The strange compliment didn't waver Kit's smile, although there was a brief spark of confusion in his eyes. Nevertheless, he responded with a "Thank you," and a nod. It seemed his suspicions about the stranger were correct, wandering about like he was, it was no wonder he was new to Red Creek. Being an avid traveler himself, Kit knew how to spot the lost if only as a byproduct of learning how to not look like one himself.

"How fun!" he commented. "I don't live here myself, but I've visited often enough to assure you that Red Creek is a wonderful place. It's very... unique, yes, that would be accurate. A lovely little slice of suburbia." He stopped himself, realizing he was beginning to ramble. "Oh, but excuse my manners. You can call me Kit." Upon introducing himself, he stuck his hand out to shake.

((First things first, sorry it took me so long to respond. I never really had the time.))

Taking the hand, Mason smiled with a hint of confusion. “Mason” he said.

After a brief pause, he continued. “Well Kit, you mind showing me around the place? Just the key locations. It’d help me out a lot. Because, as of right now, all I really know how to find is this sandwich shop. And my house, that is.”
((It's fine! Life comes before rp lol))

After the shake, Kit stuck his thumbs under the straps of the heavy pack on his shoulders, hiking it up a little as he looked around the street, deciding which direction best suited his fancy.

"Well Mason, the town square would be a nice reference point to know," he responded with a nod. Sure, Mason had been giving a bit of an uncertain, funny look since they met, but a little bit of awkwardness wasn't going to stop Kit from making a new acquaintance. "It's just down this street here, near the middle of town." He gestured down a nearby street and turned towards its direction.
Putting his hands in the pockets of his jacket, Mason followed Kit down the street to the town square. “Okay Mason…” he thought to himself. “This is your first real acquaintance in this town. Best make a good first impression.”

“So…” Mason said awkwardly. “What kind of a name is Kit, exactly?”

Immediately regretting this comment, Mason groaned inwardly. For the first time it dawned on him that he wasn't really all that good at meeting new people.
