The Band: They started off as three mates with a love for music. Many bands, gigs, and breakups later, they didn’t let the fact that Hack was soon to be studying music overseas get them down, and Hack and Pax decided to form a new band in the United States, Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey, named after the song by Gerry and the Pacemakers. After their first vocalist and then guitarist quit, Scooter came over from London to take up both those roles. The band is largely underground still, but is starting to make a ripple in New Versailles, London, and the surrounding areas.
Scooter: Greg - the pretty boy. Growing up in London he was the typical 'rebel' on the outside, went out of his way to appear dumb. But truly he has a great amount of intelligence and natural talent, especially when it comes to music. To try and curb his rebellion his parents bought him his first acoustic guitar, he loved it and played it constantly, even teaching himself vocal skills he would carry through in the future. It still didn't really help with his need to cover up though and he quickly fell in with the gang that gathered Hack up along the way. They have had way too many adventures to count and Greg wouldn't change it for the world. He was saddened to hear that Hack was leaving to study in the US and regretted not going immediately. But the day that the call came talking of a band, well Greg was on the next flight out! Now using those guitar and vocals skills that had been dormant up until then. And what better way to meet new people and make new friends than to be in a band?
Pax: Paxton grew up in and around The Wirral. Most of his life was spent in the bustling port city of Liverpool, which he embraced as he threw himself into the rapidly changing culture around him.
Hack: Hack grew up in London’s East End, where his mother quickly enrolled him in violin lessons at the age of 7 to help keep him off the rough streets. While he didn’t necessarily take to the violin, and quit lessons a year later, he did find that he had a passion for music though it wasn’t really anything they played in the classrooms. He took up clarinet when he was 9 and played in his school’s band for four years; during that time he moved to Croydon, London because of family troubles.
Not long after he switched schools to there, he met up with the local ‘gang’ of punks, most of whom he still hangs out with today, Scooter among them. One school holiday it was suggested that they take a trip up to Liverpool; it was here that they met Pax, now the band’s drummer. He taught Hack even more about the music that Hack already loved, and got him inspired to take up another instrument: the bass. He joined not only jazz band in school, but also local bands. Soon he moved up from filling in for absent bassists at gigs, to actually playing full-time in bands, the latest, and most successful one, being Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey.
