Forums » IC Information » A Notice of Execution

A red inked notice that might be mistake for a bloody message has been pinned up where it can and in prominent places about the settlement. The letters are bold and demanding in that they be read immediately and with haste. It appeared just before sunrise and the fact that it was being pinned up by soldiers didn't bode well at all.

EXECUTION

Just past sundown there will be a Hanging at the Stables, attendance mandatory. If you are unable to attend you will be fined ten silver.
Any questions regarding the matter can be addressed by local soldiers. If you are not present they will be sent to fetch you.
Exceptions will be made for kits, the elderly and the wounded.

-- Ser Rexington

The soldiers would be verbally announcing this aswell while on their rounds and would begrudgingly read the notice to anyone that asked. When questioned about the execution itself the men only offered that it was due to an assault on a tax official. Rumor has it that the area's own Mikhael Solberg was attacked in his own home!

(This is just another IC mini-event that came about through RP! Attendance is ICly mandatory but it is definitely understandable if you can't make it online to be present for the event! As before a log will be posted and those who can't make it are encouraged to reply here with their character's reactions. If you'd like to set up RP where your character doesn't show and has to pay a fine just whisper me to let me know! :D Also a good place for posting your alt's reaction as playing multiple characters during the same scene can get pretty hard.)

(Edit: Should probably put the time on here, right?! 9PM FST is what we're shooting for approximately.)

Jack would show up- proper Kasurian citizen or not. Forlorn look upon his face at the news of his 'friend's' assault, he would be there to see whatever justice be done and would likely keep to himself during the event. (Will be around about 7PST, but if I miss it, I -was- there!)
Avani would not come as she's in the infirmary.
Shahir would not come because if he does, he'd be executed.
(Here is the logfile from last night, with ads, OOC chatter, and Pounce updates removed for your viewing pleasure! :)

Some have asked me if Ser Roger's appearance was a part of the event and I am very happy to say it wasn't! It added a nice twist to the night and turned what was going to be an execution into something else entirely!
For those that were not physically present for the voting, you're more than welcome to post your characters vote but to make sure things still turn out as they did during the RP itself it is to be assumed there is always an NPC voting against you and basically cancelling out the vote. i.e. Atheria will always be spared because those present spare her.)

Logfile!

(18:43:59) Paliana comes up the road looking awfully nervous and takes a seat on a bale of hay. She doesn't look like she wants to be here and has arrived early to say prayers for the accused.

(19:14:25) Rexington shifted his back against the wall so that he was sitting up more fully, eyeing the lop with a sideways grin. "Mika's gone off I think anyway. Toward Saff to get his papers and... eat some bugs they're both excited about." Rex balked again at the thought as he couldn't fathom eating maggots or centipedes or whatever it was he and Ana D planned on partaking in.

(19:18:15) Anastacia looks tired, so very tired and it shows in the hollowed rims around her eyes. "Gone off? Well good after the whispers of what happened he needs a vacation." She croaks with a rub of her eyes. "He and his femme also need some alone time, to do what couples tend to do." Her eyes flicker down the wall at the sound of prayers and with a small look to Rex she would slowly crawl to peer down with a hard swallow.

(19:22:58) Paliana is of course saying a long complicated prayer in the name of each Prime. She's trying to keep it awfully low so she doesn't disturb any furres in the area. Still the little femme looks terrified to even be out here. Think Fluttershy in rat form.

(19:27:29) Rexington nodded in agreeance, "He needs a good long vacation after that... my cousin decided to give him some sort of medicine. Made him rather loopy last nigh--" When Ana made a face Rex became aware that the light whispers he was hearing weren't just the wind. His brows perked as he pressed his back to the wall and began using his legs to push him up. Once standing he peered down, "What are you mumbling about?" The Knight asked with a smirk. People who acted like prey tended to be treated as such and Rex had no qualms about doing so.

(19:29:26) [#] The sun begins to creates a painting against the sky with vibrant orange, pink and purples as it dips below the horizon, casting the color against the lingering, misty clouds at sunset.

(19:35:52) Anastacia winced when his cousin was mentioned. It was like Voldemort, one did not simply brush the name or implications of the name off. "Ah, your cousin. A basket we will not fill right now." She mutters darkly. Rex giving their spot away, Ana ducks just out of sight as fast as she could and would slap at Rex's legs with the palm of her paw. "Be nice." She whispers. "The femme looks like a priestess."

(19:37:20) Paliana's head snapped up in surprise and obvious startlement, she stumbled back tripping over her own tail and falling into the dirt. "Oh! It's you!" she squeaks. Her eyes go over to Anastacia as the femme dips out of sight, then back to Rexington. With great difficulty she stands up again tripping over her own tail on the way up making her look the fool. "I...I...I was j...j...just saying prayers f...f...for the condemned a...a...and the other furres here tonight." she manages to squeak out with a great deal of stuttering. "I...I'm not very good in b..b...big crowds so I'm t..t....trying to get it done now."

(19:39:38) Rexington reached a paw down to casually swat at Ana when she slaps he leg, grinning as he murmured to her, "I know what she looks like. I'm just trying to-" Paliana nearly trips and begins speaking as the Knight's gaze flashes back to her. "Excuse me... but did you just say that you're praying... for the accused?" Rex laughed and shook his head in disbelief. "Some do not get to enjoy the good fortune and smile of the Primes, those who commit crimes are one of them."

(19:55:44) Anastacia rolled her eyes up at him when swat back. Her lips pursed at the tone. Eyeing the knight she offers. "Please calm my lady, while his words are true your generous prayers would surely be appreciated for the accused and well those that are to be here. It may ease the minds of many, you are sure you cannot perform prayers in front of the crowd?" She peers up at the knight. "It may be good for Moral." Her voice lowers "It would look better for you, if you allowed prayers and looked as though you were only doing your job in this situation."

(19:59:26) [#] Night approaches quickly and falls upon Greystone like a heavy blanket, shrouding the forest in a dark, dangerous mystery.

