TSUKI, THE LUNAR REGION
This is a most unique region that boasts a rich culture not seen elsewhere in the world. The region blends a unique mixture of history and science together, many of the cities look to be state of the art, everything in many of the towns are fully automated, from the sidewalks to the doors, everything is hands free. However, outside the cities, everything seems so old fashioned, rather than being fancy, automated, and high-tech, the roads are made of cobblestone like they were in ancient times. Large, crumbling towers hundreds of years old dot the landscape, a beautiful temple remains in the center of the region, and a highly varied landscape consisting of mountains, forests, deserts, and a tundra. The climate is just as varied, with much of the south being rather dry, warm, and windy with the north being fairly cold, covered in snow nearly year round. The central parts of the region are a bit crazy, one day, a blizzard could tear through the area, while the next day, it'll be time to go sunbathe.
People are known for being rather odd, but generally kindhearted. Intelligence, wisdom, and respect are highly valued by the majority of the people, believing that holding both a kind heart and a wise head will grant one great success. People and Pokemon live together as friends, many being treated as if they were gifts from the heavens. The cosmos play a huge role in the development of the people, with many citizens dedicating their lives to studying the stars. Pokemon trainers here have a tendency to do what they can to keep their Pokemon safe and happy, treating them with much love. Abusive trainers are looked down upon, believed to be weak and wastes of space (hehe). Those who show great skill and prowess in training their Pokemon are usually held in high regards, being treated like celebrities. The love for the cosmos can be seen in the region's cities, as all settlements are named after a real world natural satellite.
The region is home to a variety of Pokemon, with many Ice-, Rock-, Steel-, and Ghost-types making their homes in the snowy north; Fire-, Ground-, Psychic-, Bug-, and Dark-types making their homes in the deserts to the south. Grass-, Water-, Flying-, and Normal-types can be found on nearly every corner of the region, from the blistering deserts to the frozen tundra. Electric-, Fairy-, Poison-, Fighting-, and Dragon-types are considerably rarer, but they can still be found if you try hard enough. Legendary and Mythical Pokemon are infrequently spotted in many of the towers and forests that decorate the landscape, with many of them treated as guardians of the region. Extraterrestrial Pokemon have played a major role in the development of the region, this is most notable with the Clefairy's Temple.
SETTLEMENTS
Luna: This is the northernmost settlement and is home to a variety of temples and research centers, it is considered to be the best examples of the region's famous clash of the future and the past, with its automated walkways, state of the art buildings, but still being home to temples that have called Luna home for thousands of years. It is also home to the Luna Gym, an Ice-type Gym ran by Nicolaus. Dione: A small city that's dotted in various craters. It is a relatively new city that's just been recently put into development, however frequent meteor showers have made it difficult, though this has actually just drawn more interest in the area for both scientists and corporations that wish to make use of the minerals the meteors bring.
Phobos: A rather odd city that's known for its beautiful landscape, rather than focusing on making sure their city is equipped with the finest technology, though it isn't to shabby when it comes to its tech, it's known for its beautiful pieces of art that decorates every square inch of the city. It is also home to the Phobos Gym, a Flying-type Gym, run by Agnes, she is the elder sister of Andrea.
Oberon: This city is home to numerous research centers dedicated to searching for life beyond their world, while several extraterrestrial Pokemon have been documented, they're in search of Pokemon that have not yet been documented. It is also home to the Metis Gym, a Fighting-type Gym, run by Cecilia.
Phoebe: Despite being near the center of the desert, it's actually fairly cool in comparison to the other cities that dot the desert areas of the region. Its cool temperatures are thanks to the oasis nearby, this also generates much more rain than the other cities see. It is the most populated city in the region and is considered to be one of the most important.
Styx: While this city isn't nearly as warm as its southern, it's even drier, seeing less than ten inches annually, and over half of it is during the region's rainy season. It is home to the Styx Gym, a Fairy-type Gym, run by Maria.
Triton: This city is home to the Pokemon League, a place consisting of plenty of powerful trainers looking to become the next champion of Tsuki. Despite being home to the Pokemon League, the city actually has a very small population of permanent residents.
