, and many other civil issues.

July 7th, 2017, many, if not all of the missing people have reappeared around the globe, however all appear to have amnesia. Due to this, nobody knows what happened to them.

July 9th, 2017, it has been discovered that a few of the returned people have developed special abilities. Most notable is one who has been found with the ability to geokinetically manipulate the already unstable ground beneath Venice. Hours later, they ended up lifting Venice into the air with aerial waterways and died. It is unknown what their intent was or if they meant to do this, but Venice does not seem to be returning to its original place any time soon.

July 28th, 2017 is the day that has shown that most of the returned people are gaining powers. Many places have dubbed last year up to June 6th as the end of the Old Era. The year between then and July 7th is known as the Lost Year. The current year is now referred to as part of the New Era. The people with powers developing have been dubbed by media as Empowered, or Emps or Pows for short.

On August 20th, 2017, the state of California has allowed the city of El Paraiso to begin construction on three government funded neighborhoods to house the currently homeless Empowered and move them out of the hospitals and therapy clinics. They will be provided free housing in exchange for weekly or monthly visits from government officials to check in on them and analyze them.

Today, on November 2nd, 2017, the 3 neighborhoods have been completed. They have been dubbed the "zoos" by locals and media. One has been placed near the beach areas, one near the heart of the city, and one near the outskirts. We will see what happens in following months.

The RP will start on the date of Thursday, November 16th, 2017 in the city of El Paraiso. Imagine it to be like a combination of New York, San Diego, and San Francisco.

There is a mighty change in the world on the horizon. Will her people be ready?