(19:59:37) Paliana's tail raises and she picks it up between both her paws. She lowers her gaze to it, and begins to wring it between both of them as one would wring a piece of fabric. " You d...d...do not have a say in who the P...P...Primes favor. They love us e...e...equally despite our imperfections" Paliana's words of defiance fade away when Ana speaks up. Her ears flattened but she listened carefully, her hair clinked lightly as her shells are caught in a breeze. "I c...c...could say a prayer in f...front of a crowd but I'm...not the best ..p...p...public speaker."

(20:02:48) Rexington peered at Ana with a sidelong glance as she spoke but his expression said he was atleast considering her words. "The people will assume what they want to when it comes to me. They always have and always will." he grumbled. The rat's words however have him scowling as his predatory gaze whipped back to her, "I forbid you to pray for a criminal, I do not forbid the Primes in their love or pretend to even fathom how a Prime feels you foolish priestess." he hissed. "A prayer for the crowd is different entirely and if you'd not too weak willed to stand and give one then please scram." The Knight sounded irritated for sure at her quiet defiance, paw curling into a fist behind him as he heaved a sigh.

(20:12:15) Anastacia's eyes dropped as the conversation turned, well not so friendly. His grumble merits a "It, does not have to be that way." In a soft but failing voice. Apologetic eyes fall upon the priestess a moment and Ana now stands. "What is the prayer priestess?" She then looks to Ser Rex. "Would, I at least be permitted to say a prayer for the accused?" She'd pray for him if he was on a noose. "I do not mean offense but Criminal or not it simply seems...just correct I cannot explain it."

(20:21:16) Paliana, instead of answering Rex in a direct way stepped back, and went into to her prayers for the accused outright defying his orders with ears having sunken right back into her hairline. The prayer was a song and her voice was as steady as the tide, contrary to her speaking voice, and one of the clearest voices one has ever heard. Her secret gift. [1/3 rounds]

(20:23:10) Rexington shook his head slowly back and forth while looking at Ana, "It wasn't just because she--" jerking a thumb down to her, "-- was saying it that I forbid it." This time Rex gave them both a pointed look, "Criminals don't need to have their path to the Dragon paved with ribbons and cobbles for them. If they truly belong in Its arms It will guide them. I'll say it again. Prayers are not to be said for the acc--" Paliana outright ignores the Knight and with a light snarl under his breath a paw shoots up to motion to some soldiers just a ways away that begin moving in on the rat.

(20:28:08) Narsuun entered just in time to see something very odd happening. Rexington rose a paw, and he saw soldiers moving toward a femme who appeared to be a priestess in prayer. He frowned, and moved deliberately passed one of the guards into the center of their formation - in front of Paliana. Gazing up at Rexington, he smiled brightly, pretending to be oblivious. "Good evening, Ser Rexington. Though I don't expect it will particularly pleasant for much longer. A shame, that stupidity remains rampant. Hopefully the example will sink in this time, aye?"

(20:30:36) Silver Sapphira approaches with Jayce, though she remains silent and generally keeps to herself while observing the goings on around her.

(20:30:51) Anastacia's eyes drop at the pointed look and without words the standing femme simply gives Rex a softer look, as though she hadn't believed he could be that cruel. Swallowing hard when Ana does speak all she could say is. "I should, go stand down there with the rest of them. I am no where near strong enough to stand here." She would wander into the barn and down he stairs to stand by Paliana with the intent of listening as the accused wouldn't be able to. The natural mimic trait could probably aid her in conjuring up that prayer again.

(20:32:20) Paliana has her eyes closed as she's singing and while she feels furres surrounding her she doesn't stop her song. [2/3]

(20:32:28) [#] The sound of soldiers could be heard through the town, banging on doors and requesting the attendance of each individual whether they liked it or not.

(20:33:54) Kali Heartland joins the group and sits on a barrel looking utterly bored.

(20:36:16) Rexington's soldiers are quick albeit hesitant to try and step around Leander, "Take her back to the temple. Now." He plain ignores the other Knight as the soldiers try and grab Paliana and escort her away. The very defiance of the act was only raising the manx's temper further as he looked toward the blue-grey cat, "If this lesson doesn't sink in I don't know what will." Rex watched Ana go downstairs but kept his position atop the landing. His eyes swept over the growing crowd and he fell silent.

(20:37:37) Jayce Ithil doesn't get involved, though a look of concern falls on the priestess. Then back to Rex then down to the ground.

(20:38:49) Lupus Vesper settles on the rock, violet eyes looking around with curiosity.

(20:41:18) Anastacia takes up a position right at the front. If she was going to see this, she was going to see this. She wasn't strong enough to look into the eyes of the femme that would fall but would be strong enough to watch the body drop for the accused's sake. Paliana's singing was slowly sinking into Ana's brain and wordlessly she mouths some of the words to make sure she's got the correct. Leander, looked towards at this point in time, her eyes suggest he ought to move out of the way for the rodent's safety.

(20:45:58) Narsuun gave each of the soldiers a quick look as they moved around him. He didn't impede any of them, but the act was clear and he wanted to see if they understood. "My Lord," he murmured, "we both have traveled extensively. In many provinces someone who is sentenced to die is entitled to see a priest. After all, we may only pass judgement in this life. The next is out of our paws. These traditions come from the same sources that bless the bloodline of the King. Prayer is not defiance, it is just prayer. I humbly ask that you advise the soldiers to treat the priestess with care as they remove her." At this point, he didn't much care what Ser Rexington said, the soldiers had heard. Potential allies could be hidden anywhere, by their actions now would he know. After all, he wasn't asking anyone to defy orders, just to not be a pig.

(20:48:41) Paliana is grabbed onto and offers little resistance when she's held, while her song stops briefly it starts up again and then changes into a totally different melody she looked up at Rexington her eyes sad. Was she singing about him now?