Miranda: Just across from the Pokemon League is the home of the region's annual StarCon, a convention that draws astronomers from all over to discuss new findings and to recap anything that might've been announced beforehand or some future plans. It attracts hundreds of visitors from all over the world.
Titania: The sister city of of the eastern Titan. It's believed to have been among the first founded in Tsuki, but unlike Rhea, it has welcomed advancements and is among the most advanced in the region. Much of the region's experimental technology is developed here and is usually shipped to Titan for further testing and development. The experimental UFO Ball and Lunar Ball were developed here. The UFO Ball is said to work exceptionally well on Pokemon that did not originate from the Pokemon world while the Lunar Ball works exceptionally well at night. Only a few people have had access to these experimental Pokeballs so far.
Callisto: The entire city was built on a massive meteorite that struck the planet hundreds, perhaps thousands of years before Tsuki was first settled. While technology may not be as impressive as its southern neighbor, it's still widespread and currently, Callisto is considered to be one of the best blends of history and advanced science. Clefairy are often spotted around the outskirts of town.
Nix: Another warm and sunny city located in the northern most part of the deserts. People tend to spend most of their time sailing around the beaches. It is a week long festival that usually occurs during the dry parts of the year when cloudy weather is rare. It draws hundreds of visitors annually.
Io: This rugged city is home to the region's largest volcano, though it is actually dormant at the moment, it is believed that it could blow at any second. In the past, the volcano was a highly active and volatile land form, almost constantly pumping out fresh magma, forming the mountains that surround the land. In addition to the massive volcano, it is also home to three smaller ones that are also dormant. These volcanoes formed what is now known as the Ashen Mountains.
Titan: The sister city of the western Titania. It is used to test the new, experimental technology that is developed in Titania. The city is built upon only the latest technology, making a scientific marvel for tourists. The most recent, big invention to come out of Titan was the Infinite Bag, thanks to technology similar to that found in a Pokeball, it can store hundreds upon hundreds of items while taking up minimal space, being no larger than the standard messenger bag. It's popular among scientists since they can store all of their scientific research without worrying too much about it being ruined.
Ganymede: While the city is sparsely populated, it is the largest by area, being nearly three times as large as the next largest, Titania. It's also the wettest city, receiving over 70 inches of rain annually. Despite the plentiful rain, it is fairly advanced in terms of its technology.
LANDSCAPE
Mew's Forest: An odd wooded area that's said to be as old as the region itself. It has two large towers hidden by even larger trees. According to some old folklore, two Mew, a shiny and a regularly colored Mew roam the area. They will cower around humans unless they can trust them, though they are not known to appear to people without a reason.
Treasure Forest West: One half of the massive Treasure Forest. All kinds of rare gems, stones, and even ancient relics have been found here, it's unknown where they come from, but some believe that they've been placed here by the ancients. Treasure hunters and curious explorers alike come here in search of treasure.
Treasure Forest East: Like its western half, this is also home to numerous valuable treasures, though it's also home to a large population of Ursaring and Teddiursa that seem to guard the forests from those that want to take the treasure. While the treasures here are far more valuable, the dangers of trying to collect them often outweigh the value of the treasures.
Ashen Mountains: This large mountain range is home to a four volcanoes, all seemingly connected together through one massive magma chamber. While the mountains themselves may not look all that impressive, there is a massive network of tunnels that lead far below the ground, just yards from the pools of magma that fuel the volcanoes. Rumors have spread that the legendary Pokemon, Heatran and Groudon make their homes here, though the intense temperatures make research difficult.
Crater Oasis: This ancient creator was formed when a large meteorite slammed into the region, forming a large ring of mountains around it. Eventually, the deepest parts of the crater were filled with rain water despite having been in the center of the desert, this has led to speculation that the oasis was formed by a Pokemon. Centuries went by and a temple was built, protecting an odd, violet stone inside. They say a Pokemon rests inside, but no one has confirmed this. They cannot see into the stone and it seems to be harder than even diamonds.
