This group has been archived by its founder. It may still be viewed, but can no longer be joined or posted to.

Okay, so the forum rp didn't really work out all that well. Everyone has very busy schedules with college, work, family lives, etc, and people either forgot or weren't in the mood to post. Seeing as it's been almost exactly a year since the RP started and we're still on page 3, I think it's fair to say it's just not going to happen.

So some of us have decided to call off the RP, and make a summary of what happened so we can move on. I'll let everyone describe what happened to their own characters.

As in the forumrp, they were going to the laboratory Celcia described. Nothing important would happen along the way, other than maybe one of the characters having panic attacks or something. When they reached the area, they would find a destroyed city that looks like it had been through the apocalypse. As they explored it, they would find that everything in the area had suffered extreme fire and explosion damage, which gave everyone strong implications that Lute had gone on a drunk rampage through the area. They continued deeper into the city, unable to find the lab that Celcia talked about. She led them to where it should have been. They found out that the lab was actually underground, to survive the onslaught that happened above.

When they went into the secret lab, they were immediately greeted by the Pith's mother's voice, echoing through the lab. She began to explain in great detail why the group was there and started to release significant details about them. It would become incredibly apparent that the mother was psychic, and Celcia explains that the mother could, in fact, read the future.

The mother explains that she is also able to change what happens in the future, and, as such, has taken on the personal responsibility of trying to sculpt the future into what she thought would be best for everybody. This led to her having to make increasingly tough moral decisions, such as having to choose whether or not to kill people or let them live, knowing the consequences for the future.

Eventually, the mother explains that the choices she was making were a lot more constrained than she originally thought, and the more she had read of the future, the more bleak it was. The future had reached a breaking point. The point where people's magical abilities had developed so much that it could be used for massive wars. So it was. The magefoxes declared death on each other. The legendary nine-tailed foxes got involved, but even they were not enough to quell everybody. They were destroyed, and the world was thrown into chaos. The magefoxes will end up collectively destroying the world and obliterating themselves.

And the mother couldn't find any actual way to prevent it. No matter how hard she begged, pleaded, tried to convince people, she found out that the world will still end up killing itself. So she did the only thing she possibly could.

She created the Kelestrian Rabies Virus. The point of the Kelestran Rabies virus was to kill off most of the population. The virus would go away, in time. This would significantly retard magical progress, to the point where they wouldn't destroy themselves. She was clearing the table. Rewinding time. She was resetting the world.

Throughout this gigantic explanation, the group would be travelling throughout the laboratory, trying to find the cure. They would be given challenges by the Mother, that would test their physical, magical, and mental abilities. Some of these challenges would be potentially deadly.

Over time, the group (or at least Celcia) would realize that the challenges they were doing were actually metaphors for what the Mother had to go through. They were dealing with miniaturized versions of what the Mother had to deal with. The Mother was trying to let the group experience being her for a day, so they could possibly sympathize and understand why she did what she did. And then the group was thrown quite a large wrench in their plans.

The Mother explained that the Lute and Kor everybody knew were not quite what they appeared to be. They were fakes, illusions. The group came across two large pods in an empty room. The Mother further explained that they were clones, created from the originals that were still in the lab now.

The pods opened, and two winged magefoxes stepped out - the original Lute and Kor. Lute had wings made of lightning, and Kor had wings made of fire, their original elements. They were instantly hostile, without rational thought, only trained on killing everything in front of them. It was immediately apparent that these originals were infected with the virus a long time ago, and they were too far gone to try to talk them out of killing everyone.

The group had to run the hell away from the Piths before they were all murdered. (Reem, this is the spot I was planning for you) The Mother explained that she was tired of seeing the future. Tired of trying to save everyone. She had stopped planning ahead and fixing problems. Celcia left this one last challenge in, and if the group could figure out how to stop them, they could have the cure.

They would stop Lute and Kor by essentially trapping them in parts of the lab and sealing them off, so they could never escape, their fates left to the confines of their section of the lab. (Asuza would come around later and finish off Lute and Kor.)

The group finally reaches the end of the lab. Celcia's mother appears on a large screen.

