Planetary Archive Entry:

Planet Name: Calyra
Region: Theta 4
Sector: 2
Inhabitants: Approximately 150,000 native Calyrae
Number of Colonies: No human colonies, although a small embassy for diplomatic relations and recruitment with and from the Calyrae exists.

More Information:

Calyra was, perhaps, in millennia past, an earth-like planet, although there is little resemblance today. It orbits a cool, dying star and as such the planet exists in a permanent twilight.

The atmosphere is thin, but survivable for oxygen breathing species; it is mostly a mix of noble gases, nitrogen and oxygen.

It is slowly dying with its star; estimates place the lifespan at another few million years. Gravity is approximately 7/8s of Earth.

There are a few large continents, separated by larger oceans; the Calyrae are the only known sentient beings on the surface. It is remarkable for the lack of iron in its geologic makeup; it has been suggested this fact may account for the Calyrae divergence in diet during their evolutionary path away from humanity.

For more information about this species, please see the attached article from the exobiology database.

Classified as a neutral planet, SC spacecraft have been known to receive assistance when requested from the Calyrae, although mindfulness of their haemophagic tendencies is advised.

Recruitment of vessel personnel is listed as Class D, Unlikely. Only three Calyrae are recorded to have made the attempt and only one Calyra is currently serving a commission aboard a Station Artemis spacecraft.