Forest of Nightmares: According to rumors, whoever enters the forest is said to experience dreadful nightmares for as long as they remain in the woods, they vary by person and have even driven people to harm themselves due to the intensity. It is said the mythical Darkrai roams these woods following a battle with the legendary Cresselia.
Snow Cap Mountains: This massive chain of mountains sprawl across the vast majority of Tsuki's tundra, hiding various towers that rumored to hide legendary Pokemon, however the bitterly cold temperatures, poor visibility, and nearly constant snow falling make it difficult to traverse these mountains, though this hasn't stopped brave or stupid trainers from attempting to travel through these mountains.
LANDMARKS
Clefairy's Temple: This temple was built in ancient times to worship Clefairy and its evolutionary line. They were believed to hold miraculous abilities because they came from the stars. Numerous Clefairy make their homes here, being quite friendly towards visitors with good intentions, though, if someone comes with the intention to bring harm to them, they are known to violently attack said visitor.
Crescent Temple: It is said that the legendary Pokemon, Cresselia appeared to the people in ancient times and cleansed them from the nightmares a Darkrai was causing. After a long battle, the Darkrai retreated to a forest in the north where it remains to this day. Grateful for the help, a temple was built on the Crescent Isle, it now serves as a place for curious trainers to explore in hopes of meeting the legendary Pokemon.
Tower of the Sun: This tower was built by the ancient citizens of Tsuki to worship Volcarona, a Pokemon that appeared after a massive eruption and saved the people from freezing during the bitterly cold winter that followed. It now serves as a popular spot for wild Fire-type Pokemon and various Solrock to take residence in. It's believed the very Volcarona that saved ancient Tsuki still resides in the very top of the tower. It's currently outlawed battle in or around the tower, they wish to prevent damage on the tower.
Tower of the Moon: This tower was built around the same time as the Tower of the Sun, though it was built for different purposes. In Tsuki, the moon has played a significant role in their beliefs and in early times, the people believed the moon was what sent the rain down towards their world and as such, they worshiped it, erecting a tower in honor of it. Cresselia is known to occasionally appear at the top of the tower. Water-types and Lunatone frequently reside here.
Golden Tower: An odd tower that's constructed entirely of gold, from the doors, to the roof, everything seems to be made from one, massive slab of gold. It's unknown when, why, or how it was built. Many believe that it was built to honor Arceus, though no one's confirmed this.
Temple of the Alpha: This is the oldest building in all of Tsuki, believed to have been built soon after the arrival of the first people that would soon call the region home. According to the murals painted around the walls, the mythical Arceus was largely responsible for helping the people find their way around the region and has saved them from numerous disasters. According to local legends, Arceus will appear in the temple once every century and it will travel around the region to see how things have changed. If it pleases the Pokemon, it'll aid in the region's harvest on the year it appears, however if it displeased by what it sees, destruction is sure to follow. Luckily, it's never destroyed any part of the region.
Solar Reserve: A small farm just north of Ganymede. It's used to help care and raise Pokemon that have been displaced by weather, human activities, or are just looking for a place to call home. Eventually, they are put up for adoption and people have the option to pick them up, many of the Pokemon here are often given to young kids as their first Pokemon.
Lunar Reserve: Like the Solar Reserve, it's used to raise Pokemon that have found their way here for a variety of reasons, however this is also used as a farm to supply the majority of Tsuki with food, more specifically various kinds of fruits, vegetables, and grains. These are shipped throughout all of the region.
Distortion Tower: An odd tower that holds a strange stone in the very top. Murals depict the legendary Giratina. It is said that if you create enough energy, you can open up a portal to the Distortion World. Alternatively, bringing a Spooky Plate and a Draco Plate, setting them together in a specific arrangement around the Griseous Orb, Giratina will arrive at the top of the tower, and if a trainer can best it in battle, it'll join the trainer on the remainder of their journey. So far, no one's been successful.
