I MADE A MAP TO ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS. (Additional information on markers is located in my side characters profile.)
Ahhh!! This is lovely, well done! I am all about map refs like this, it reminds me of playing D&D! (I haven't played in a long time though, but this certainly scratches that itch)
*Makes little grabby hands at it, wanting to make it prettier ;v; *
Speaking of D&D, do you play, iltheyn?
If you want to clean it up you're free to xD. When I was drawing the outlines I was drunk so its pretty messy. Also I haven't actually played D&D at all, though on several occasions I've come very close to doing so. I've played other rpg games ofc.
I really really want to play D&D some day. There's a local group near my house we're looking into joining but we haven't reached out yet.

Yayy, thanks! :> I have been trying to get back into the habit of drawing and designing, so I would love to touch this up and be all artsy, and it would actually have a use! xD
You should totally reach out and give it a try! I bet you'd enjoy it a ton.

I love DnD, oh my god do I love it. I'm a player of lamentations of the flame princess with my local group.
I thought sneaking that reference to Maren in there would be fun, it rather impacted Iskra's character.
Though Maren probably would not like it, she only keeps one unicorn horn item, the dagger presented as a "wedding ring" of sorts, to Iskra by her late husband, had a hilt carved from the horn of one. She keeps it as a trophy, and from time to time polishes the blade very, very carefully.
THAT MAP HAD ME SHOOK THOUGH. It's so cute!l

Aww! I would love to see them interact once more together, we'll have to wait and see.
Maren would probably be very saddened to know Iskra owned a unicorn horn dagger, but would probably forgive her.
(It's like the equivalent of owning someone's cut out heart/essence though, so if she saw it it would likely be upsetting/disturbing to her...probably best not tell her! xD )

Also I am like half-way done with touching up the map ilthyen made, thanks again for allowing me to pretty-fy it!
Ok but if that's the case Amaury's gotta have some sort of cameo.
Or I can get to work on that other thread already xD
tbh though I've been pretty drained all week. I think its the SAD stuff, since NJ's finally starting to really cool down. Not sure when I'll have the initiative for an OP. I'm sure inspiration will hit me at some point.

DnD has me cursed... I soooo wanna play this game I have never ever played before
At first, a person who is very switched on into the game explained to me more or less what it is about and decided to create a group to get us all started.
I build up a character, the stats sheet rolling dice and everything ready to go but within 2 days other players quit, including the owner who in the end deleted the group altogether.
Now I decided to create my own DnD group and put DnD aware players into it, so I can finally have a chance but nobody seems to join except for 1 player
As I live isolated up the northen mountains I don't have a physical group down the put to play DnD with so I can do is read up stuff about it and sit and wait.

Sometimes with stuff like that people like decisions on stuff like editions to be made already, more out of pickiness/laziness than anything else. I don't know about D&D specifically, I just know that people are more likely to join stuff if there's a balance of rules. It is hard to explain.
Assuming I don't get swept away by potential work/health stuff I'd be willing to join. I just have reading to do, like you've done already.

Here's the map all touched up! It was super fun to do, I hope the edits I made were okay, iltheyn. (Like adding a town square, ect)

Oh wow. I don't know about the original map I made but your edits make the place look fantastic and adorable. And the town square is fine, I should probably have added it in the first place.
It makes the place feel more alive, I think. There's something really nice about one's creation being validated by another's additions to it.

Let me know if I should do anymore edits to it. (I made it with a mixture of photoshop and illustrator so its easy to change!) I also just realized I forgot to add the donkey image to one of the pastures, and I wonder where the barracks/jail would be too.
I'm glad you like it, thank you for allowing me to do this!

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth. I was trying to make things better before but they got worse instead. I think the worst has passed at this point though, so I may be able to fit in some posts in the next few days.
Before all that happened I was meaning to tell you that I actually forgot to designate a barracks. So inebriated was I that I focused too much on the tavern and manor. I suppose if I were to go back and put it in I'd place it south of the manor, not too close to it but still near the center of town. Maybe near the town square?

welcome back iltheyn... glad to have you here!

I think the map's pretty much perfect now, Beetlebelle. Fantastic!
This information is related to the Rainy Night successor and not relevant to people only concerned about Reclamation of Aftbide.
I think I might finally have a bit of an idea for Rainy Night... we'll see.
A few questions will need to be answered though. Time to brainstorm. So the questions are:
I decided to set an initial member population to approx. 400. (100 Condottieri-style lances, including archers.) This number is negotiable and it is possible that the full strength of the company is not present in town.
A few questions will need to be answered though. Time to brainstorm. So the questions are:
-
Burning Boar Guild or Shatterwell Company?
Why are they in town? Are they on contract or between jobs?
If they're on a job, who are they working for?

She said this earlier in the thread, and from my albeit limited learning of illustrator I believe her. Adobe stuff can be pretty expensive (I only have photoshop CC til I become a student, personally). I am envious of the perfect lines. Technically you can do them in photoshop too with some tricks but x_x vectors are tedious.
Sorry I've been quiet! This is my last 'official' quarter at college, so I've been busy. x~x
I use a blend of Adobe Photoshop and illustrator.
And like itheyn said, it can be pretty expensive. They switched their payment model to a monthly or yearly payment system, rather than buying/owning it once. And my student discount expired last month, ugh... But I really like their programs so I'm at this period where I gotta decide on whether to keep it or not, now that I am nearly out of school. x_x
Awww yeah! Hyped for Rainy Night!
I personally like Burning Boar Guild; makes it sound gritty and more mercenary-ish, like they are rather cruel hunters. I bet their guild insignia/crest would look pretty bad ass though!
As for why they would be in town; being between jobs would probably be the most straightforward route. But if we really wanna delve into it or maybe allow more people to join the RP, they could be on a job for perhaps a wealthy nobleman or something. Perhaps hunting/poaching the 'special game' that was exclusive to the forests around the area? (Looks at Maren and the weird monster that attacked their group previously) <v<