(20:52:21) Rexington's soldiers weren't monstrous even if they sometimes carried out poor orders. They didn't yank her about unless she protested, but when she started singing again one of them would give the rat a light shake. Maybe trying to make her stop for her own sake more than the Knight's. Rex's gaze was locked on Nar's he the male spoke and though the manx's eyes remained pensive a grin was growing. "A simple prayer for the condemned will not change the powerful mind of the Primes Leander. Such a foolish thought indeed. She had her chance to change judgement and instead what does she do? She attacks one of our own locals, a quiet and inoffensive man who's done no one any harm at all. Folk like that are undeserving of prayers. If this priestess is set in her ways let her do so at the Temple and no here where there is business to be carried out." He sounded reasonable, anyway. Just irritated. "Tradition isn't being tampered with but I'll not have her openly defy me to my damned face either." He lifted a paw as he surveyed the others, "Welcome everyone. Everything will be starting shortly. Are there any questions I might address?" Concessions not provided, please move quietly to your seats, the show is about to begin.

(20:55:24) Narsuun dipped his chin toward Rexington and glanced again at the soldiers. He watched with interest as they escorted the priestess away. He didn't respond any further, it wouldn't be a good idea to engage in theological debate when Rexington was waiting to spill blood. So instead he watched silently, returning Anya's glance. He managed a brief smile, and made his way over to her, standing alongside the lop as the proceedings commenced.

(20:57:08) Calliste approaches the area with Nethal at her side, having been talking with him until the neared the barn. She gradually falls silent though as they do so, a frown forming as she stands and quietly observes the goings on.

(20:58:22) Paliana fell silent but would start up again as loud as she could once she was in the temple itself.

(20:59:50) Jack Dalton would come walking up the path, paws shoved into jacket pockets. He was rather surprised to see the growing crowd. "Well I'll be." He'd eye everyone over, tempting to sort out friends from strangers. Doing his best to stay out of the way, he'd wander out from the path, putting his back to the stone as arms crossed about his chest. He looked nothing short of disgusted!

(21:00:41) Kali Heartland is still sitting over thar on the barrel.

(21:00:43) Nethal Lyre came up the path to watch the execution, accompanying Calliste that she may not have to watch the spectacle on her own. Not to mention the likelihood that he'd have to pay the fine or do time otherwise. Jaw clenched and usually mild eyes near as glared as a priestess of the Primes was being handled by the soldiers and escorted away. The quietly religious squirrel kept his piece, having only just arrived and knowing he could join the accused if he made a scene. But, a little fire could be noticed in him by those close enough, even behind his heavy, eye covering bangs.

(21:01:14) Anastacia - The word show threw the lop for a loop and the femme's face simply screws up. Her eyes search the crowd that began to show and she would burn the images of faces into her mind's eye. Shoulders back, they quiver obviously. Unlike the branding where she had steeled herself, this one she couldn't prepare for. Leander's presence does little to lessen the quivers that begin to take the lop's body.

(21:03:06) Jayce Ithil glances at Ana, forlornly so, sympathetic but not pitying. Then he turns back toward the barn.

(21:03:19) Kali Heartland yawns

(21:04:38) Silver Sapphira remains quiet and at Jayce's side, ears pinned back and observant - her attention falls on Jack though, picking his voice out amongst the crowd and she manages a slight twitch of a smile. It's not quite the right event to go giving smiles away to others.

(21:06:46) Rexington wasn't defied or answered and that was enough for him. Instead he'd launch into his usual grand-standing schpeel about why they were all gathered. "For those who don't know a few nights ago Mr. Solberg or Mika to his friends was doing his given duty of taking in taxes." He paused, beginning to pace the stable's small landing as he looked down to them all. "The accused, Atheria, didn't take lightly to what she was being charged and threatened him, stealing his ledgers and dumping them to the fire. When he went for help she stalked him home, breaking into his room and putting a knife through his paw and to deep into the table that he couldn't even get up to defend himself. Had I not been there to save him aswell as the help of his mate--" was he supposed to mention that? He just did. "-- we were able to detain her. The ever merciful meerkat only asked that she be given lashings and so I agreed... but the phoenix has asked to be executed and I won't take that right from her either..."

(21:11:09) Narsuun's ears flickered. Though he was saddened to see a priest turned away, Mika was his friend, and this was one public display of violence that he was quite happy to witness. At least this time the rule of law was being enforced fairly. Reaching up, he placed a paw briefly on Anya's shoulder.

(21:12:02) [#] The sound of heavy footsteps crunching towards the crowd was the signal for individuals to make way as a group of grim faced soldiers in formation arrived; Atheria, was carried between them on a wooden board.

(21:12:47) Nethal Lyre would place a paw above the elbow of Miss Calliste and gently tug for her to walk with him, shifting and shouldering through the luckily sparse left side of the crowd to also place free paw comfortingly upon said employer's quivering shoulder. In moving through the crowd and listening to Rex, he hadn't seen Narsuun do the same only moments before. Furrowed brows raised a tad during the speech. Atheria? The bird woman he'd visited in the jail last night?

(21:15:04) Vilemaw, the grim faced officer in the lead, helped to carry Atheria into the area with Ser Roger in tow aswell. The dark lion moved off instantly as the two soldiers carried the phoenix into the stables and up onto the landing with Rexington.

(21:15:40) Calliste's gaze settles on watching Ana for a moment, her frown firmly set in place. She picks up on Nethal's mood however and a paw lightly touches at his arm as though to calm him, remaining silent and listening, and also finding herself pulled closer into the crowd. Seeing as though he takes her to near Ana's side, she reaches a paw out to the other femme also to briefly gain the other's attention. A sign of silent support.

(21:15:51) Twila Elsey drew closer to Bao as the condemned femme was brought in. The little fox gripped the red panda's sleeve with an anxious frown, quiet and unobtrusive as ever.

(21:16:38) Jack Dalton's eyes met across the gathering to Silver- he'd give the woman a nod. And had Jayce or any other looked his way, a likewise response would be given. "...Just who tosses their life away." Spoken to no furre in particular. Atheria's choice (at least according to what Rexington had said!) seemingly caused him more grief than the physical harm done to his friend.

(21:18:05) Kali Heartland yawns louder. "Just toss the femme over and let's get this done with." she says at audible volumes.

(21:19:24) Atheria Blackwind appears almost serene as she's brought up to the top of the barn. She's broken, but...is that a smile?

