The Revenants

No one knows quite where they came from, no one knows quite what their intentions are, who brought them here, why anyone would do that or even if it was intended to happen. What is known however is that they have never responded to any communications and have stopped at nothing in their attempt to eliminate every lifeform.

There exists between their galaxy and ours a rift, tearing apart the void and establishing a route through. Something which can be used both ways. When explorers entered the rift they found mineral-rich but devastated worlds. Burn husks of ships torn apart from inside and out. Colonies began to be established, mining these planets rich in precious resources, but that was when they arrived.

Fleets upon fleets carrying their cargo's of tripedal clockwork monsters arrived, attacking everything in site. Their weapons rained fire down on the colonies and anyone unfortunate to be left behind would find them and their structures being disassembled by the Revenants.

Any and all attempts to contact this mysterious force have failed, no language works, no communication even responded to, just constant dismemberment of anything they get within their grasp. The full size and scale of this force has yet to be seen, no one knows what the brains behind these abominations are planning if there even is a driving force behind their destruction of all life, though the rich and uninhabited planets beyond are an alluring target for any miner daring enough to risk a blockade and the waiting machines inside.

There is no malice in their expansion, no cruel or twisted plan. Just cold unfeeling orders, the Revenants cannot be persuaded, they cannot be bought, they only expand and kill.

Whatever the case is venture too far and too long into Revenant Space and you never return
