I have the basic idea for who Miss Ash is. I don't know what she's capable of our what sort of story you'd like to see for her.

She's something of a loner, more comfortable online than in person. Outgoing when comfortable, I'm guessing very reserved when she isn't.

What does she want?

What does she care about?

What traumatic thing caused her to realize her power?

What is her power?

She wants to graduate from college without incident. But at the same time, she wants to help those around her college campus, indirectly. She usually gets her information from the college newspaper and always reads the police reports around campus to gather an understanding of what is happening.

She cares about her fellow students. Having been schooled long enough to become attached to those like her, she lingers into such late hours during the weekday and offers her rather reclusive self and valuable time.

She also cares about justice, as others should receive their due if they have a debt of careless behavior.

One day, she was walking home and she noticed a pair of shoes laying on the sidewalk. They were black sandals. Another day, she found a used condom. She brought up these findings to some of the other students, especially to the local newspaper, but no one knew anything. It remained a mystery.

That is, until she was approached by a few men while walking home late at night. They were starved beasts, ferocious and wild. The shoes of their last victim were close by. Two of them had grabbed her arms, while the third was speaking about words that were lost within the moment. So she opened the gate doors, if only briefly, and let the beasts handle them. Canine-like creatures, with eyes of burning coals and mouths that black ichor dripped from, attacked the men.

Thankfully, they were allowed to live, but strangely, none of them remembered what had happened. All of the three currently reside in a nearby hospital, having been attacked by wild canines late at night.

Her Legend has many powers, but she has yet to unravel all of the mysteries. She is the Gate-Keeper, opening and closing entrances to another world. This other world is deep beneath the earth as heaven is above the sky and is named Tartarus.

Creatures best left in this other world come at her beckoning, but not all that are called are controlled. The size of the door opened usually determines what can fit through. She hasn't experimented traversing through the doorways herself though.

Dogs tend to bark when she is near, to signal her approach, but this is likely not a power in of itself, and has caused her to be more inclined to have cats as pets.
I like it.

So, currently, she can open a door to Tartarus, allowing passage through, likely from both sides, but she's never traveled over herself. I imagine that any others that might have passed through one of your doorways were dragged by some beast and unable to return. So, through these doorways she can summon beasts to do her bidding (Typically hounds, but potentially others as well), but those beasts aren't always well controlled, so using that aspect of her power can causing unintended consequence/harm.

She hasn't dealt all that far into the depths of her Legend, but that gives her plenty of room to grow and she has her mundane talents as well.

Is she a hacker?
A hacker? Oh no, she watches online streams of roleplaying games, video games, and watches a lot of anime. She does not hack anything.
Understood. I wasn't sure if her gatekeeping abilities would appy to datagates as well.

So, the threat on campus from her backstory hasn't been resolve yet, I'm guessing?
The men she encountered could easily have been influenced by a greater power. But the idea of her college being a hunting ground still exists and other predators are hiding in plain sight. Or something much like that.
Are you interested in using the actual system? I could guide you through character creation without too much difficulty.
I don't mind, either way. I am always interested in learning about new games, however.
City of Mist has a free starter set on DrivethruRPG. If you want to check it out, that'd be a good place to start. I could set up a dropbox link to the starter set.

The starter doesn't explain character creation, but it's pretty straightforward and has 7 sample characters, along with an explanation of the mechanic.
I have the free starter set and it looks to be very interesting. I would have to look more into my chosen Legend for answers to the Mythos theme. The character creation steps seem to be very free form.

Edit: The Core book is 510 pages long!
Perhaps possible Mythos tags would be:

Goddess of the Gate

"Where did this power come from?"

Strengths:

Create passages where there are none
Open doors to other worlds
Beckons beasts from the other side

Weakness:
Cannot always control non-hounds

Weaker during the day

Typically, a Theme has 1 weakness, but yes. I would spin 'Weaker during the day' off into another theme. Maybe one that's nocturnal driven. She could also have a theme along the lines of 'Otaku'.
Some examples had more than one weakness, but I think I could shift it over.

Nocturnal- Routine

"I stay awake, into the hours past midnight if I have to."

Strengths:

Doesn't tire easily
Creates more time for hobbies/homework
Nightly second wind

Weakness:
Early hours

I love the Otaku suggestion, because it's probably true.

Otaku-

"Anime, my computer, and wine is all the social conduct I will ever need."

Strengths:

Computer Savvy
Great at Cosplay
Can Act

Weakness:
Social Shut-In
Schooling - Routine

Strengths:

Grants and Scholarships
Library Resources
Free Transportation

Weaknesses:

Homework/Tests
I like it. She has one 'weird' theme and three mundane ones, and ask she continues to delve into her Mythos there are parts of her life that are important to her, but could fade in importance.
