The Royal Pokemon Clan

So I couldn't decide between two ideas, but I'm looking to do an RP (or two) in the Kanto region. Possibly even mixing the ideas, if it works out.

Idea 1: Welcome Back to the World of Pokemon! Another nod to the games, where we play as young trainers getting their license (trainer card) and setting out on their first pokemon journey. We'll be tasked with updating the regional pokedex, since notable populations of non-native pokemon have been popping up near the cities and in some of the far-off reaches of Kanto. Might pull in some nods to Johto and Hoenn with pokeathelons and/or contests, if people are into those sorts of thing.

If you want to pick up a pokemon from Prof. Oak, the classic trio are available as well as eevee and pikachu. If you'd rather come in with your own pokemon (gifted by family or a stray or what have you), I only ask that you keep them basic or baby stage. So, no evolutions or legends, please. I promise we'll get there as we go.

Idea 2: Viridian City Blues. Big city living is hard. Gotta make ends meet, keep food on the table... Your characters have been chasing their next dime for as long as they can remember. They grew up alongside shady characters and maybe they became one along the way. Or maybe they haven't. Maybe they're stubbornly honest and refused to take the Rockets' pay. Maybe they come from money and life has always been so perfect for them. They got bored of easy living and struck out on their own. Or at least they say they did... Point is, someone in town is looking for a group of people to take on a very specific kind of job. The details were vague, but you're to meet at a specific place on a specific day and time.

This one's way more flexible on character type and pokemon they may or may not have. Just no legends, pseudo-legends, or ultra beasts, please. We can also do it in a different city, if y'all'd rather.

I really like the first idea, as it is flexible to all possibilities, and opens up opportunities for all kinds of unique scenarios. It depends on what everyone else is up for of course. As for this Rp, I will probably use Eto. I am working on her backstory in her profile, but can she come along with a Mimikyu she picked up while being a runaway?

Oh! If you guys don't want to claim a starter from Prof. Oak, your chars don't have to swing by the lab if you don't want. You'll be missing out on the intro spiel from him, and they'll probably have to get a 'Dex from someone else (or rely on encyclopedic memory), but it won't affect plot too much. So that option is available, too!

I don't see why not. I don't know that any of the main group or the general folk they meet will be anti-homo, but that doesn't mean Olin hasn't had that experience. Maybe he got the shinx prior to coming to Kanto? Or... maybe that's one of the examples of non-native pokemon that have started popping up and that's why she's at the lab? Would you rather she be granted to Olin by Oak or that they originally met elsewhere?

I'm thinking that he goes to Kanto/moves there, and he gets her from Oak. but he'll be cautious around the group due to being bullied in the past

Cool! So what ages do you want your trainers to be? I'm gonna have mine be a bit older than the Pallet Town norm for starting out - 15.

Cool! He won't be alone, then. He feels like he's behind the curve, since kids in Kanto can set out around age 10, but having other new trainers his age will take the sting off it.

Also, I apologize in advance for any confusion: I'll be using my misc. trainers to also answer things as random trainers and such from time to time. Would it be better to answer a bunch of disjointed things in a single post, with line breaks between sections, or make multiple posts one after the other?

Yep! You can still join. If you want to come in with a pokemon of your own, you can (basic stage or lower, please), or you can pick from charmander, squirtle, pikachu, or eevee if you want to grab a Kanto starter. Or! If you want Prof. Oak to give you a different starter, that's cool, too - just run it by me so we can work it into the plot.

well, could Anzai have a pokemon from a different region or just the original 151? ((well, less than that obviously but you know what i mean))
