Donovan was surprised the tone of Eida’s voice. He regretted proffering the idea, as what had been intended to offer hope seemed to do the opposite. Obviously there was far more to the situation than he was aware of. He was saddened for the sage that so long a service had been rejected, but did not pity the man, for he was sure he would thrive wherever he decided to go. He hoped it would be to stay with the princess.
As you say. I did not mean to offend, you know her best.

Callista was about to agree with Donovan’s description of their role when he brought Awilix's absence up. She could see Eida struggling with his words as he gave an explanation but she knew how hard it was for him that the woman he had served for years abandoned him. ”Awilix will return to us in her own time, I have faith in that.Hand me one of those purple cakes, they are my favorite,” she said gently touching the sorcerer's arm as if she was just trying to get his attention, smiling softly as she did. There wasn't much more she could do in present company that she thought he would appreciate. ”Where is Mercy today Donovan? I had expected her to come and want to help serve the tea. I suppose I should have been more specific in my invitation to invite her.” Callista said, changing the subject away from the topic.
There seemed to be a shift in the conversation and mood when someone brought up another warlord. A female of the strange man's tribe and by his reaction possibly a wayward lover. Cion tried to imagine what a woman from his people would be like, wild and tattooed. Did they run around top less too?
”All this talk of duty and destiny. Sure, glory is great and it certainly doesn't hurt when you are trying to win over a lass right,” he winked. ”I am told if I wish to stay I must help your Khal in his endeavor and I have mind to do this but I will not suppress people wantonly. There is no honor in killing innocents.”

Please, you will have to forgive my sister’s absence. The invitation was clear, however she refused to attend. Since our calling, she has been very morose. She was beating up herself for some time for not being a greater contribution to the battle; for not being at my side. More so, while many view us as anathema, she views us as gods returned. I have had many a long talk with her, assured her that no one questions her valor on the field. But the matter of our choosing…
I had to discipline her when she refused to take up arms against me in the training field. I imagine she feels similar to you.
It was her deepest hearts desire to be a personal guard for you. And now she sees you as a literal goddess, and refuses to enter into your presence until she has mastered what you have already taught her and is “worthy” to be before you. You can only imagine how this is compounded when it is a meeting of all of us. She is stubborn, and while this has served her well many times, now it is my greatest challenge I have had with her.

Eida appreciated the small comfort, but more than that, the distraction to another point in the conversation. As he reached for the plate of dainty cakes, a pulse of energy passed from him to the Princess as Jaeda surged across the gap.
The shadowy miniature serpent pushed it's way though the ring and wrapped itself around Callista's arm like a bangle with a mind of it's own. "So you wait for the changeling, bemoan the absence of a sycophant, but fail to invite me?" Jaeda make a small clucking noise. "That hardly seems fair."
Eida's glare at the creature was unguarded as he realized the manipulation it had performed. Twisting his magic to channel itself was brilliant, but the drain it had taken on him to create the bridge had been massive, now that he realized where the buzzing in his head had come from. With his new abilities, it was easily managed, but before, it was unbearable.

Cion had gotten kind of lost in the conversation about a person he wasn’t familiar with but was shocked to see a small green serpent appear right on the princess. The warrior nearly jumped out of his seat regretting leaving his swords in his room where he couldn’t call them properly. His actions were those of true concern and not just that as a valiant knight showing off for a lady but he barely got halfway up when he was stopped by the gently smile on the woman’s face. She was looking at the strange creature fondly as if was some sort of lap dog or small child.
Callista made a mental note to take the time to meet with Mercy in private to see if she would have any success in getting through to the girl.
”Hello there Jaeda, it is nice of you to join us,” she smiled down at the emerald coil around her wrist. ”I apologize for the oversight, had I known you were interested in tea and cakes, as well as talk of our Exaltation I would have made sure to extend the invite to you as well. Would you like to sit with me or are you happy there?” Callista was unsure if the was once again just an illusion so she resisted the urge to attempt to scratch him under the chin, which she would have tried would she have not been a little embarrassed if he was intangible.

