Autumn Romance

"Stay put, Miss. An ambulance is coming for you. You hit that pole pretty hard. You have a large cut.
Were you out drinking and driving? " he asked gently as he took a gauze pad and pressed it against her head.

"About how fast were you going, miss? Also I need to see your drivers license, car registration and insurance." Keith asked as he looked at the female quietly.

"Mhmmm....... The ambulance is here and will take a look at you." Patrol Officer spoke as he took the papers and license away with him.

The ambulance people rushed forward taking charge of things.

After checking Kelly's record, he asked for them to call her parents to meet them at the hospital.
Officer worked on his paperwork as the paramedics worked on Kelly. They placed compression boots on her legs and a neck collar then eased her out on a back board before moving her to the stretcher.

Officer Kennedy whistled for Max to come as he placed Kelly's paperwork in an envelope. He looked up in time for the ambulance to drive away.
Now he had to drive to the hospital.

Once Officer Kennedy was finished with the paper and upon finding out there wasn't any parents at the house, it was his duty to go there and speak with them.

He walked uo to the door of the dark house and knocked loudly. After several attempts, one of the neighbors yelled out of the window.

"Quiet down there before I call the police!"

"I am the police. I am trying to find Mr and Mrs Rivers. " Officer Kenneday spoke.

"They ain't alive any longer. Just the girl lives there." the voice yelled back then slammed the window.

"So the next stop will be the hospital........" Keith spoke to himself.

By the time that Kieth had reported what the neighbor said, he was nearly ready for lunch. 4 and a half hours passed so quickly that he did not have time to think of lunch. He'd just stop in the diner at the hospital.

The ambulance had dropped off Kelly by now and was readying it for the next run.

Kelly would be in a room and should be in a gown waiting on the dr.

"Miss Rivers, I am Dr White. I heard that you had an accident. Let me see what kind of damages you have there. Your forehead will need a few stitches. When will your parents arrive?" Dr White asked.

"I see......Who is your gaurdian? I can't give you any drugs without the permission of who is your guardian." Dr White spoke noting that she was all right for the most part.

Kieth arrived at the hospital to find out that Kelly was in the hospital and the news of her parents. To pass the time, Keith took a lunch break. He called Bill.

"Bill, you got a few?" Kieth asked.
"Yeah, what's up." Bill asked.
"The girl is an orphan. You still have the license?" Keith asked.
"Yeah. Got to ask the wife though." Bill spoke.
"Do so and let me know, ok?" Kieth asked as his burger was placed in front of him.
"Will do. " Bill hung up.

Keith hung up and began to eat.

"How do you get the money to pay bills? To buy food?" Dr White was puzzled about why didn't the state step in to help this girl. He would certianly see about finding someone to watch over her.

By the time Kieth finished his burger, the phone rang.
"Yo." Keith spoke.
"Anna will be delighted to help out. She is on her way to the hospital. " Bill spoke.
"Great. I'm still in the cafe." Keith spoke in relief.
"Figured you would still be there. The hospital won't take chances with a minor unless it is life threating. She should be there." Bill spoke.
"Aye. A most beautiful angel just walked in. Catch you later." Keith spoke then hung up.

"Hello, Anna. Ready to be an Angel?" Keith asked s he held out his arm to her.
"Of course or I wouldn't be here. Where is my young lady?" Anna asked as she took his arm.

"I have heard of those who are doing street racing. It's a shame that the old raceway is not up and running anymore. Well, well.....An Angel is looking into the room. Just the person that we need." Dr White spoke as he noticed the glass door.

Keith and Anna were standing there smiling into the room.

"This is an Earthly Angel that is trying her best to earn her wings by helping teens in need. The main problem is to get one of these Earthly Angels, you must qualify. In order to qualify, you must open your mouth and speak up or someone must speak for you. They don't take just any case.

You are fortunate this time because if this Earthly Angel didn't agree to take care of your needs- a home, food, shelter, medical care- you would be going to Junivile Delinquent Home because of your age.

Would you at least meet your Earthly Angel and sponser?" Dr White asked gently.

Dr White waved them in.

"May I present Anna..... her husband is a cop like Officer Kennedy who has a teenage son. "

"Nearly 20 now, Doc." Keith chuckled.

"Hello, Kelly. I an here to speak with you about where you will be going. Will you talk to me openly and honestly?" Anna asked.

The men quietly left the room.

"The men left so that we ladies can talk in private. What you have to say won't leave this room unless you wish for it to.

I will ask questions about when your parents died and how. Then about how you have survived since then. Last but not the least, where you will be going since you are a minor.

Any questions that you may have before we begin?" Anna asked.

"When did your parents die and how? There may be some monetary recompense in certian circumstances." Anna picked up a box of tissues and placed them close to Kelly.

"I am sorry to hear that your teen years have been so horrible, Kelly......" Anna reached over to Kelly's hand and patted it gently.
"Would you like to have a hug before we go on?"

Anna came over and held Kelly close to her in a gentle hug.

"Who is this Hunter? Why would he want to kill you?"

In her mind she was sad for Kelly and her poor life style.
Anna was also a maternal person and had lost a daughter at 16 to cancer. Not that Kelly looked anything like Cherise, she simply felt a maternal pull towards this girl who was cheated out of a happy teen life.

"I see... he does sound horrid. Who is this one who is not under Hunter?" Anna asked quietly as she held Kelly.

"First thing to do is to find you a safe home. My home is a Earth Angel Home and you could live with me. Or you can go to Juvi. Or live at my place until we find you another safe House or Earth Angel Home. The last choice is to live inhouse mental hospital until you are of age and possibly longer if there are more problems.

Second thing is what to do with your home. Do you wish to sell it or do you want to keep it? There are Angel Sitters that will live in your home until you are able to be on your own.

The choices are yours to make tonight. Tomorrow a judge will decide for you. " Anna spoke gently.

"Would you let me and my husband be your guardians? That means you would have to obey our rules, let us help you decide what to do with your stuff and things like that. I have a bedroom and a sitting room that you can use on the second floor. We don't have any children at home and our son is married but lives in another state.
We have a few retired police dogs but they are for our protection. They will accept you if we introduce you to them." Anna spoke.

"Three retired german shepard-husky mix. Bill has a new one that is an Irish Wolfhound.
Let me see if Officer Kennedy called for temporary custody forms ready for us to take custody of you. " Anna spoke as she texted.

A couple minutes passed and a text came back.

"The custody forms are on their way with the judge tonight. Will your home be ok for the night? Do you want to go there for the night then move tomorrow?" Anna asked.

"I'll take you by and we shall go inside for what ever you need. Bill will be with us since we need a police escort. Lady will be there but do not go to towards her or to Bill. " Anna spoke.

There were several people at the door including Lady.

"May we come in?" Dr White asked.

"Yes, you may come in." Anna spoke.

"Thanks, This Officer you know, then there is Officer Jones and Lady. This is Max who is partnered with Officer Kennedy. This is the Circuit Clerk, Mrs. Peacock. And last is Judge Andrews." Dr White spoke quietly.
