What little of the colony that currently exist on land is mostly located at the Kimberlite Island, which is roughly the size the state of Texas. Kimberlite Island is densely rich in diamonds due to the kimberlite which it mainly consist of- more so than any site on earth. Various other igneous rocks along with minerals scarcely found on earth make out the rest of the ocean floor, and while it is being outright denied by the Strick-Vas corp., most people believe this to be the sole reason Perseius was deemed suitable for colonization at all. State funding would have been denied if they went to space for commercial purposes.
The total landmass of Perseius equals that of about Australia and cover only about seven percent of its surface, and it's mostly scattered along the five tectonic plates where earthquakes are common. Kimberlite island already suffered one 3,9, one 4,2 and one 5,1 on the Richter scale since colonization was initiated, though without significant damage to man-made structures.
