Lesa'ah is slow to look away from Raikinu even when Sarasha moves forward and starts swatting at people, but the spread of feathers in her hand is suddenly pulled free as Raikinu herself moves to look. Darting over Lesa'ah's leg with a thoughtless scrabble of claws, the hatchling bounds forward several steps before Lesa'ah makes it to her feet and calls after her. "Raikinu!" she calls, worried that she might be batted back too if she gets too close. The cry makes her Kyrka pause just long enough for her to lunge forward and grab the leading edge of a wing.
Look! Look! What's happening? Raikinu demands, straining forward eagerly. It takes a few tugs of her wing for it to dawn on her that Lesa'ah is holding her back, not asking to be led forward, and she stops tugging, taking a step sideways instead. Her side knocks against Lesa'ah's leg as she fidgets, talons pawing little dents into the ground. She's chirping, a loud, high, repetitive noise that speeds up as the hatchlings burst from their egg and their chosen Serra plunge into the pool after them. There were two! she exclaims, wondering and excited.
Karah sounds so anxious that Lesa'ah lets go of Raikinu's wing and takes a step towards her, but Laylar cuts in, offering better words of comfort than she could have. He has years of experience, while she knows no more than any other villager raised in Iral Kay. She looks curiously down at Raikinu when he announces a hunt. Isn't she too small to hunt on her own yet? Maybe they'll be expected to hunt for their hatchlings--that might be a problem. She'd been apprenticed with wood-crafters specifically because her family didn't think she'd be good at it. Well, for Raikinu she'd have to learn.
Raikinu trills in response to Sarasha's warble, though she's not quite sure what her mother is excited about, and she bounds that way, knocking into her Serra again, though not as hard as before. Come on! We're going somewhere! Lesa'ah, come!
Lesa'ah is braced for it this time, and catches at her wing again. "Just a moment," she says, gently tugging her towards Karah and Lillua. Though the girl has a place now, a Kyrka and a fruitful life ahead of her, last night's conversation has left Lesa'ah with a vague feeling of anxiety about her, a sense that someone needs to be responsible. Besides, she had clearly been distressed by her hatchling's disability, and while Laylar had hopefully soothed her worries, Lesa'ah wants to check. "She's beautiful," she tells Karah, then realizes that might offend her own Kyrka and again focuses very hard at thinking in her direction. But she's not as beautiful as you.
I found you first! Raikinu answers, startling Lesa'ah, and takes the woman's pause as an opportunity to eel in front of her and sit down firmly atop her toes, rump brushing against her calves. She leans forward and trills at Lillua; her eartufts are high and the sound is friendly, but the white notes are gone from her gem, which now gleams entirely with indigo-edged shades of blue. You're mine. She's hers!
Lesa'ah has to lean over her Kyrka to smile at Karah. "You'll just have to be Lillua's eye and ear, right? She wouldn't have come to you if you couldn't handle it. And we'll help, if you need it," she adds, with a solictitious-adult edge creeping into her tone. "Let's go hunt with their mother," she adds. She'd meant to offer Karah a hand, but she's suddenly not sure if Raikinu will permit that. Her hatchling scrambles up, making the warbling sound again as she's reminded of the hunt, and circles her eagerly "I'm sure they're hungry." She turns and heads after Sarasha and the group trailing behind her, glancing back once to see if Karah and her hatchling are coming along. One hand drops to absently smooth the drying, ruffled fur on Raikinu's back. You must be hungry.
I am! Raikinu sounds surprised by the statement, as if she'd just noticed the growling of her belly. Though now that she has a name to put to the feeling, it's strong.
((ETA: Whoops, fixed Karah's name. Sorry about that!))

[Sorry I have been having a bit of a writer's block. I'll make sure to post tomorrow tho! Also it's Karah, not Kalah. xD]
Karah hugged Lillua tightly and listened as Laylar talked to her. As she did she loosened her grip on Lillua a bit, but not entirely. She still couldn't help, but worry about her precious chick. Karah nodded at Laylar. but didn't look completely convinced.
It was then that Lesa'ah called out to her with some encouragement and she said back. "I hope I can do a good job then." Yet she didn't sound very confident about that. "You can do it, but can you please let me go? We need to go hunt, I'm hungry.
Karah then let go and Lilua flapped her wings a bit in excitement. She trilled back at Raikinu about as friendly as he did her and kept close to Karah to show that she wasn't interested in any of the other Serra there. Karah meanwhile was concerned. She had never hunted before, nor had she ever wanted to. What if they ended up hunting one of her friends? Would she be expected to hurt her friend? Karah's ears dropped as both she and Lillua moved behind Sarasha.
