Deep within the foggy woods rests Castle Erebus. Just like it's name, it is dark and the lands surrounding it are in almost constant darkness as the trees cover the villages nearby and the castle itself seems shrouded in perpetual darkness. It is said an immortal ruler lives there, with dozens of servants and guards. None of the outlying villages visit there, but they have been witness to dozens of cloaked figures that patrol the lands at night.
In the past, there have been attempts to assault the castle, but the thick forests and mountains make transporting siege weapons nearly impossible. Even an army of warrior priests were slain and never seen again when they attempted to purify, what they believed, was an unholy aura surrounding the lands.
Nevertheless, there does seem to be benefits that the villages are provided, as they are rarely raided by bandits and are kept under the protection of the Lord of Castle Erebus.
