Hello all, this thread will be used to plot out my legend. I'm thinking of some sort of schemer or kingpin character that manipulates from the shadows; maybe Loki what with him being the god of trickery? I'm open to suggestions.
Thus far, the legends in the game hew heavily toward Greek mythology, and I think it'd be rad if we could find a way to stick with that. How do you feel about Eris, the Greek goddess of strife, discord, and chaos?

Eris sounds good to me. One question though, does the legend's personality necessarily overwrite the inhabitant's own?
It absolutely doesn't. Blaise is still Blaise. He's also empowered by Eris. Now, Eris could potentially and probably will influence Blaise, but he's not the Goddess Eris living in a man's body.
Ok I get it now. Any questions I need to answer before we begin?
Lots.
Blaise's character page feels like it's written for a Medieval setting. Who is he in the City? What does he do for a living? Does he have family, friends, lovers?
How has he been empowered by Eris? How do his unnatural abilities manifest?

I'd imagine Blaise being involved in the city's political branch of work given his aptitude for coercion and manipulative personality. Blaise wouldn't have friends per-se, mainly colleagues that can aid him. He has certain trust issues due to his upbringing in a wealthy family that liked to keep a sterling reputation no matter the cost.
With Eris being the goddess of discord I was thinking that his powers allow him to forcefully sow discord into people's minds and make them think things that they normally wouldn't.
How those powers manifested I'm guessing would have to be some sort of trauma. I was thinking that maybe he was kidnapped due to his start in the political scene and he made the members of the group turn against each other so he could slip away.

Sure. I’m down with that, but let’s specify it down.
Is he a city councilman? Board of education, a comptroller?
How does his discord sowing work? Is his voice super persuasive? Can he telepathically increase stress and inflame underlying tensions in someone’s subconscious? Does he inflict paranoid schizophrenia on people? Eris is chaotic, so it’s probably not too precise/controllable.

A councilman sounds good for Blaise.
I was thinking that since Eris is chaotic that he would instigate the paranoia with the word "fairest" being embedded into one of his sentences. The paranoia beyond that point is completely out of Blaise's control as it relies solely on what the victim is concerned about and fears.

Fairest?
Now he's sounding like Maleficent. Fits a bit better with the nobility angle, isn't Greek, but it feels right. Plus, Maleficent is more in the cultural consciousness. You could have mirror abilities, poison abilities. Just depended on how much you wanted to lean into that, if you did at all.

I chose fairest because Eris started the Trojan War by giving the goddesses a gift signed "to the fairest". Aphrodite was chosen and in return for voting for her, the judge got to marry Helen of Troy who was already married thus starting the Trojan War.
I do see where you're coming from with the sounding like Maleficent thing though.

Ahh, you've out Greeked me, sir. Well done.
So, Blaise is a politician with little in the way of friends with the Goddess of Discord kicking around his head. What would cause him to get involved in our little mysteries?
For example, Missing Emily. Why would he care?

Well, Blaise would definitely have to have something to gain himself before even considering helping others. Perhaps this Emily is a relative of a fellow council member and if she is found the councilman could owe Blaise a favour to be named at a later date.
Groovy. Great answer.
I encourage players to invent details for themselves. I want you to want to be involved, and I'll help you come up with reasons to care. I'll also try to tailor cases to the group, but I'm not a GM who tries to chase players who don't want to engage.
Alrighty, I will likely come up with more questions with time, but if you want to jump into the IC thread and start, you're welcome to.
