Officer Keith Kennedy chased after the Lamborghini at a top speed chase. He had called for back up and soon they were with him. A blockade was placed at the end of the long stretch of road. This time they would get the Lamborghini for sure.

The Lamborghini suddenly had a burst of speed and left them behind in the dust. But the guys at the blockade would be ready....
"Car 44 to blockade. Suspect put on a burst of speed and left us in the dust. Be ready for impact."

"Blockade to Car 44. We are ready for the suspect. No roads of sufficient size for it to turn on. A few old buildings at the old Miller Homestead." was t he response.

"Car 44 10fours that." Officer Kennedy spoke and hang up the mike. In a few minutes they were at the blockade with no sign of the Lamborghini. The search started but that Lamborghini once more eluded them.

Back at the office, the officers were scolded and told that they had to be more deligent. They each were given a scenting dog to work with. They would need to learn a second code langauge. A briefcase was placed in front of each officer. The next day and for the next 2 months or more, they would work 6 days a week with their partners.

Officer Kennedy was given an young Irish Wolfhound named Max for it was the maximum size that was allowed. It was considered a sight dog and was a top notch sniffer.

Officer Kenndy and Max went him in the police car. He had the supplies in the back of the car as well as the breifcase. He was glad that the next day was a day off. He went in the house and called out

"You up Brian?"
"Yep. And will be working 6 days a week and 12 hour days. 4 hours will be classroom time. We have a new houseguest and might be a permanent one." Keith spoke as he walked in with a giant dog.

"Brian, meet Max. He is my new partner. Only I am allowed to touch or feed or anything else. He will be with me at all times."
"I am on a special case is all that I can tell you. Now I am going to let Max loose and the two dogs can greet each other. Keep an eye on King and I'll handle Max. Hopefully they will let each other alone. " Keith spoke seriously.
((Not yet... Keith's mind is busy with other things. To keep the suspense going..... and misidentifying him.))

"Hungry and tired. Max seems not to care one way or the other. Well, that is good. I need to set up a corner in the kitchen for him but do not touch anything. Is that understood? I'd talk more but I must start studying." Keith spoke as he scratched Max's head.
"Sure and some pasta...breadsticks and soda. Get two so that we have leftovers. Now skedaddle. And I am working late shift the next 2 months so behave yourself." Keith spoke as he snapped his fingers.

Max stood up and followed his new owner to the kitchen. Keith made a place next to his chair for Max. A bed on the floor and bowls on a rubber mat that could be pushed or pulled out from under the table.
"Fine......" Keith mumbled as he made notes on a sheet of paper.
"Toss a couple slices on a plate and a stick or two for me, please....."

Max picked up his ears and stood up. he kept an eye on Brian but did not make a move.
"It is a very grave matter, son. I will get my sleep on my day off. Sure. That's no problem as long as you leave me a daily note of what is going on here. Earning decent money I hope......." Keith spoke as he picked up the pizza and bit into it then went back to reading once more.
"Fine. I'll be gone in the morning for my first class. Some day off, huh? Enjoy your new job. Learn much. " Keith spoke once again not looking up since he was so absorbed in is books.

After another hour, Keith let Max out to run in the dog run while he cleaned up his stuff. He made sure that the briefcase contianed all of the paperwork.

He let Ma back in and together they went to bed.
Officer Kennedy let Max out then made breakfast for Max. Max did his business and came to the door. 1 short bark then silence. Officer Kennedy went to the door and let Max in before heading upstairs to his room.

A shower, shave and dressed within a half hour, he walked downstairs to make sure that he had locked the briefcase before he went out to the patrol car. A short drive to the Police Station and parked in his spot. Each patrolman had his own parking spot. Being a senior officer of 20 years had a few benefits and at the end of the day, he was grateful for the shorter walk.

He walked into the building and met up with Bill who was in basic training with him. They worked together many times and were great friends. Bill still had his wife, Dawn but Keith had lost his wife to a drunk hit and run driver that had his license taken away.

To this day, Keith does not speak of his loss two years ago. But he managed to stay busy and having a teenage son helped. He was glad that Brian was not in any trouble or he would take a leave of absence or request to be relieved of the case. He would most likely be given either one.

"Bill. Breakfast?" Keith asked as he walked up to him.
"Keith. Yeah." Bill responded as he nodded to Keith.

Both men snapped their fingers and the two dogs walked side by side behind the men.

"Odd that we got the 2 Irish Wolfhounds, huh?" Keith spoke as they entered the cafeteria.

"Yeah and they be a female and male. Lady is a good dog however." Bill spoke quietly.

"Max too." Keith responded.

All too soon it was time for class.