(21:20:18) Silver Sapphira turns her attention away from the approaching soldiers with the accused, focusing her gaze on Jack. She makes a simple grabby motion at him with one paw. She wants him to come stand at her side.

(21:20:46) Athos Philokales never did care for spectacles like this-- public hangings, torture, and the like. He considered it barbaric.... then again, most cultures across the world engaged in such acts, including his own, so he was not one to talk. So, he kept silent, eyeing the event wearily, eager to return home and once again consider moving on from the region.

(21:21:13) Anastacia offers a frail smile to Leander first and then Nethal as he arrived. Calliste's small touch garners her attention only to have it ripped away as Kali's horrible voice and words offended her ears. If, those ears could've they would have flagged backwards quickly. Anger, flashes across her face but now was not to place or time. She remains tight lipped on the matter.

(21:22:09) Tarsh CobbleStone shuffles towards the back of the ground, looking on with his straw hat pulled low over his muzzle. His eyes move up towards the front, silently watching as the rest of his body remains perfectly still.

(21:23:02) Roger ti'Sabine appears in tow behind Vilemaw, Atheria, and the group of soldiers carrying her to the place she's supposed to die. At six and a half feet tall, he towers over most, even puts a few inches on Rexington. A man in his middle thirties perhaps. In many ways, not that much unlike the man at the head of the crowd. There's a knowing smile on his face, and he can't suppress his left eyebrow from being raised. "Ser Rexington!" he calls out slowly and excitedly from the back of the crowd, a voice that could easy carry over their voices. "I've been hoping to find you soon!" he says, quickly brushing forward, hands out to lay on unsuspecting shoulders and ease people aside as he snakes his way forward through the crowd. They've not met, but Roger has read alllll about him. "Quite a gig you've got going here. Your family must be honored to know their favored son is hanging petty criminals in... Where ever it is we are." a flash of a smile.

(21:25:53) Rexington didn't seem to mention the stretcher part or even why Atheria's bones appeared to be bent every which-way beneath her splints. He looked pleased when the soldiers finally brought her up despite the noticeable flag of his ears at Kali's words. The Knight says nothing and simply turns to face the crowd more fully. A wooden beam, thick and strong, had been nailed and extended off and away from the stables would serve as support for the noose that hung down, waiting for Atheria while swinging in a light breeze. "Shall there be any last words or objects before I carry out the King's Jus--" Ser Roger has raised his voice far over the crowd and the Knight cuts his words short in favor of grinning down at the Sabine. "Is this really the time? Would you disgrace a women's death only to get a rise from me?" He laughed! "Ser Leander?" From atop the landing the manx perked a brow down to the blue-grey cat as if to ask his own opinion on this lion's words.

(21:27:07) Jayce Ithil whispers quietly to Silver...

(21:28:03) Vilemaw's violent eyes flicked toward the lion he'd just been walking with moments ago, and taking his cues from Ser Leander also begins wandering closer through the crowd the best he can. It seems the actions of the catlord not to mention the height of Ser Roger have caught the attention of other soldiers aswell though they keep to their posts for the moment.

(21:28:09) Narsuun frowned when he heard someone calling Ser Rexington's name. He wasn't sure he liked the tone, and so he moved immediately away from Anya's side and stood in front of the stable doors, paw on the shortsword at his waist. He glanced up when his own name was called. "I think he's a dick, Ser Rexington, but then again I think you are too." He paused. "A necessary quality for leadership, if I may add. But this is not the time or the place."

(21:29:12) Atheria Blackwind at this present time, simply waits for the interruption to pass. Her gaze sweeps over the crowd quietly observing each furre.

(21:30:44) Anastacia - Had this moment been any lighter the femme may have burst out laughing until tears streamed from her face. The femme watches Atheria for the time being hoping to make eye contact so she could mouth a few words to her, if the pheo-hybrid could read lips.

(21:31:48) Athos Philokales cast a curious look at the condemned, eyes widening at her avian nature, something far outside the experience of one from the eastern reaches of the Mediterranean. A gentle sigh escaped him, lamenting the woman's impending execution-- not that she had not brought it on herself, but a rare opportunity to interview someone with such a unique perspective and origin was about to be lost.

(21:32:24) Bao Bao was here to support Twila and nothing more. He stood firm beside her, eyes trying to look between the furres in front of him to see through to the accused, though likely he wouldn't be able to. He wasn't exactly the tallest of the tall here!

(21:33:40) Roger ti'Sabine clears his throat softly to that, and raises his chin a little at Rex, "That's a odd way to speak to someone when you're being paid a compliment." He says, before turning over to gaze over at Ser Leander. a Flutter of his eyes as he seems to see the man for the first time, and his eyebrows shoot up high. A faint smirk, and he raises his hand to his chest, to bow politely his way, before his attention turns back to Rex. "Now's an excellent time, if the things I've been reading are anything close to true. I've got questions. Call them objections. Tell me, how long ago was the alleged crime committed?"

(21:34:56) Nethal Lyre's temper was cooled, if only a little by Calliste's touch of support. As Lady Anya nodded to him, features relaxed, sadness and a reassuring smile. One paw was still on her shoulder as she burst into hysterics and tears. Eyes looked up to the brave avian, hand removing from his employer's shoulder just long enough to place fist at center of his chest in solute to the condemned when her eyes passed over him, just as he had the previous night. Hand quickly returned to Anya's shoulder in support, eyes glancing to Calliste to see how she fared before gaze moved to the commotion some tall authority figure was making with Ser Rex. (21:36:43) Nethal Lyre: [Shiz, amend my post. Anya didn't burst out cryin'. Read wrong.]

(21:35:46) Jack Dalton wandered around behind everyone as he was requested at a different end of the crowd, still rather bewildered to the whole event. He would shoulder up next to Silver, apparently getting a front row view.

(21:37:52) Tarsh CobbleStone continues watching quietly from where he is, leaning just slightly to the right. Like a stoic mountain of fur and bear his eyes are up just enough to see from under the rim of his hat. Otherwise there is no reaction or emotion displayed.

