It is common knowledge that even long before the Great Sundering, after establishing dominion thanks to victory over the Primordials, the gods have retreated into their respective areas in the Astral Sea and have since then barely meddled witth he affairs of the mortal realm (although some claim that at least a few gods did interfere during the Sundering and were perhaps even responsible.). In the recent decade, however, it seems that two gods in particular have set their eyes and influence upon the mortal realm once more, for reasons unbeknownst to even their most devoted priests. These gods are two of the major godesses from the panthenon, namely the Raven Queen and Iouen. It is important to note that both godesses are unaligned and as such, one cannot deduce wether their actions are for good or worse when it comes to the consequences for Irin. One theory about this suggests that Iouen is recovering all her knowledge from the world of mortals whilst the Raven Queen brings forth the "Final Fate", the end times.
