Night had fallen in the city of Ataro yet it did not sleep, indeed not much changed inside the metropolis. The sun went down and out rose a neon one to replace it, providing no escape from the light. Not even the rain which rolled in from the sea, first covering the harbor, then the rest of the city in a shimmering azure blanket.
The downpour did little to affect the dense concrete jungle, trains continued flashing along the monorails, cars still jammed the streets and people still swarmed almost every inch of ground. Now adding another ceiling between them and the sky, umbrellas made of plastic and waterproof materials. Billboards continued to yell their wares from the side of skyscrapers.
(I'm doing my own pixel art version however while you wait I got one which is basically it)
In the entertainment district there stood one of many robotic enchament shops, lovingly nicknamed mod shops by those that partook in such operations. This was one of the more legal of the operations, providing better choices for modders, for those that can pay of course.
It was business as usual for the shop, modders came in, displayed their citizenship pass and after a quick choice and an even quicker exchange of creds. Then the surgery began. Yet for all the normalcy something quite unusual was going on, this was to the meeting place of a team of agents sent in by the major corporations for an almost unheard of joint operation.
All it would need would be just a subtle flash of an issued red card and they would be taken to a prepped meeting room, furnished with a well-made glass table, finely built chairs and an in-room bar. All of which was well lit by light strips which blended in perfectly with the roof. This was a room built to impress.
All ready and guarded by several heavily armed agents, wearing silver exosuits and carrying submachineguns nonchalantly in their arms. All of them were modders and all fiercely loyal to Silver Industries, the corp which owned the shop.
(For your introduction paragraphs, I would prefer you all to start somewhat outside of the local area, up to whatever tasks your character would be doing and then the journey. This is one of the few times where I will ask for a big post. Just to do a bit of atmosphere setting for the city and a nice intro to how your character fits in.)

Anyone just outside the room and still in the mod shop would find one of two things happening to them, either they would be bundled out or pushed into the room, only if they held the right card.
The act itself wasn't unusual, the mod shop was owned by a corp after all. Meaning that at any time, any second the place could be temporarily closed to allow for corp management to get the best treatments in peace and luxury. It was one such event that was happening now, although not by any coincidence.
Inside the room a panel would slide open in the center of the table and a six faced screen would gracefully glide upwards. No matter where any of the agents we're standing or seated they would be able to see one of the six screens.
Without warning they flashed into life, projecting the image of a human figure wearing a suit, a mask and a distinctive blue tie. Apart from that however, everything about them was hidden.
"Greetings agents," the voice tickled in from all corners of the room, gently pouring out of the surround sound systems. "I am azure, head of intelligence. Your mission is a simple one, protect the president from all harm and ensure that this 'shadow state' is destroyed. We appreciate the effort being made here, your team will make an excellent addition to our already scouring the city. Do your duty to your country."
The image flashed off, gone, just as quickly as it had appeared.

The screens flared into life once more, the human shape returning once again to the glowing screens. Yet there was something different, for the observant, they would notice a subtly different body structure hidden away in the shadows.
"Thank you for your patience everyone, it is welcomed. For more clarification on this mission, your teams assignments will be relayed through to you via our representative in this team: Vox. This person is to be your team leader, they have the final say on any team decision. The second in command is Ceci, as the full representative of Silver."
"We will be watching your progress."
The final words lingered in the air as the hexagonal group of screens slid down into the table once again.

A portion of the table once again split in two and a small tray rose out. Bathing the small objects arranged neatly on it's surface in the warm artificial light which flooded the room.
The items in question were a group of seven lenses. Each designed so that from the front they appeared to be a simple eye mod. Yet a glance from behind revealed that they had a tiny almost invisible recording device. A name plate sat beside each one, indicating the person each one was intended for.

For the first time since the beginning of the conversation, the modders at the door stirred, seemingly awakening from a deep slumber. One starred straight ahead, eyes fixing on a point that didn't exist. The other, cast a watchful gaze around the room.
Seconds later they snapped to attention, followed quickly by the doors whizzing open, allowing access to four more similar looking modders.
"Yo!"
The greeting came from the last one to enter the room, flexing robotic limbs as she did so. Movements were awkward and clunky, like someone using a limb for the first time.
"You guys better get going, it's a short journey I know, but we can't leave those bastards from Shadow State waiting. Its bad manners ya know."
