The Rules
We have very little in the way of rules. These will be listed here:
Please remain IC at all time.
-- This is a given. In roleplaying you're bound to come across IC situations which require some amount of OOC. This is acceptable so all players involved can understand what is happening. Anything further than this needs to be taken to whispers.
Anything which will change the map of the dream must be confirmed first the administration.
-- This stands for verified characters as well.
Do not mesh OOC into IC/vice versa.
-- Unbeknownst to those not privy to the information, Greystone Tavern is the host to a resistance cell. This information is IC sensitive, and this OOC information should at no time bleed into IC actions. At no point should any OOC information bleed into IC situations.
No humans (see guidelines).
Characters may not be nude.
-- At least a strip of fabric covering chest and bottom for femmes and a sarong for males is needed for public play.
Guidelines
Guidelines you should take into account for the sake of continuity:
Technology
In the Dragonlands, Kasuria is a medieval kingdom with very little in the ways of technology with magic being their common resource. Renaissance advancement is beginning to take hold in major Ports and Cities in Kasuria, and steam is just now making the scene as an early technical achievement. (Early steampunk is acceptable.)
Pawgunnes
Pawgunnes are not restricted. However, with the country on edge and the King commanding many security checkpoints along major routes, furres openly possessing or carrying pawgunnes are likely to have them confiscated, with the exception of Noble houses who support the King. Pawgunnes are known to take a long time to load, are not very accurate and are extremely dangerous to both user and target as black powder can be highly unstable. More than a few steps away from the target and they're likely to miss. Please say tuned for instructions for dicerolling. There is a thriving black-market for both Pawgunnes and black powder.
(Semi) Restricted Characters
Semi restricted, meaning you can RP Canon-restricted characters here freely and without consent, but in order to have any impact on whatever continuity wide plot or story we have in effect, they need to be verified first by staff. We offer this advantage to you in good faith, assuming you will follow applicable canon restrictions and not take advantage of your power levels. Resources.
They're your characters..
I'd like to leave everyone's character up to their player's own creativity. They're your characters after all I'm not going to tell you how to play them. You're free to roleplay them how you'd like, with little restrictions imposed on you by the dream. Please keep in mind verified characters will have more opportunities to help shape and contribute to the dream, it's story line and plots.
Noble Houses --
There are no restrictions on noble houses, however if you play nobility you must know your alliance. See factions. If you get your character verified by staff, they'll have a greater chance of directly influencing major story arcs.
Elvenfurres --
Anyone may play any of the canon Elvenfurres, but please keep in mind that the Official Canon states Elvenfurres try to avoid mortal society! Please see these external references.
Vampyres --
Anyone may play a Vampyre. Please follow only Official Canon source materials which apply. If you are a vampyre that does not belong to The Covenant your character may not be well received. See resources.
Werefurres --
Anyone may play a werefurre following Official Canon source materials that apply. (Most if not all supernaturals are innately able to recognize the presence of other supernaturals) See resources.
Mages --
Anyone may play a mage, as long as they follow Official Canon source material. Those who are verified are able to have influence in the continuity. (Please see references)
Wyrmmes --
Wyrmmes may be played in Greystone but please be advised that within Kasuria, Furres tend to take a harsh view on them. Stick around for pending plots including wyrmmes.
Reptiles --
Reptiles may be played as a variety of wyrmme. This includes ancient reptiles, such as dinosaurs. It is likely that they will face the same prejudices as other "scalies".
Ferians --
Ferals are allowed in the continuity, if played following all canon-source material. Be aware that the king has placed a considerable bounty upon the head of all ferians. See references.
Angels, Demons, Djinn and other Mythicals --
These characters exist but we ask those who play them please put canon-acceptable twist -- I.E., Angels are messengers (etc.) for Primes, demons are minions of Dark Primes. Please play these characters appropriately, fairly, and within context without Godmoding. Please ask staff for further details.
Humans and Royalty --
At the time being, humans aren't official canon material and may not play in Greystone Tavern. Humans and royalty (e.g. House Haala) are the only character-restrictions we apply to our players. This may or may not be revised in the future.
Kits --
Currently, we do not ascribe to the common accelerated aging system for kits in Greystone. Pregnancies run for 9 months, and kits age as they would in the real world.
And finally...
"Upholding the Continuity is everybody's job. For example, if your character looks like a demon and the setting is a typical medieval village, they would probably get attacked and driven out or captured. Your character should take appropriate measures to hide their frightening aspects, or be prepared for that mob of villagers with pitchforks and blessed arrows. Similarly, the other players have an obligation to react with suspicion and hostility if they see your true features, unless they have a good IC reason not to." (Taken from Mastering the Art of Strict Roleplaying.) -
Verified Characters
While anyone is allowed to play here with characters that are within the guidelines, players who get their characters verified have a better chance of impacting the continuity as a whole. The idea is to keep storylines adhering to Dragonlands Canon rules and characters which have been developed and verified to be acceptable within the Dragonlands, therefore, have a higher chance of impacting the continuity be it through storyline or plots, owning/renting property, and so forth.
This is not a rule and characters do not need to be verified. However, it is handy for the staff to know which characters and players are active and contributing to and in the dream.