(21:39:17) Rexington blinked down at Leander, notably surprised by his response no matter how large his grin was. He ground his teeth together a moment and even in the lamplight there was no mistaking the irritation in his eyes. For a moment the crowd was forgotten and he only looked to Ser Roger. "I'll not remind you again, Sabine. I'd be glad to discuss myself with you when this is done." The lion did wish to know more about the crime and that much the manx could oblige as it fit under his 'objections' heading. "Two nights ago, but what does that matter?" The soldiers have set Atheria down but made no move to ready her for the noose. Just how one was to hang a byrrde over a crowd when should couldn't walk would be sinisterly apparent in a moment.

(21:40:11) Calliste keeps a paw lightly touching Ana's back to continue the support, though her gaze is set on watching the Knights and ears perked to the conversation with clear concentration.

(21:40:20) Kali Heartland comments offhandedly. "Oh Primes. Now there's objections?" she crosses her arms in impatience changing the leg she had crossed. "Booooring."

(21:40:29) Narsuun, having just finished insulting both of the highborn folk, oddly recalls his physical manners, if not his verbal ones. When Roger bows to him, he takes his paw off the hilt of his sword and instead places it over his heart, to return the bow. The implied threat had been made, he didn't feel the need to make it again, so he kept his fingers away from his weapon. Concerning the objections, his ears perked and his brows rose. This was interesting. On any other day, for any other crime and any other criminal he would have had objections of his own. But he couldn't deny his personal connection to this case. Still, if an official objection were levied by a noble, this could get complicated.

(21:41:46) Atheria Blackwind notes Ana's word and her eyes glitter, shoulders seeming to stiffen. She makes a gesture with one taloned hand subtle but meaningful to the femme perhaps. Though some furre was objecting she was more interested in Ana's reaction.

(21:42:02) Jayce Ithil took a step back from the pair of Felines as Silver and Jack get close to each other.

(21:43:26) Roger ti'Sabine gives a little laugh to that, there's no malice in it though, just plain amusement. He tilts his head, smiling broader, "So, let me surmise. A crime occurred, you investigated, and in two short days, you've determined that this young lady is deserving of death." he says, and slowly, his smile begins to fade. "Does that sound about right?" The expression on his face is not quite grim, not quite disapproving. Almost like a mother whose caught their child in a lie really. "Does that sound anything like 'fair' to you?" he asks. "Where's the victim?"

(21:47:08) Anastacia actually straightens for a moment and manages a real smile for Athera's sake. Soft, mothering but sad. It fades just as easy as it arrives, the significance of her hand motion not lost on the femme. As Roger continued with his words, the lop seemed to shrink.

(21:47:16) Silver Sapphira frowns at Jayce's whispered words, glancing ever so briefly in Atheria's direction and then back to the male when he steps away once Jack is at her other side. She merely frowns at him now, though shifting her weight to lean slightly against the male that remains at her side.

(21:49:02) Rexington's brows rise slowly at the lion's words, looking as if he wants to laugh aswell... though maliciously as he could manage. Rex took a moment to survey the crowd with his golden eyes, even lingering down on Ser Leander again before finding Roger in his gaze. "It's it abit different when not only myself but another witnessed both crimes she's been charged of, truth be told. Tell me, are you a magistrate for the county or are you done wasting my time? The victim, and since you're clearly new here, Mikhael Solberg has been rushed off to a mage healer in Saff to save his paws for this bird wounded him so badly he had no use of them." The better question in this situation is why on earth Atheria looks as if she was beaten so badly most of her bones were broken.

(21:50:26) Narsuun cleared his throat gently. "Ser, the accused was caught in the act, and a guilty plea combined with a request for the death sentence... A full investigation would be a waste of time and resources." He looked up for confirmation of those facts from Ser Rexington, and in doing so caught Atheria's little gesture. That caused him to frown more deeply. It only gave him more cause to want this over with quickly.

(21:53:21) Atheria Blackwind's words ring loud and true. "Sugah..." she calls down to the male. "Ah ain't denyin' what ah' did." she managed a click of her beak. " Ah'm real sorry 'bout hurtin' Mikhael reckon ah' don't remember nothin bout th' situation though."

(21:53:46) Jack Dalton leaned against Silver, his left hand popped out from a pocket as fingers wiggled out to reach after her paw. He'd look behind her, eying Jayce curiously before facing forward again.

(21:54:33) Roger ti'Sabine leans slightly to peer past Rex and on to the condemned. Rex's words don't seem to impress. "How terribly convenient that the victim of the crime happens to be very, very far away, where his opinion on this matter cannot be heard." he says, softly, "First of all, it's up to the victim to decide whether or not the accused should be branded a criminal. Second, people make false guilty pleas all the time! Perhaps she just doubts she'd get any fair investigation out of you, and decided to simply give up." he supposes, "And I have to wonder, how is it that she ended up in such a deplorable condition? Did she take these injuries in the course of the alleged crime? Or... After?"

(21:55:11) Nethal Lyre's muscles braced rigidly as that snow leopard (Kali) let fly more impudent remarks. Head slowly turned in her direction, glare potent as any verbal remarks. Probably wouldn't be seen though, as it was directed from a bit behind her. Head then turned as he looked to the ensuing discussion about the fate of the prisoner. Sabine's inquiries were restoring some of his faith in the military elite. Ear twitched and expression softened.

(21:56:52) Tarsh CobbleStone starts to lean a little to the left instead of the right, but otherwise doesn't do anything else. He watches from under his hat, and ears remained perked up to catch the words of others.

(21:58:44) Kali Heartland rolls her eyes at all the talking. She leaned against the wall head thunking gently as she closed her eyes to take a nap through all these politics. zzzz

(22:01:57) Silver Sapphira continues to frown at Jayce, finding any excuse to not look to where the main event was to take place, until her paw is caught by Jack's. Her focus turns to him instead now, leaning against him some more and applying a light squeeze to that paw.