"As much as I would love tea and cakes, someone only granted me certain faculties in this form, touch and taste not being among them. The miniature Jaeda crawled up Callista's arm its shadowy form leaving a trail of cool air as it collected itself. The viper draped itself across her neck like a shawl, eyeing it's other half with a devious smile as its tail swung slowly about. "Thank you for the invitation though. Please, enjoy them in my stead."
Cion stared at the Wyld creature as it settled on the Princess. Those kinds of things always set him on edge but everyone else seemed to be comfortable with it as if it was just another guest at the table. "I suppose I should have brought my horse. He loves cake,” he said almost absentmindedly as he watched Callista giggle at the serpent’s response.
"Which, the one that bit the stablehand and locked him in the pen? I suppose lacking sweets would make a creature that size...cranky. I am Jaeda, you are Cion. Welcome, I suppose, though that is what this little party is for. Please, relax. I have no intention of eating this woman." Jaeda snaked across Callista's throat, small barbed tongues tickling behind her ear. "The world would be worse off without her radiant personality." The serpent stared at Cion, wondering what it needed to expect from him.
Eida shuffled his hands as his bonded soul purposely prodded the newcomer. Just because he did not care for Cion's cavalier demeanor did not give Jaeda full reign to make him uncomfortable too.

”He did not.. Well he probably did bite the stable hand but he was likely brushing too hard or something,” he relaxed, still looking on the creature with a wary eye. ”Nice to meet you,” he said slowly before glancing at the princess. ”Is this a pet of yours? Or some other strange trick?”
”No, he is a friend,” she smiled although she didn’t really appreciate the tickling of her ear. ”Your talents would be most welcome in our upcoming tasks, and to answer your previous question I assure you that the Khal does not conquer for the sake of violence. His war is just a means to an end that will unite the broken lands here. I am sure he will be able to provide compensation for your assistance, on top of allowing you to stay and learn with us.”
”Well it is hard to deny such a beautiful woman’s request. Tell me, is it in your tradition here to wear colors into battle?” He quirked a playful smile across the table at her.

"Some trick?" Jaeda feigned insult as it settled on her shoulder. "I'm not sure which barb hurt worse, though I'm sure your mount would retort with 'his spur.' I am quite real, well, real enough.
Eida stood up and made to leave. Between her invitation to Donovan earlier and the new man's advances, he felt out of place. "Jaeda, inform me of anything that is necessary." He turned to the others and dropped his eyes as he headed towards the door. "I apologize, I have an engagement that needs finalizing."

Rebekah cleared her throat trying to empty the room of some of the tension as the sorcerer made his way out. "So, Cion, on a more personal level, I noticed you came in with Red Jade. Personally, my tool is of Moonsilver and Chiaroscuro Glass. How do they handle? Do you prefer using one or both at the same time? Noone else here has something for me to compare with."
Callista's brow furrowed when Eida suddenly stood to leave. Was Jaeda’s manifestation upsetting or was he still bothered by the subject of Awilix’s absence? She worried that she had perhaps said something wrong which made her even more sad. It was difficult not to attempt to follow, knowing that it would be rude to leave her other guests. ”I am sorry to see you leave, Eida but I do not want to keep you from more important matters,” she said, sincere when she said he would be missed.
After a moment she reluctantly returned her attention to the table where Cion was still talking exuberantly to Ruby. It was hard to understand how he got so much energy but there was definitely something about him that told her he would fit right in.

Cion wasn't sure what exchange was going on across the table but it seemed like more was going on than met the eye. Unfortunately he had no idea what that was so he focused on answering the lovely redhead next to him. ”My swords? They are a family heirloom that go back many centuries as far as I know and I have only heard them called Corona Brands. I have never paid much attention to them material wise aside from the obvious. They are meant to be weirded as a pair, they help balance your body as well as provide you with a means to parry as well as strike with either hand. It you would like a demonstration sometime I would gladly give you one.”
It wasn't exactly what she was hoping for, but a demonstration was a close second to an examination, Ruby practically jumped in her seat. "That would be absolutely amazing! Corona Brands, huh? Do you know how they came into your family's possession?" She slid her chair to one side so that she could actually look at him while they spoke.
Donovan shot a concerned glance at Callista. Was Eida ok? What other engagement could the masterless sage have? Although Callista was comfortable with the snake, it was no charmer. Perhaps it had said something that offended its master?
Donovan turned a warm smile to the conversation at hand, and warmly added.
A demonstration? well, if you need a dueling partner, I would be willing.

”No, my family’s history goes back… a ways. I would be honored to spar with you as a demonstration, Donovan am I correct? Just be sure to not bring your best weapon, my blades have a tendency to be rather hard on normal steel.”
