he land of Avaloe was a sight to behold, green rolling fields as far as the eye
could behold, flowers everywhere broken up only by the occasional stone cottage
and right at the heart, a high tower that held the Mage of that land. His word and
his power kept their land safe, a barrier he had erected around it was what stood
between the innocent people and the monsters outside. For centuries peace was
kept within that bubble, generations of peaceful settlers building their homes
among the thriving plant life, living as one with the land. But it only takes one.
One jealous and selfish human to break the bond between nature and mortals.
his person was one of the Mage's apprentices, one that wanted to turn the land
over to himself and mine it for the gold and jewels beneath the earth. Once his
plot was heard the Mage banished him from the tower and from Avaloe altogether.
But not fast enough as that apprentice had started a plague to kill all plant life from
within. The Mage quickly dispersed the magic but the plants that had mutated had
already done their damage.
he mutation itself was slight but the spores it created had devastating affects.
Choking and gasping was the chorus that rang out in those days, adults were killed
off by the vengeful fog of spores. But then it came upon a nursery housing the
village's newborns. Mother nature intervening and allowing these children to live,
but with one condition. Each child inhaled a spore and that spore lodged within the
heart of the baby, growing around it, constricting and weakening it but also sharing
it's strength. These 'flower children' were soon rescued by the Mage that was also
spared since he had always been one with nature. He took them to his tower and
swore that he would raise them properly to protect and to serve.
nder the tutelage of the Mage the children flourished, they learned to compensate
for their weakened hearts and grew up strengthened by their powers. They found
that they had an affinity for earth based magic, although all were encouraged by the
Mage to learn about it only some truly mastered it. Though all of them learned the
way of battle whether it be by sword or lance, determined to not fall prey to the
world once they left the safety of the tower. Their evenings then spent in study on
the codes of chivalry to ensure their way was true.
ow of age, they are united under one banner but each knight holds his own
heraldry of the family he lost and the flower he gained. All of them with one goal
in mind and that is to help those of the world in any way they can.