(22:06:35) Rexington's eyes contained a thinly veiled threat to the lion's life that was entirely unspoken. Aside from that he was all smiles and chuckles when Atheria replied to Roger for him and he raised a paw to cut the other Knight's words off entirely. "Ser Leander is right, an investigation to a witnessed crime is a waste. You walk in here new as a fresh eyed babe and spout similarly childish nonsense to the crowd when you know nothing, Sabine. The victim asked me for mercy and I obliged entirely, only planning to give the accused a lashing for her very serious crimes. Assaulting a tax official in a larger city would have been an execution regardless. But she begged me to put her down despite my pleas of her to reconsider." He exhaled, "So you see, despite your pining to myself for due process I assure you despite whatever bit of slander you've been reading I am all for investigating and mercy." Just months ago he was poisoned and only branded the man responsible when the law claimed he should be hung instead. "And it was the victim's own mage-mate that broke the woman's bones, not I, to get her to stop attacking and to avoid further damage to Mika and herself." The Knight was growing tired of the meddlesome questions and decided to try and end this, "Now should you have any further questions Lord Sabine I ask that you save them for myself after. Should you speak up again I will not hesitate to have you escorted and fined for you insolence."

(22:10:02) Narsuun's ears twitched again. He looked up at Atheria and for a moment his jaw hung a little loose. Then it set again, and he turned fully. "What do you mean you don't remember it?" He asked. "What's the last thing you remember before assaulting Mr. Solberg?" As much as he agreed with the sentencing in this case, he just couldn't resist a good old mystery. Especially if it might have some magic involved.

(22:10:39) Roger ti'Sabine clears his throat, and his head gives a big startled shake, as if Rex just claimed to be banana. He chortles. "Excuse me?" he asks, as he leans forward, raising an eyebrow, "You're killing her... Because she told you to..?" he asks, raising his eyebrows, leaning to the side again, and pointing, "Her? Is she your vassal-lord?" he asks, "Is she your superior officer?" he asks going on, "No? Then why the hell are you taking orders from her?"

(22:15:02) Atheria Blackwind takes in the furres directly below, mainly Ana and Narsuun addressing the former while making motions for them to move back from the barn a good ways. "Ah' lost mah wings in th' Drakorian war. Those memories are triggered by thangs...Mikhael triggered one ah 'em an ah blacked out. Thought 'e was ah' Drakorian spy." She didn't want them near her body when it dropped...IF is dropped! Shoo! Shoo! "Mah injuries...Ah came to jus before n' yielded t' Rexington. Ah yielded three times. Mikhal's mate broke 'em anyway but ah' can't blame 'er when ah' did what ah did t' 'er mate." If only she could lip sync to the pair. Alas, no lips and she was no flappy bird, go ahead google search that freak.

(22:27:31) Rexington's eyes did a once over of the quiet crowd as they fell completely silent. A paw lifted to motion toward the soldiers to begin drawing in toward Roger but not to attack while he muttered down to Nar, "Ser Leander, if you would while you're questioning the accused please take care of Lord Sabine." Rex seemed every bit as irritated as he was with that tone, as if the blue-grey cat were just drawing things out further. But as Atheria spoke he rounded on her with a smile. "Alright. How about this, for further prove that there are no misgivings or nefarious behind the scenes deals going on. Would you like to trade your plea for execution back down to the original victim's sentence of lashings?" The Knight only smiled and then looked toward the crowd so as not to appear as if he is pressuring her.

(22:30:30) Roger ti'Sabine clears his throat pointedly at that, "Ser Rexington; The law does not give a damn about what the accused thinks their punishment ought be. The law gives death to those deserving of death, and mercy to those deserving of mercy." he says with his eyes going wide, head going down, "So if you want to hang this veteran of our foreign wars whose bled in the name of our country, be my guest; but know that the choice is entirely on you; not her."

(22:31:59) Anastacia steps back as motioned but her eyes remain on Atheria.

(22:32:24) Atheria Blackwind opened her beak to speak and instead with beak agape turned her gaze back down to Roger. Well hell, that was a good point... Ruined anything dramatic she was going to say.

(22:34:07) Nethal Lyre's eyes looked to the bird woman, hoping to Primes she might choose to live. Hope was tempered with the knowledge that, were she to change her sentence back... She would likely take the lashes then and there, with her body already mangled and wrapped in bandages and splints beyond counting. Rexington's ire, squirrel thought, would find it's release in Atheria either way. He blinked and stepped back as Anya bumped into him by doing the same thing. Once his eyes returned to the avian he saw that she didn't intend to answer. Confused, gaze shifted to Ser Rex.

(22:38:26) Kali Heartland opens her eyes and blinks. "Oh by M'Rill's Tits." she says exasperated. "Are you all STILL talking?" she hops off the barrel. "I am sick of waiting for this byrdde's neck to snap." she tosses silver coin at Narsuun's feet. "I'm going home. This farce would never be allowed in Malgrave."

(22:41:24) Vilemaw looked as if he wasn't sure what course of action to take. He usually favored Ser Leander's restraint in such matters and watched the catlord closely for guidance. At the Knight's paw-orders however the officer began drawing closer as Kali's outburst rang through the quiet crowd.

(22:41:26) Narsuun glanced at Roger, then back at Rex and the accused. Unfortunately, he found himself agreeing with the new dick on the block. Sigh. "As the accused has no reason to lie, sentence having been passed, I feel I must mention for the record." He paused. "The mental state of the accused is diminished. To what point we cannot be certain until a proper examination can be made, causing any testimony, or request she makes concerning sentencing to be... Not trustworthy." This time, his eyes rested upon Roger. "That being said, past deeds do not cancel current crimes. The rule of law must be blind. Ser Rexington, any sentence given should reflect that, and not the wishes of a woman has decreased capacity to see to her own autonomy." When a coin was tossed at his feet, he snarled at its owner, but did not make a move toward her. He did step forward toward Roger. "Ser, I have been ordered to escort you from the premises."

