(sorry was editing some stuff.
ye the zombie saferoom sounds like a good place to start.)
This wasn't how he'd pictured his first day would go. Sirens blaring, people screaming, hiding in a locked room? Well, maybe. But he'd really hoped that wouldn't be the case.
The room was startlingly well maintained, even if it was insulting. Did they think he was unable to open a door? Press a glowing green OPEN button?
He just hoped this wouldn't affect his chances of getting his spot on the football team. Yes, cliche, but that was the best part. All the coolest human guys were on the football team. If he was able to prove himself there, he could prove himself anywhere. He just had to find a way to the field.
Preferably, after the mass hysteria died down.

Addison rolled her eyes as her new friend Bree ran away screaming at the supposed sight of a zombie in the hallway. Sure, having them attend the same school was pretty nerve-racking, but surely there was no way that one of the zombies had left their designated area. Right?
Just to be on the safe side, Addison headed towards the nearest Zombie Saferoom, conveniently labeled as such in glowing green print. She pushed the door open and slipped inside.
As soon as the door closed behind her, the change in volume was significant. Where before she was bombarded by the yells and shrieks of panicked students, now all Addison heard was the buzz of the fluorescent lights and her own breathing.
The room looked exactly like it always did in her schools' mandatory "Z-Drills". In the case of an ambush from some rogue zombies, or, god forbid, another outbreak occurred, all non-infected persons were to locate to the nearest Zombie Saferoom. She'd had these instructions engraved in her brain since she was in preschool.
Wandering around, Addison noticed that the room was empty. She sighed. Of course her fellow peers wouldn't be here. As soon as something dangerous happened, all rational thought was thrown out the window. She sat on one of the bunks and pulled out her phone, planning to crush some candy until this "crisis" was over.

Just as he started to feel his brain numb itself from boredom, the door was opened. Though his z-band kept his rather unsavory primal appetite under control, it did little to limit his natural tendency towards speed. It was either the zombie blood chugging through his grey veins, or the fact he was 6'2 and lanky as all hell. Either way, he was able to duck into the shadows effortlessly. The shelving acted as natural camouflage.
He waited for what seemed like forever, though was probably only about two minutes, before his heart stopped racing. If it was one of those pastel pink jock-types chasing after him, they would have surely ransacked the entire place for him by now. So who the hell was in here, and why were they so quiet?
Mmmm! Delicious! Chimed in a cheery, high-pitched voice. Zed nearly shit himself. The artificial voice seemed to scream in the silent, sterile space. He regained his composure, then his brow furrowed. Who the fuck was in here without scouting the area? Who the fuck was in a zombie safe room mid-panic playing goddamn Candy Crush? Who plays Candy Crush besides middle aged moms?
He slowly but surely crept out of the shadows, his dark eyes peering through the racks of stored supplies. There, in the middle of the room, under one of the only lightbulbs in the place, was a girl. A blonde-haired, baby blue dress wearing, girl. He moved to take a step closer when he slammed his foot into one of the shelves, letting out a muffled groan in pain as the sound ricocheted off the narrow walls.

Addison almost dropped her phone from shock when she heard a loud BANG! in the back corner of the room. Locking her phone, she slowly stood up from the bed, peering in the direction of the noise.
"...hello?" she called out timidly. She scolded herself mentally for not bothering to scope out the room before she got comfortable. She felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her briefly.
The farther she was from the main light source in the room, the more her eyes adjusted to the dark. Now, she could make out an undeniably human figure in the corner of the room.
Before she could stop herself, Addison quizzically asked, "Why are hiding back there?"

As the pain subsided in his foot, his ringing ears struggled to make out her words. He froze and looked at the direction of her voice. She was a bit closer now. He couldn't quite make out her face, but her golden hair made the light feather around her like a halo. He felt his little green heart give a stutter, and he chastised himself for being immature.
"I'm not hiding," he lied. He searched for something else to say, but gave up. "Okay, I'm hiding. But so are you. This is a safe room after all." Lame. Dear god, that was really lame. He stood up straight, finding he was a good deal taller than her. Being 6'2, this wasn't abnormal, but he hoped it would help disguise his less than human features. Not only was she cute, but he also would rather not get kicked over the fence extra crispy after a pleasant jog from an angry mob.
It'd be really hard to get onto the football team then.
"I'm Zed," he offered, hoping that that ever-present sea-brook etiquette could save his undead ass. "What's your name?"
