Hi. Questions:
•How much, (or little) adult/violent/language/content is allowed in the IC areas? I suggest that any such answer be posted on the Rules page.
•Since the RP takes place over multiple centuries, how do we sort it out? DS9 vs. Ent, and so on.
•Are we limited to the normal Trek universe or can we also explore the Kelvin universe--the one in the last 3 movies?
•Are TinyPlots allowed within missions for character development?
•Finally, how do we avoid "abstract" storylines, in which ppl just /decide/ at random what happens on a whim? Maybe a Dominion ship is destroyed, but maybe the battle was a bit too easy--who decides?
Well, it is great to meet you, and I will try to attract more members; I think I know at least one other person who might be interested.

Answers to your questions.
1. On language, violence, content I will add this to rules page. I will allow a little but nothing strong crude language. Keep at minimum please. Keep it Star Trek friendly like in tv shows or movies.
2. Well my plan is subdivide the forum into roleplay eras such Archer Era of 22nd, TOS Era, and 24th Century which contains TNG, DS9, and VOY series take place in. Even so yes even a Kelvin verse area and even so Mirror Universe which have the Terran Empire and the Klingon Cardassian Alliance. Which I have a few factions to add my list on here. I thought if subdivided into areas of eras people could play in which eras they like. It's a few thoughts on my mind right now.
3. Exploration we can cover all including Kelvinverse and Mirror Universe.
4. Plots and even so subplots are helpful to give insight into character. I am thinking up setting a new thread called Starlogs where characters can give insights into their daily lives to go along with their happening which ever thread. Or maybe best within a IC thread. Not sure what is best.
5. To avoid abstract story lines like battles and stuff. I think there is a dice roll feature on this site that can be useful. So if someones roll is hire than the other it sticks I think. If say I shoot and the other rolls the dice higher they block or deflected that shot through shields or whatever. That's the tricky part because I don't like godmodding when people over use it to benefit over others to think they are king of the mountain.

Greetings, salutations, all that. I'm the friend BlindPianoGeek mentioned, and I'd like to give my own thoughts on these issues.
1. I'd point out that Star Trek movies have a lot of cursing, particularly the later ones. and an early episode of TNG had Picard saying "merde". Granted, I'm not personally too worried about it, personally, but I thought it might be food for thought.
2. I don't really have a huge opinion on the various time-lines and whatnot save to say that I'm not interested in anything but DS9 or a "vaguely post-DS9" kind of setting, so.
3. Same as 2.
4. While seeing characters' logs is nice, you didn't really answer the question about plots. I think what BlindPianoGeek meant was, like, if we could run plots. For example, and this is legitimately just a random pull from the heinie-bumper: Maybe something like a Negative Space Wedgie pops into existence, run by one player for another player(s). Or maybe some part of the ship fizzles unexpectedly, as the beginning of another thing run by one player for another.
5. I'd ask if dice-usage has to be mandatory. I really don't think randomness has any place in a legitimate, serious story. I've found it very difficult to really have any form of objective "system" offer very much veracity, and the idea of not even seeing if players can be trusted without them seems a bit--hmm. I don't know, but it doesn't strike me as engendering an atmosphere of trust and working together. Plus, such things were never really a part of Stark Trek anyway, NuTrek not counted of course. It was never about what you use dice for; to see if person A does thing B, or whatever. It was always about the underlying story. If dice control things, then the story doesn't really have a chance to go anywhere, I think. That said, I dunno. I"d at least hope dice and whatever aren't necessary, and that players wouldn't be looked down-upon for choosing to eschew it.

Thanks for the clarification. I like the subdivision of eras in STW, and appreciate adding the content stuff to the rules. I don't know how I feel about dice yet, but I expect I might use them only if players can't agree on a plot scenario. Personally, I think it would be cool to set up an offericers' log, but as Thylonicus pointed out, I'm not sure how we'd keep it from being too abstract. A final question: how do we set up attributes/skills and acquire stuff here?

I don't mind cursing since was in the Star Trek movies. As to number 4 well I hope to that of that in storylines as that opens the door going to new planets and discovering new alien species. To dice its not mandatory nor did I mention in the rules anywhere that it was as I am still iffy on that.

I will have to think on attributes/skills and acquire stuff here. I could do ships perhaps since I do have some Trek clipart of ships that I found online. I do play a game called Star Trek Timelines which has traits listed with characters they can acquire in game which I can draw inspiration from.
What I would do, regarding things like stats and acquisitions, is perhaps just let it happen in the story. If everyone thinks it fits, then go for it.
And BlindPianoGeek, one option if you want to craft something like a "character sheet" for your character, you can do so by adding certain "widgets" in the character's profile. Click the "Edit Character Name's Profile" button if editng a character you already made, and on the lower right-side there's a pull-out-menu-thinger. It might be easier to get Miss S. to help with these three images for where the widgets are and what they do, since it's--not exactly an involved thing, but more just sort of awkward to describe and, I'd imaginn, difficult to make sense of through your reader.
But you can sort of set up a "pseudo-sheet" and can edit it as you go along.

I am in the let it happen category. If it fits, then go for it.
I am assembling a list of just general technologies that appear in Star Trek. The tech list right now is listed in the creation forms areas. It may become library of info for things and perhaps just keep the planet form for new planets. Oh do I have some info on various type planets as I have a chart graphic such as Class M and so forth. It's going to take time but I will get there.
Take your time. Building a framework is sometimes tedious as you balance structure versus freedom, but worth it. I say that not because I think you don't know it, but so you know I do know it. As I offered in the Tech thread, feel free to use any images I have if they'd be easier for you.
Added more stuff. From ship reference charts, maps, and including a tab I replaced on the main tool bar with Star Trek resources that has links to websites to help fellow role players. Anyways I am gathering up more stuff to add. Feel free to start role playing anytime as well.
Anyone can add stuff to any threads I created.

Part of what I'm unclear on is how much autonomy we have to get a story going. I mean, do you want to "Assign posts" or the like, or can the first person to start a thread just make one, or...? With Li, I'd originally designed her for private stories, since I've never done group role-play here. She has a ship and crew baked in, but I don't know how much of that could be used here.