(22:47:13) Rexington's predatory eyes narrowed on Roger, "The law which you seem to think you know so much about says that anyone who so much as assaults a tax official is to be executed. So you're wrong in this case, Lord Sabine, and I'm confused as to what you're asking for... a moment ago you were questioning her "unlawful" execution and suddenly now you hide your lack of firepower behind the very law that disputes your point?" Rex quite literally barked laughter, "You accuse me of killing her because she asked and then when I inquire as to her assurance in the matter you call me out on being merciful? Well my lord I have to call your soundness of mind into the matter." Leander seems to be openly agreeing with the lion and the manx tilts his head, "What is to stop her from attacking again, Ser Leander? From offing herself? As she said, this is a social justice being carried out. While she may have had a break with reality at the time she was very sound of mind when she begged me to execute her."

(22:48:54) Roger ti'Sabine simply starts backing away from Rex. He's said all that he can say; anything else would diminish it. With the Noble Leander coming to take him away, he shrugs, "It's just as well." he says, turning, and offering his right arm out, in a hook, and gestures to his elbow, "So, escort me." he says, before casting a laughing gaze after Kali, "Oh, there's hardly a day that goes by where a farce does not occur in Malgrave. Least, that's how it was when I left it some years ago... I trust that hasn't changed."

(22:52:51) Atheria Blackwind awks softly. "What th' ..." she frowned lightly. She'd been ready to die today. "But..." her protests becoming weaker and weaker. Head swiveling between Leander and Roger alternatively.

(22:55:03) Narsuun glanced back at Rexington. "My Lord I was not disagreeing with you. However I felt the need to state the facts as I see them. Her mental state cannot be accounted for. Unless your good doctor was present to confirm it. You stated that you were willing to provide clemency until she told you that she wished to die. I'm telling you she cannot make that decision for herself. If the safety of the community is your primary concern, why not ask the community whether they would be willing to bare the extra burden of taking care of her? They're all here." When Roger offered up his arm, Narsuun shook his head. "Ser, I will not lay my paws on you unless I consider it to be necessary."

(22:57:05) Kali Heartland smirks as she walks away. "If Malgrave had what you call a farce then this, sir...Is a circus." she motions to the common furres more than the actual furres involved. She doesn't stop to hear a respond.

(22:58:57) Roger ti'Sabine riggles his arm out, and continues backing off, with Leander behind, "A tasteless joke." he assures, warmly, before leading the way, he'd not dishonor the good Ser with resistance in this case. "Then do escort me to the Bar in either case, talking at brick walls dries the throat rather quickly."

(22:58:57) Bao Bao watched Kali go. "Primes, some people are just absolutely rude. This is a woman's life not cheap entertainment." He huffed. There. His two coppers for the night.

(22:59:31) Rexington did not take kindly to being spoken out against or even defied over small manners. Not when he was supposed to be the big fish in a small pond. Rex's grin twisted into a solemn look, "On second thought Ser Leander, take him to the gaol. I wish to speak with him in an official capacity much like I had to do with you at one time." But as asked the Knight turned toward the crowd and again that grin appears, his fluid motions much like that of a game show host. "Foreigners, locals, travelers. I have been asked, for the good of the community, to poll you. For some reason the official headings of the law have been thrown out in favor of you all deciding her death over her own judgement."

(22:59:38) Calliste will have to post the remainder of her reaction to whatever happens on the forum because it's 5am.

(23:00:58) Vilemaw kept silent on the matter, not favoring his opinion nor feeling it needed to be said. He kept his eyes on over toward Leander and Roger instead as he waited to see if his help was needed.

(23:02:15) Narsuun fell into step behind the other knight. He paused, to look back and acknowledge Rexington's orders. He wanted to stay and advocate, but he knew that the more folk did that, the less chance anyone had of being heard. He did glance at Vilemaw, and smiled gently. He'd seen the man look to him. Then he shook his head. He wouldn't need any help. Moving closer to Roger, he murmured, "we'll stop by the bar first."

(23:03:24) Roger ti'Sabine can't help himself but laugh off Rex's order. He's got a hearty and delightful laugh, that comes from the bottom of his chest. "Yes! That's precisely where I belong tonight." he says, sarcastically, before he leads the way, Leander in Tow, straight off to the bar.

(23:04:47) Alliah comes up quietly from the back, perhaps she had been watching from the shadows for some time. For now, the lioness remains a bystander, a disapproving bystander, but a bystander nonetheless. Her blue eyes are pierce through the night.

(23:06:18) Atheria Blackwind now turns her gaze to Ana with this... 'da fuc' dumbfounded look on her face. She is so stunned by the events. Eyes move to the swinging rope. Inches from death... Huh. Go figure.

(23:08:13) Atuanya is also here. Here to watch but nothing more.

(23:09:43) Jack Dalton would not, nor could not speak for Atheria if she could not speak for herself. As the crowd was addressed, he merely looked at Rexington as if the fellow manx was crazy.... Which Jack believed he was. Yes indeed.

(23:12:41) Rexington watched the ever silent crowd as no one spoke up for or against Atheria. Rex just shook his head. So many of them had opinions against the manx and yet when given a proper forum to speak out against his actions no one took the chance. Does that make him right? He rubbed his paws together in a frustrated motion. "A show of paws, maybe?" he asked with an exasperated grin. "What's to say you or your loved ones won't trigger this woman into putting a knife through your paw? Is this a social service being carried out of a murder? Come on now?" He gave them one more chance to speak before he gave his final judgement. "Show of paws for nay, maybe?" (Nay to executing her, if that needs clarification.)

(23:13:56) Atheria Blackwind's feathers fluffed lightly. She didn't care either way she was far beyond broken to really care.

(23:14:26) Anastacia stands there she does not know what to say to this and could infact play the it isn't her place to speak as a herbivore card. She drops her eyes in a subservient manner. Speaking for or against just seemed like a trap for her.

(23:14:53) Twila Elsey was not tentative. She rose her paw quickly, and flicked Bao's shoulder for him to do the same. Rex's logic was sound, but... this was a femme's life!

(23:15:37) Alliah is with Anastacia on this, speaking out for or against could have repercussions either way. The lioness stands quietly with her paws folded infront of her, eyes on Rexington and all of his commanding authority.

