Age of Tribes [0-500 J.R. (Jarix Rising)]
The Age of Tribes was a messy, chaotic time in history. Various tribes waged war on each other. Tribes were very nomadic, moving from one place to another as they struggled to survive the monsters of Sartak. Exact details of certain events such as the War of Rivers are unclear as the Jarix had not yet formed a writing system. This period of history was passed down from word of mouth, making some details slightly untrue. However, what is known is that the War of Rivers was a pivotal turning point for the Jarix.

The War of Rivers, said to take place around 120 J.R., changed the face of the Jarix. The War of River was fought near the Twin Rivers, which were tributaries of the Raj River. Two tribes fought for the control of the Twin Rivers: the Yunat Tribe and the Faxik Tribe. One side of the Twin Rivers was a long stretch of barren desert. On the other side was fertile, luscious land, perfect for farming and hunting.

The two tribes camped near the river and fought viciously against one another in order to seize control. Both sides suffered heavy losses. The Yunat Tribe lost 100 tribesmen and its leader. The Faxik Tribe lost most of its most important members and lost 79 tribesmen. Legend has it that a gigantic monster appeared from the Twin Rivers and attacked the Faxik Tribe, ending half of the tribe's members. The next day, the Faxik Tribe surrendered to the Yunat Tribe, knowing that they would lose. Some believe that the Yunat Tribe prayed to the gods the day before and the gods rewarded the Yunat Tribe with victory. Some say that the Faxik Tribe had a huge feast and discarded their leftovers. Their leftovers attracted the monster to their camp and attacked the Faxik Tribe.

Whatever the answer might be, the Faxik went from a badly wounded, but hundreds strong tribe, to a measly one-hundred member tribe overnight.

The Yunat Tribe forced the Faxik to the barren side of the river where the Faxik Tribe spent the majority of its life. The Yunat Tribe blocked any Faxik attempt at crossing the river. Interaction between the two tribes was strictly forbidden. These attitudes which had been set by the leaders of each tribe laid down a foundation that was perfect for segregation and discrimination. From then on, the Yunat Tribe went on to conquer several tribes and united them under the name of the Janri Tribes. The Faxik Tribe, however, suffered famine and disease. Despite the many issues that befell the Faxik Tribe, the tribe experienced a massive boom of newborns at an unsteady growth rate.

Soon, there was barely enough room for the Faxik Tribe. Many began to defect to the Janri Tribe, though they were treated as the scum of society. As centuries pass, these views of the Faxik grew to be even more bigoted.
I think that looks great! I'm going to start compiling all the different history segments as a textbook sort of thing in google for now. I doubt anyone else besides us really care about the history as much so we can probably just work through that on our own for the most part.
Update: Spent last 25 minutes of my life designing a textbook cover. I like the details too much and making things feel lived in for players/readers is just too darn important to me.
I wrote more than this but it got deleted because of me doing something stupid.

What I wrote before was along the lines of this:
  • Tribes turned into city-states
  • Some included x city-state (was a trade empire), x city-state (an infamous warring state) and the Janri city-state (the largest)
  • Tribes like the Faxik never settled permanently

What does the textbook cover look like so far? :o
I'll send a link in the next while, uploading screenshots externally is irritating.

It's done in google docs because that's what I have access to, so it isn't super fancy but it works.

And it's got something that the other main piece of visual info has and those kind of tell their own stories

It looks awesome!
Dude! that's awesome!
Awesome, maybe, but entirely unnecessary for the most part. At least it's making me flesh out the sad excuse for a timeline more.

If anyone has anything they want to add or detail with that, please let me know! I plan to make this book in entirety as a player resource book.
Age of Tribes [0-500 J.R.; 3131-3631]
By 320 J.R., tribes have settled permanently and formed into city-states. The largest city-state at the time is Oxawk, which was settled at the coast of the Barrwak Sea. Oxawk's ports turned to be a massive center for trade and culture.

The Janri tribes turned into the city-state Jarix. Jarix's fertile lands turned out to be rich in two metals: rhadion, a lightweight but very strong metal, and erinite, a metal with healing properties. These two metals helped to thrust Jarix into the most advanced city-state, leading into its eventual conquering of the city-states.

The Faxik tribes are one of the tribes that have not settled permanently, and instead, stayed nomadic. This is a result of the unpredictable climate of the Faxik Desert, and the common outbreaks of isioa (a skin disease). Famine was also a factor in the Faxik's nomadic life. Their primary food source, hunting, was found to be unreliable and very unpredictable.

Faxik's nomadic way of life helped to establish its perception that the Faxik ethnicity was made up of barbaric, and lazy individuals.
