I loved these as a kid. I was unpacking a box of books and I found the 3x5 card mom gave me of the Betty Crocker Snickerdoodle recipe with her tweaks!
Snickerdoodle Cookies
Ingredients
• 1½ cups sugar
• ½ cup butter, softened
• ½ cup shortening
• 2 eggs
• 2¾ cups All Purpose (Plain) Flour
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• ¼ cup sugar
• 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• Note: Measurements are in U.S. To determine Imperial measurments, divide by 1.201.
Instructions
1. Heat oven to 400°F / 205°C
2. Mix 1½ cups sugar, the butter, shortening and eggs in large bowl.
3. Sift in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and mix until blended.
4. In a small bowl, mix ¼ cup sugar and the cinnamon.
5. Shape dough into 1¼-inch balls. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set. (I usually watch to see when the edge is just starting to turn golden)
7. Remove from cookie sheet and place on to a wire rack, or if you have any brown paper bags, cut them and lay them flat and place finished cookies on them.
