Over time I've found myself getting skeptical of really simple tutorials - on the one hand you should make use of any shortcuts that lighten your workload, on the other a lot of these how-tos are the artist's own shorthand derived from hundreds of hours of study. Can't knock anything till I try it though, so I investigated:
It's honestly pretty decent method for ten minutes' work. I wouldn't stake a really detailed piece on it, but this definitely would be sort of thing for background characters in a picture so you don't dropping 45 minutes of anatomy work on an extra.
