Were-Creatures (n) - a half human, half animal hybrid who can shift into an anthropromorphic state of the animal they are.

Were-creatures are humans fused with mammal DNA most of the time. They tend to shift whenever they feel like it but it happens easier when enraged or in sorrow. Were-creatures do not require a “full moon” or any other nature dependents.
The shifting is a very painful process that rips their skin off to show the fur underneath. The were-creatures walk on their hind-legs but can run on all fours for long distances.
Half-Were-Creatures are the children of humans and full were-creatures. They cannot turn into the full form but gain the tail, ears, teeth, and claws along with the physical stamina and half strength.
The royalty/governing officials of the were-creatures are divided up into families.
Were-Creatures that have been recorded to exist:
Kanines (wolves, coyotes, wild dogs, foxes, and bears)
Felines (lions, tigers, wild cats, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, and panthers)

Each family of royal were-creatures has a set of “family jewels” that consist of a crown for the ruling family member, 2 necklaces worn by the ruling member and the next heir, and enough bracelets and rings for each member to have one of each(limit 10). All the pieces are blessed by a magic user and given as gifts from the time where the were-creatures protected witches and wizards throughout the ages. Each family has a specific colour to their name:
Were-canines- crimson
Were-felines- sapphire
Were-primates- emerald
All were-creatures have a naturally occurring fur pattern in their animal form though their actual hair colour in human form could be completely different.
There are a set of apocalyptic were-creatures that are supposed to be immediately put to death if they occur within a royal family. These creatures are said to be cannibals- eating their own kind to survive- and threaten to bring the extinction of that species of were-creatures. The specific were-creatures are:
Canines- the platinum wolf
Felines- the albino lion
Primates- the white gorilla
