The next morning, the prison door was thrown open roughly, and Vierrynne woke to the metal slamming into the rock next to it. Several drow pikemen marched in and took a defensive position, then the commander followed. He had a scarred face and was more muscular than most Drow. This one had obviously seen his share of fights.
He barked some commands.
"Plynn l'cretok, l'gnoll lu'l'sssiks darthirii!" Almost immediately, six drow stepped forth and took three of the prisoners; an Orc, a Gnoll and Sun Elf. The poor sun elf was visibly weak, having been away from the sun's light for a long time. if they were being taken where Vierrynne thought they were taken, he would be the first to fall.
When the drow and their charges left the cave and closed down, everyone relaxed again and a murmur rose among them. Vierrynne just sat there shaking. She knew about all this, but the shock with how they barged in and simply dragged those three out was immense. Even the Orc never got a chance to resist.
"L'nibeless inbal tlusher." she mumbled, only for those close to her to hear. the games have begun.

The noise woke Griffon up and he groaned with the soreness in his neck, shoulder, and back. He slept in a bad position. He quickly came to his senses when the drow entered. They had their weapons drawn and it startled Griffon enough that he reached for where his cutlass would have been, but was dismaid when he remembered it was gone.
The three prisoners were dragged out and he felt helpless to stop it, this made him a little angry. "Damn ugly," he muttered about the scarred drow after they had closed the gate.

Shae frowned. She had stayed up the entire night." I have a feeling we're next." She mumbled. Being carefully, she stood up and walked over to the door. She tapped the door to test it's thickness and cursed in drow." We need to get out."
"It's no use." Vierrynne replied, still curled up where she had been roughly awoken. "They're too thick, and magic won't work on them." She looked straight at Shaelyn. "Udos inbal nau kestal zet."
Avery was awake since the three were taken from the cell but she sat up when Shae had got up. Avery had heard that they were probably next but it didn't sink in yet. Not that she could die or have to kill someone soon. But she did feel the hunger settle in. "So you're saying we just have to wait to be taken like those three?" She looked right at the drow ignoring the fact that she had just spoken in her strange language.
Griffon suddenly perked up. "What if we jumped them!?" He looked almost excited at the thought. "When they start coming in we can jump the first ones in and take them down! They would just be entering and their spears would be rendered next to useless because of the door frame would be in the way. We would also be able to flank them from multiple sides!" Griffon looked at the others. "Guys, we can do this!"
Vierrynne nodded at Avery as she spoke first. "We might be able to get through the first round... That's a group round. If we're still in that stage of the games, the three that were just taken are possibly the group supposed to oppose us."
She then turned to Griffon. "Please... please don't do that..." she almost begged. "Even if you could overcome the first guards - which I doubt - there's mages on the other side. They're not afraid of killing their own men if it prevents a breakout." She swallowed. "most drow are like that..."

Avery nodded. "How likely are we, as you say, to get through this round?" She said this because that seemed like the only option. She wanted to believe Griffon, nobody could understand just how much she wanted to believe him, but she couldn't. Not with the way that the Drow had just told him no, not with the chances, not for him and not for her. She couldn't believe him. But she did glance at him, admiring his hope and cleverness, with that she gave him a slight smile "we will get out of here, but maybe the front door isn't the right way about it." And turned back to the all knowledgable Vierrynne.
Vierrynne sighed. "If those guys were our opponents, then the Orc would be the most fearsome one. He's used to caves. Not those of the underdark, but it's still an advantage. The Gnoll is our second most dangerous target. The sun elf will probably barely resist, if not just surrender from the start." She took a moment to think back to the first and last time she watched the games, back when her father forced her to.
"In the first round, the weapons are usually pretty diverse. The trick will be to get to the weapons pile as fast as possible and drive the others away from it. The Orc will be the slowest. The Gnoll will be the fastest."

The story teller looked at the two like they were the insane ones. "Yeah? How are we supposed to get out of here?!" He was more angery than anything else, which was actually quite rare for him and none to comforting to others when the happy go lucky one does so. Griffon stood up and, with a clentched fist, punched the cave rock beside him. His knuckles started bleeding, red as his frustration.
He was quiet for a second. Then he spoke. "I'm volunteering in the next group they take. I won't sit here waiting."