"It seems you've accomplished everything I demanded of you. You've listened to my story.. You've dealt with the problems and faced the challenges I had to deal with.. Do you understand? Do you know what it's like to be me, now? You're having to deal with the knowledge that, if you don't succeed, everybody will die. But you still don't know exactly what the situation is like.

So I'm giving you two options. The same choice I was left with. Your first choice--" A light came on and a pedestal began lifting up on the left side of the room. A gray box with the cure to the virus inside was on the pedestal. "Cure the problem. Save the world. Stop everybody from destroying themselves. On this pedestal is the very reason you are here. The cure to the virus I have released. Simply grab the box and smash it open, and the solution will immediately begin spreading into the atmosphere. All the infected has to do is just breathe. Everybody will be cured within a day. The problem will disappear.

However.. There is a significant cost. In order for the cure to activate the failsafe system, ... The host must be killed. The infected people will die. By the time you reach this point, over 90% of the world population is infected with the virus. In order to save the everybody, you must destroy everybody. There will be very few survivors, but know that if you choose this, life on the planet will continue.

You do have a second option--" A light turned on, lighting up the right side of the room, revealing a large door. "You may ignore the cure. Leave this place. never come back. The cure will be lost forever and the world will be left to its own fate. The virus will take over the entire world and people will go insane and everybody will kill eachother. If you decide not to interfere, the world will be sent into a post-apocalyptic state and almost everybody will be killed anyway."

"You must choose between two horrible outcomes. Destroy the world, or let the world destroy itself. Which one will you choose, Celcia? Will you make a better decision than I did? ... You know, throughout my entire life, I have persistantly refused to reveal to myself what option you would end up choosing. I left it undiscovered to myself. I didn't want to know."

Eventually, the group would inevitably decide to release the cure (and if your characters decided not to, Celcia would do it by herself). The cure is released, however, nobody dies immediately. Nobody even shows any slight indication of being harmed in the least. Celcia's mother appears on the screen one last time.

"Hello, .. This message is being given all around the world through various mediums. Recordings, computer screens, televisions, people reading off a piece of paper, and other methods.. By the time this message is played, I have been dead for ten years. I had a special power.. I could see the future. I saw that the world was going to destroy itself. No matter what I tried, no matter how hard I would plead, the world wouldn't listen. Nobody would believe me. So I decided to show how terrible the situation would be. I released a horrible virus. It makes people insane and hostile. It makes people kill themself.

The point of this virus is not to destroy the world. That was never my intent. I only wanted to help everybody. The point of all of this was to show everybody a glimpse of the future. I wanted people to see what I could see. The virus was the only way I could accomplish this. Now you all know what the future brings, just like I have seen it. Everybody has had a taste of global destruction. Maybe I will be portrayed as one of the worst persons of all time.. A terrorist. A criminal. A mass murderer. I don't care.

Maybe, just maybe, in showing people what lies ahead, people might decide to change things. Now that you all know what the future holds, preventive steps just might be taken to stop it. I don't know what the future looks like anymore.. I've stopped looking. I don't predict anymore. I don't want to know what happens. I like not knowing what happens. It's much more peaceful. I look around and finally see hope. I haven't experienced this in years.

I leave everything up to you, now. It's your future again. Not mine. Make it better than it should have been."

So now it's your turn. What's happened to your characters? Did they die? Did they survive? Were they changed in any way? Did they find all of this to be ultimately pointless and continue?

Celcia, now having lived her mother's final choice, has decided to continue working on making the world a better place, as much as she could with her limited scope.";

(I am perfectly okay with Reem dying at the given point.)

Reem would have been fairly useless during the challenges, given that she would have been heavily pregnant and her mind all messed up from the virus. All she could really do is try to not freak out and stay out of the way.

For the same reasons, she wouldn't have been able to escape the attacks. She would have just completely lost it. Easily picking for the blind rage of the attackers.

Reem, and the two kits she was carrying, would have perished.
Rankine would have stuck pretty close to Celcia and Asta the entire time, and protected the hell out of Asta when the piths were released, By the end he would have decided to be a sort of pacifist.