Tower of Ideals: This tower was built to honor the legendary Pokemon, Zekrom. A Dark Stone that is said to hold the Being of Ideals resides here. The stone is constantly under heavy guard and only those who have successfully defeated the Elite 4 and Champion may enter the tower. However, in order to reach the top, the trainer needs to defeat a series of powerful trainers, and even defeating them may not yield you the pleasure of meeting with Zekrom, as its said to be very choosy on who it reveals itself to.
Father's Tower: This tower was built in honor of Regigigas, a Pokemon that was said to have helped lay down the foundation for many of Tsuki's present day cities and was one of the guardians of the region, often defending it was certain natural disasters. The Regigigas now sits in the very center of the lowest floor of the temple, solid as a statue. It's rumored to have been that way for centuries and will awaken if in the presence of Regirock, Registeel, and Regice.
Tower of Frost: Hidden within the Snow Cap Mountains is a tower dedicated to Regice. This Pokemon lives deep within the tower, frozen like a statue. It would often appear alongside Regigigas whenever disasters hit the region and now will only awaken in the presence of Registeel and Regirock. The tower is covered in a thick layer of ice, making travel through the tower difficult and dangerous.
Spatial Tower: An odd tower built out of primarily pink gemstones, it was erected in honor of the legendary Pokemon, Palkia. Due to the region's fascination with the cosmos, worship of the Spatial Pokemon was inevitable. The Lustrous Orb sits at the very top of the tower, and if one brings a Splash Plate and a Draco Plate, Palkia may appear and challenge the trainer to battle. If the trainer comes on top, Palkia will join the trainer for the remainder of their journey, otherwise it'll return from whence it came.
Temporal Tower: Much like the Spatial Tower, this was built in honor of the legendary Pokemon, Dialga. While the region may not have as much of a fascination with time as they do with space, they believe the former is still a key component to life, after if weren't for the time they've spent studying the stars, the advancements they have now may not have ever existed.
Tower of Steel: This tower was dedicated to Registeel, one of the four guardians of Tsuki. It resides in the very center of the lowest floor of the tower, awaiting to either be awoken by the presence of Regirock or when the region falls under another disaster. Unlike the Tower of Frost, it is relatively easy and simple to traverse, however during certain parts of the year, frost builds up and can make it dangerous to travel through the tower.
Tower of Stone: This tower was dedicated to Regirock, one of the four guardians of Tsuki. It resides in the very center of the lowest of the tower. Unlike the others, it doesn't require the presence of the others to awaken, but rather it requires the presence of each of the evolutionary stones or if a disaster hits the region, it'll awaken. The tower is the easiest to traverse thanks to its building material, though like the other towers, the build of frost can potential make it dangerous.
Meteor Tower: This tower was carved out of a massive meteorite that had slammed into the planet millions of years prior to the present day. It now holds a pair of green and violet colored stones that seem to have an extraterrestrial origin to them. They are unguarded, but are almost impossible to move due to an impossibly high mass. It is unknown what they are or where they came from, but its theorized they might be related to the mythical Deoxys.
Tower of Truth: This tower was built to honor the legendary Pokemon, Reshiram. A Light Stone that is said to hold the Being of Truth resides here. However, it is constantly under heavy guard and only those who have successfully defeated the Pokemon League may enter the tower. Though, before they may reach the top, they must defeat a series of powerful trainers before they get the chance to view the stone, unfortunately, Reshiram may not choose to reveal itself to the trainer, as it's very picky on who it reveals itself to.
THE TSUKI POKEMON LEAGUE
Luna City Gym, the Frosty Nicolaus: This odd man runs that runs the gym is known for being cold, but he will open towards those that have earned his respect, though people usually only earn his respect through defeating him in battle, and this isn't very hard to do. His trial simply requires the challenger to skate across a small pond without falling. His team consists of a Snorunt, Swinub, and Sneasel.
Adrastea, the Hardy Andrea: Despite her young age, she is surprisingly mature and a very persistent trainer, refusing to give up, even when her back is against the wall. Her trial is rather odd, she actually requires her challengers to make a simple helmet out of steel, and if they're successful, Andrea will take them on in a battle. Her team consists of Mawile, Beldum, and Pawniard.
