Midna had been on the move with her pack for a couple of months since a landslide had ended up washing away their home. They had been lucky that the majority of them made it. However, their oldest pack member, an elderly wolf that had once been the alpha female, had ended up perishing. She simply hadn't been fast enough but she had refused to call out for help, not wanting to risk her fellow pack members. None had realized that she wasn't with them until it was too late.

They had been on the move ever since. Midna was a large wolf with copper red fur and black markings. Her fur was lighter around her cheeks and belly. She moved with all the confidence befitting an alpha, her head was at shoulder level but she held her head high as she trotted into the cave they were currently using. It was too low and wet for them to make good use of it, and they were looking for another home and considered this one to be temporary.

Her motions were animated, her eyes bright. "I might have found a place where we can stay. It's on higher ground, more protected from the rains. And the entrance is small but it's wider within, easily defended. A bear lives there, though," she added afterward, her tail wagging behind her now. "Nothing we cannot handle, I'm sure," she looked to the other alpha for his support before gauging the responses of the other pack members.

He looked up from where he lay. He was not the same as the other wolves in the pack. He was the last of his kind. The largest of any wolf species to ever walk the earth. He stood up and stretched. “A beat sounds like fun to me. And the pack could use the meat. I vote we take the new den.” He looked around at the others
The alpha male looked at the alpha female and closed his eyes in a slow manner, almost as if he was using the motion to cover for his laziness that day. He'd been the alpha since nearly the beginning, only taking the pack over when the elderly alpha female's mate had been killed by hunters. He had known Midna all that time and knew that if she had faith in the pack, anything could be done.

"Bears are more active during the day. Why don't we wait until it is returning to the den for the night? It might be more tired then, they tend to get stupid after a good day of eating."

The thought of food had his own gut churning with hunger. On the journey from their former den to this cramped cave, he had made sure that they had eaten before he had. He could not consider himself an alpha if he had no pack. He would need to venture out on his own at some point to catch something for himself so they did not begin to worry.
He stood up, his shoulders were almost the same height as a small/average human at 5 feet. His long frame stretched as he yawned. He was anxious and knew the pack was hungry. He slipped out of the den when no one was looking. His old pack had hunted moose so he felt he could handle one of the elk in the area pretty well. He put his nose to the wind and caught a scent of a bull. He began tracking the male elk and made his way through the terrain carefully so as not to make a sound. A few miles from the den he found the meal he had been searching for. He watched the bull in a clearing and plotted his attack. He made his way to a spot in dense cover that the elk would be heading to. He waited patiently, his dense black fur blowing gently in the wind as he lay flat to the ground in ambush. As the bull stepped into range he kept from the snow and latched his massive jaws onto its throat, hitting the elk with enough momentum to knock it to the ground. He immediately began to rip and tear at the throat. As he felt the pieces separate from the elk he let go and moved back slightly to let it bleed out. As the elk kicked one last time Otaktay let out a howl to the pack
Midna picked up on T'ler's indolent manner. She trotted over and nudged him playfully, more because she wanted to annoy him that anything. With a mix of a grumble and snort, she laid down next to him. "We just need to decide who goes in to poke the bear and lure it out," Midna said. "Returning at night would be for the best. It will take time to wear it down and kill it, even if it is tired after a day of foraging."

She wagged her tail and smiled whenever Otaktay said that he voted to take on the bear. "We always need food," she agreed. "It will be risky, though, taking on a bear. One swipe of their claw could rend any of us apart. We'll have to use strategy, keep our distance but keep making it mad enough to pay attention."

The alpha female was suspicious that T'ler went without to make sure the other pack members had enough food. She knew that she'd never get him to admit to it. Midna had not seen where Otaktay went but her ears pricked whenever she heard his howl in the distance. Leading the others out of their den, she trotted toward the source. The smell of blood was tantalizing to her sensitive nose. Midna was worried that other predators would pick on the noise and smell and come to investigate, she was vigilant as she came upon the scene. "This was bold, and therefore risky," she said to Otaktay, "but it's a good kill."
“It wasn’t to bad. They aren’t much bigger than I am. And alpha hasn’t eaten in a while.” His bloody muzzle still dripping. “I’ll keep watch while y’all eat.”
As morning rays bore into day paws of ivory hue thudded along muddied trail, it had been moons sence her trekk from a home she no loner had and even longer sence shewolf had found another.

Yet it was apon this trekk she took pause audits perking and pulling forth at a howl she didnt recongnize and the tangy scent of elk blood filled her sences. This discovery causes ears to drop and tassle to droop to lay still between her legs before slowly and with caution again paws move forth.
Psycho padded forwards. He was some distance from the pack, laying down and watching carefully. He seemed at ease for now, but when the sky darkened he knew his brief respite will be over.

Sighing, he stood, claws digging into the soft earth as he headed towards the alpha.