This was the beginning of Keith's day.......
Class was over and they went to examined the new dog run. Here they excercised their dogs for over an hour instead of the normal routine work out they did when they came to work. The dogs responded well to their own tasks. They had a good work out and was to have a good work out twice a day. Besides the walks. They were given a pass to the town's dog park where they could go on their day off or on breaks for the dogs. Both places had vending machines with healthy foods and sweet treats for both the officer and dog. The town went all out for these dogs and they were lucky to be choosen for the project.

Soon the men went home to learn the new language which they would speak to their dogs.

Once home, Keith took the coffee pot into the office and his coffee supplies. A basket of fruit and one of other snacks was taken in. Keith made a sign where he was busy until 7. He studied the language.
Keith was still working in the study at two different things. First he practiced with his new home language kit. He was learning how to speak fluent Old Gealic. The Kit contianed language lessons where he could respond to the machine as he listened through the ear phones. He had a long way to go.

Second. He was taking an old map and marking the roads in different colors for easy identification of size and road surface. Then with his advanced GOOGLE account, he tapped into various buildings. He compared the old map with the newer map and he was right. The older map had 'unofficial roads' on it or ones that are no longer used. He then placed the buildings on the map from GOOGLE as close as he could but in green while the others where in purple.

He looked at his watch to see that it was past 5:30. He knew of a print shop that would stay open if he hurried.

"Come Max." he spoke quickly as he dialed the number to make the arrangements. Max went out and did his job quickly then together they left quickly.
Keith was greeted by the store owner and he went inside. He explained what he wanted and the owner had 3 copies made in the matter of 15 minutes. He paid for them and left for home where he let Max out to run for a while.

While he watched Max chase the ball he threw, he texted Brian.

Coming home soon?
Keith was glad that Brian was on his way home. He went to the office and put the newly made maps in the brief case. The store owner was an amazing guy for what ever he did to the maps, they where laminated but would fold up like a paper map. It was well worth the money he spent on them.

He went out, locking the door behind him and went to warm up the pizza and pasta while he waited for Brian. He needed his sleep but he also needed to get used to his new shedule. It had been a few years since he had to pull a swing shift. At least he and Bill would be out together even though they were in seperate cars. It seemed that these races took place during all hours of the day and night but late night seemed to be the best time to find them.
Interesting to say the least. We now have a pass for the new dog park and there's one at the station in that vacant lot. I guess we acquired it recently. Even has tunnels and chutes and hurdles.
Class was a dog training class. Max and Lady that's Bill's dog, we're perfect. The others had problems here or there. And they are the youngest of the group.

How was your day?" Keith asked.
"I'm glad that you are learning those kinds of things. Never know when you are going to need to do them yourself. Ready to eat?" Keith spoke as he turned around to see Brian oush his hair out of his eyes.
"Brian, remind me of how old you are......."
"I just noticed that you dyed your hair is all. I keep forgetting that you are a grown man now. Let's eat before it gets cold.
Have you thought about enrolling in auto mechanics at the college?" Keith asked.
"It is ok but I wouldn't waste the money on dying my hair. Even it is going grey. Too bad about the college class being full. Is there any classes that you can take either this fall or next spring? I'm not going to support you forever you know." Kieth reminded him.
"I won't toss you out yet but by next summer you better be commited to college or a job some where so you can move out while I am still around to make sure you are down the right path."

Keith sat down at the table and helped himself to some pizza.
"Yeah. I wonder who bought it but we did enjoy those races. Think that whoever bought it is gonna make it into a drag strip again?" Keith asked with a smile.
"If I had the money, I'd buy it for the memory sake. But since I don't, I will have to think about maybe being a member if the new owner starts up the club again." Keith spoke with a smile.
Keith was ready for the night shift and he smiled as he went down stairs. He looks around for Max who came right away to his finger snapping.
"All right boy let's go find one of those racers, ok?" He picked up his briefcase and left to start his shift from his driveway.

As soon as he got in the car, he got a call to a scene not too far away. He 10-4ed it as Max got in.

"This may be one of them, Max. Hold on, boy." he said as he pulled out of the driveway and turned on his lights as he raced to the scene.

Once there Kieth saw a bright pink car......... or what was left of a pink Golf GT.
He called for ambulance and shooed the people back with Max standing guard.

A female was in the car unconcious at the moment. He reached into the car and took her pulse to which he was relieved. It was a young female that was not badly hurt but may have a concussion.

"Hey, do we have a live one?" Bill asked as he came to the car after sending Lady for crowd control.

"Yeah. Looks like one of those racers too. Ambu on its way?" Keith asked.

"Yep. I'll guide while you watch." Bill spoke then left Keith to keep an eye on the female.
