"and by addition to the protection it grants...you mean like the protection level of the runic leather, or something else?"

-regardless, you quickly equip the thing. Readying your rapier, in a defensive stance of your own. This thing was big....but big might just mean a bigger target, and with your rapier....a big target with lots of places to drain from was ideal. Still you could tell the beast was sizing you up, so you do your best to put on a good guard. Readying your legs to dodge if necessary....feeling it best in this case to let it come to you again-
"Slightly above the protection of the Leather. you may find that having a Colour equipped also causes any impacts you engage in to be Colored like it. The best Colours not only defend, but have offensive advantages as well."
"Auras are another new equip."
(*'impacts'. like in comics when two people clash, there tends to be an effect. combo sword-slashes, spinning incredibly fast till you were a blur with an arc about you... all things that had 'color', usually in white or red...*)
*The Rhynus, planting its arms on the ground, throws its body forward in such a way that once it lands just past your current location, it would have its arms still down low where it could possibly swing them about to defend its body*
-Using the prone position of your legs, you launch a stab upwards at the creature as it sails over you. Then as it lands, you take the moment it needs to swing its arms around to act. Leaping quickly off to the side and bringing your weapon in for another jab at around it's shoulder. Moving quickly since you knew this opening wouldn't be there for long-
*it did not expect you to be so nimble as to go right under it, and leap up for its shoulder. the stabs do well to injure it, the amount of time you have to drain filling half a card, taking 1/8 its health vital* *after that, its arm has swung around to fend you off* *seems like its got the main difference in swinging its arms wide as opposed to directly trying to strike with their whole arm behind the blow. harder to get near without the risk of getting knocked aside*
-You needed to be nimble when your usual enemy set liked to attack in hordes. Back stepping you barely get out of the way of the swing...then getting an idea. You jam the vampiric rapier into the arm as hard as you can, Leaving it in there. With it jammed in, you move back again and draw your new weapon, looking to distract it more from the other side-
*the weapon fills the rest of the way, and the Rhynus is distracted a moment trying to remove the pot-sticker from its arm*
*your new weapon resembles a short stave with an orb crowing the top of it, but 3 lines of golden light all meet eachother just a few inches from the orb, curving around it and forming a solid spear point at the end. real fancy spear...*
-While the beast is distracted, you charge in with your new weapon and drive it hard into the creatures neck. Driving it deep and slicing in an ark to cut open as much of the flesh of it's throat as you could manage-
*the piercing weapon is not all that good at cutting across, the weapon pulling partially out and scraping across as you pull it in an ark*
*its certainly effective in the main plunge though. such a deep attack at a weakpoint has done massive damage, leaving it at 1/4 Health Vital*
*it lets out a shrieking moan, and tries to grab you*
-Swinging back your speak, you drive it hard into the hand reaching for you. Putting all of your decently muscled mass into the thrust to try and finish this up-
*Rhynus Down!*
"next up, Lich. they tend to be the ones closest to the Players themselves in a wide number of respects."
"things seem to be gaining their proper balance, so you need not continue if you don't want."
*You would stand and stretch, righting yourself*
"yeah just give me a minute for a breather first. Say think I could keep the spear for helping you out here if we continue? Seems like it might be useful to my hunting, and a decent reward for these trial runs"
"Av does not usually let anything, including memory, be taken with when one leaves here. You would need to speak with him if you wanted to keep anything."
"who? Well whoever, think you can get him in to talk then?"
"He'll be here a moment ago"

*the flat guy seems to already be behind you* you wished to request something?
"I'm doing a job here, and I'd like to take payment home in the form of this spear"

"However, I've been told you don't tend to like things like memory and the like leaving....so here's what I propose. Can you bring the spear into the world and arrange for me to run into it to acquire it? Even if I don't strictly remember it, I'm sure I can figure it out again. I collect rare and powerful artifacts, so if need be...I'm willing to do some sort of trade to make this happen"
*war speaks up* "ah, if it's a tool you wish to find, I can certainly give it a place of importance. That can work well."
*Av, seeing that he was not needed for a solution, bows out and leaves*
"sounds like a deal then, I get a fancy spear...potentially...and I keep testing these monsters for you"
*nods, a lich spawning* *its almost perfectly humanoid in terms of size and shape, though its a bit on the thin side*
*in a moment, it'll start moving about to fight you*
*considering it looked like one of the smaller and more agile type, you stick with the spear for it's length of reach. Backing up a bit and dropping back into a guard stance till you could better read it's movements*
*unlike the last monster you fought using this spear, the entire spear lights up with a glow, the end primed with energies that are practically leaping from the tip* *the Lich stands ready, defenses up, waiting to dodge around till an opening is sighted*