(23:16:28) Nethal Lyre raised a paw suddenly. "Nay!" His usual, half-whisper tone was abandoned as clear tenor voice range out amidst the silence of the crowd. Head shifted to either side in a brief moment so fierce eyes looked out relatively clearly from partially parted bangs.

(23:17:17) Athos Philokales kept his own paws down-- not that he did not feel compassion for the broken woman and her associated issues, but she had proven herself to be a danger. There was little one could do for someone with such issues in this day and age, and in the meantime, she could harm others.

(23:17:37) Jayce Ithil saw a flick of dusty fur behind him, and grunts seeing Twila. The fox shuts his lone eye tightly clenching his muzzle tightly before raising his paw in kind. He wouldn't raise the middle digit, simply raising his paw was enough.

(23:18:46) Jack Dalton chose to raise his own hand valuing life over all else. Nothing was said, however.

(23:19:17) Vilemaw kept his paw down and his eyes on the crowd uncertainly, almost surprised to see paws being raised for some and kept down for others!

(23:20:59) Bao Bao looked to Twila as she got his attention and he would shake his head once over, "It's not my place." He spoke quietly. He did not know Atheria nor the crowd but that was not to say he did not feel for those concerned.

(23:22:43) Rexington counted three, maybe for Nays? He figured some, like Bao, might abstain entirely from voting. "And for the Yay's?" he asked tentatively. This is what it really came down to, could those for keeping her alive truly outweigh those that wished her dead in some capacity?

(23:23:29) Atheria Blackwind watched carefully but didn't say much. She was still a little baffled at this current outcome.

(23:27:00) Alliah remains neutral!
(23:27:07) Anastacia does too!
(23:27:07) Atuanya as does he!

(23:29:18) Athos Philokales quietly raised his hand, his eyes hard but downcast, not looking at the woman. Athos knew how the memories of war could plague an individual, and had seen veterans go through similar spells of madness-- and knew how dangerous they could be. The woman had proven herself to be a danger, assaulting an otherwise innocent man in her daze, and he knew there was little help that could be offered in this day and age. Better she die now, or at least be imprisoned, before her madness lead her to injure another.

(23:33:22) Atheria Blackwind notes Athos' paw and then his form. Memorizing him. Her feathers fluff a little more at the thought that these furres want her to live. "But..." she says softly looking down at her paw. "...But...." she looked to Rexington eyes welling up with what looked to be tears?

(23:34:39) Atheria Blackwind slowly...Raises her own paw while looking right at him.

(23:35:09) Rexington looked very, very surprised. His brows shoot right up as he sees a single paw go up, and Athos' of all people. Rex cleared his throat, looking over to Atheria one last time as if to reconsider his decision to ask the crowd. No matter, they'd spoke. "Those of you who remained neutral are just as much at fault as those of you who said Nay to keep this women alive... if she hurts anyone, it is on each and every one of your heads. It seems there is only one with a clear conscious tonight." He turned to Atheria again, motioning for the soldiers who carried her up here to begin carrying her back down. "Take her back to the gaol. You will stay there until you are well enough to serve your lashings and then by the mercy of the settlement you will be set free..." The Knight looked so very uncertain but the soldiers acted regardless.

(23:36:28) Atheria Blackwind was in excruciating pain holding her effing paw up there. She raised it higher. The splint cracked and fell off...Her arm bending in three different WRONG places. She stared at him.

(23:37:05) Alliah won't be subject to this anymore. The lioness turns on her feet and makes haste back towards the tavern, a storm coming in on her features.

(23:37:14) Twila Elsey thought her conscience quite clear despite her vote. She had no right to condemn a furre to death. She gripped Bao's arm tightly and then whispered to him, supposing it all over now.

(23:38:09) Jayce Ithil shook his head, if that was all, then he would make to leave.

(23:38:47) Bao Bao nodded to the whisper. Presuming whatever was going on was at end- despite Atheria continuing to display her desire to be hung. He honestly did not want to see that end result. "Yes." Paw was offered out to the fox, and unless stopped, he would follow her away.

(23:39:29) Atuanya grunts out loud.

(23:41:05) Rexington just shook his head to the byrrde as the soldiers carried her back within the stables and then out the front doors. People began dispersing and so the Knight made no move to pick their brains again. Instead he moved to follow them out. He had business in the gaol all the same.

(23:41:40) Jack Dalton felt like being Florida and changing his vote as he watched Atheria raise her hand higher. Not that it would have done anyone justice. Instead, he turned and ushered (the physically absent, but presuming she was there) Silver Sapphira out and away from the crowd. Moving back to his room to try and forget the going-ons as it was largely none of his business.

(23:42:47) Athos Philokales scoots off in much the same direction, ironically following behind Rexington-- he really needed to move out of his apartment, considering it was RIGHT NEXT to Rex's.

(23:42:59) Atheria Blackwind is carried in Rexington's wake... Like some crazy character out of Dune.

(23:43:25) Anastacia lingers longer still and would actually go into the barn and up the stairs. If not stopped she intended to take down the noose, it was valuable rope and such she was going to give it back to them if they still wanted it. If not she was gonna keep it because bitches like rope.

(23:44:56) Nethal Lyre's own fierce eyes deteriorated from there previous conviction quickly, seeing Atheria's own well with tears. As her arm broke and splintered, ears twitched as he considered raising paw again to ask if he could change his own vote, but decided like Jack that the die were cast. Turning away as they carried the avian off, he slowly made for the tavern. Wine tonight, not water. Maybe whiskey. Hidden gaze welled as he made the journey.

(23:45:20) Atuanya lingers here until the entire crowd disperses.

(23:47:33) Rexington would have the post of thick wood brought down and unailed from the stables in the morning. The rope could be taken down though Ana would be looked at funny by the soldiers for her actions. No one would object to her taking it, the certainly had enouhg to make another. The Knight eyed various people as they passed him but didn't stop them or bother them, even those that looked like the might want to change their opinion. Off to the gaol they went!

Calliste would have remained neutral on the matter and then quietly continued on her way once the decision was made, a clear frown in place and ears folded back.