"I can sneak past when they take the next group." Shae sighed." It wouldn't be that hard." She looked at Vierrynne with a mischievous smile since the drow was the only one who knew what she was.
"Ka ol zhah faer, ol orn tlu astu..." SHe replied. "Alur ulu ser l'szeous lu'plynn natha alur mayar."
She turned to the others. "The orc i the hardest. If we get picked out then so be it... But we must take the orc first."
At that point the door slammed open once again and the same commander came in. His soldiers did too and surrounded him in order to protect him from the rebellious.
The man's head turned from prisoner to prisoner, resting on each elvenkind to inspect them. His eyes then fell on Vierrynne.
A smile spread on his face. "Vierrynne Arabatlar, dos inbal tlus muth."
Vierrynne's blood chilled in her veins as she crept back all the way to the cavern wall. they know?

Avery didn't know what he had said to the kind drow but it made her shiver with his tone. This time was different though. They didn't just come in and snatch up their victims. They seemed to wait out and look at everyone in the cell. Avery dared not to even breath in fear that she might have to go fight at this very moment however, she also wanted to volunteer. If those really were her competitors then why not go and win this fight. But she didn't move, didn't volunteer didn't talk just waited for them to take who they wished.
Griffon stopped thinking at this point and followed through with his word. He walked toward them and yelled at the commander, "hey Scar Face! Leave them alone. I volunteer to fight." He walked dangerously close to the phalanx. So close that he put two fingers on the spear's tip and pushed it up towards his neck. "Or would you rather spoil the fun your royal darkness?"
Griffon gave a cynical looking smile to the scarred man. His left hand was behind his back as it formed the circular okay sign to try and comfort other prisoners. With his right hand, his two fingers drew up the spear as he stepped again closer. The point was barelly touching the soft flesh where his chin turned into his neck.

The commander smiled back. His mouth sported a friendly smile, but his eyes were filled with evil as they bore into Griffon's.
"You humans are too brave for your own good." he said with perfect pronunciation. This man obviously knew the common tongue. At that point the spear tip retracted just a fraction, then thrust forward. The spear would slide along his side leaving a long and painful, yet very shallow gash. Griffon would then be kicked back.
"I urge you to relax." the commander continued. "Your time will come." He sent one more grin towards Vierrynne, then walked out of the cell along with his guards.

Shae noticed the drow male and stepped in front of her drow friend." Usstan volunteer 'zil al." She glared at the man and crossed her arms, showing she wasn't kidding. Shae was a lot older than most of her kind and she never used magic except twice with a Shifter's blade.
The Commander stopped in his tracks and just stood their facing the hallway outside for a moment. "Ves al, d'dos ssinssrin ulu el..." he replied slowly, but with a grin on his face. At that moment, six soldiers charged forth and took all four of them, bringing them up to their feet. A gem was pressed against Shaelyn's neck, and it immediately emitted to beams of light that ran arund her neck on either side and connected, sending the ring to float around her neck. The same thing was done to all of the others - their magic will now be punished by death.
Griffon landed hard and grunted as he grabbed his neck. The good news? This probably meant it wasn't poisoned. Then he grunted again and winced when the collar was put around his neck. He glared at them and spat at the one who put his collar on, then stepped back before he could be hit in retaliation to his kind of crude act.
Well isn't this lovely Avery thought. They probably had a better chance of winning the dang games but no, instead her and her friends were now locked up with collars on, and chains of course. They hurt to (not that she would expect any different. Avery found it interesting that Griffon kept pushing his luck with this Drow. She kept looking over at him. With looks of confusion and admiration. She kindof wish she could stand up for herself but she also knew limits, and generally BIG conquers small, this was not a place to test your rights.
Avery hated being confined in this collar. It was time to start planning. They needed a way out.

Shae glared at the commander. She never used magic, not even to transform so she was fine. She glanced at the others to make sure they were alright. She looked back at the commander as her eyes turned hawk yellow.