Europa, the Insightful Isaac: Arguably the most intelligent of the many gym leaders, he is well known for being one of the premier astronomers in Tsuki. His trial involves you traveling through a stone maze and collecting five star shaped gems while avoiding various trainers who will battle you as you wander. Once you reach Isaac, he will battle you. His team consists of Elgyem, Kadabra, and Meowstic.
Phobos, the Free-Spirited Agnes: This is arguably the most frightening of challenges, especially if you have a fear of heights. Agnes has the challenger skydive through three hoops, and if they're successful, Agnes will battle the challenger. Her team consists of a Pidgeot, Staraptor, and Emolga.
Deimos, the Sweetheart Jocelyn: She is often nicknamed as the Sweetheart of Tsuki. She is a loving, playful trainer that enjoys teasing her opponents, though she never does it to hurt them, rather just to have some fun with them. Her trial consists of a surfing course. She requires the challenger to race around a track, collecting three gold rings along the course and present them to her once they've managed to complete it. Her team consists of Wartortle, Dewott, and Primarina.
Metis, the Feisty Cecilia: A feisty and energetic girl with a love for Pokemon. She is known to say what's on her mind without much regard to what anyone else thinks, not caring whether it hurts anyone else. She doesn't have the patience to wait for a trainer to complete a trial, so she opted not to have one. Her team consists of Lucario, Machamp, and Conkeldurr.
Styx, the Playful Maria: A playful and rather flirty gym leader, Maria loves to play pranks and is known to be very affectionate, even towards complete strangers. Her trial consists of a simple rope swinging course. She requires challengers to swing from one end to where she stands, only then will she accept the challenger's battle. Her team consists of Sylveon, Togekiss, Clefairy, and Clefable.
Nix, the Flirty Edwin: While Maria is known for being very flirty, Edwin is even worse and he won't hesitate to ask someone out, even if they're already in a relationship, though this has led to making him rather unpopular due to his persistent nature. His trial is simple, it requires them to navigate a series of tightropes while avoiding other trainers who will battle the challenger if they get too close to them. His team consists of Beedrill, Butterfree, Mothim, Venomoth, and Scizor.
THE ELITE FOUR AND CHAMPION
The Blazing, Galileo: Considered to be the grandfather of modern astronomy in Tsuki and has made a number of crucial discoveries that has helped the region develop. He is a kindhearted man with a grandfatherly personality. He is known to offer advice towards challengers, whether they win or lose. His team consists of Charizard, Volcarona, Talonflame, Camerupt, and Magmortar.
The Dreadful, William In comparison to Galileo, he's far less kind and much less open to people, there are times he appears outright abusive to his Pokemon. He claims an iron fist is what will get Pokemon to become stronger, and despite much disapproval from people around the region, he's not yet given up his position. His team consists of Honchkrow, Weavile, Houndoom, Spiritomb, and Mandibuzz.
The Spooky, Albert A rather odd individual, some consider him to be insane, others consider to be eccentric, but regardless, he's known for being loud and hyper despite his advanced age. He's been known to give advice right in the middle of battle and he's also been known to pull off some crazy stunts. His team consists of Gengar, Dusknoir, Drifblim, Golurk, and Frosslass.
The Quiet, Neil The last and strongest of the Elite 4, Neil is a very quiet individual who speaks few words, generally just a greeting and whatever orders he gives to his Pokemon. He prefers let his actions speak for him. His team consists of Bisharp, Absol, Shiftry, Sharpedo, and Hydreigon.
The Champion, Stephen The founder of the Tsuki Pokemon league and he is generally considered to be one of the, if not, the strongest trainer in Tsuki's history. He is a highly intelligent man, but unfortunately his mind is trapped in a body that cannot move, being forced to use a mind-controlled wheel chair to move and speak. Despite this, he's seen to have great bonds with his Pokemon. His team consists of Garchomp, Gliscor, Hippowdon, Steelix, Excadrill, and Swampert. Defeating him will grant the trainer access into the Tsuki Hall of Fame, and the honor of being the first trainer to defeat the man in battle.
