So,I've been obsessing over Maurice (1987) and Kill Your Darlings all over again,yup.
The idea is basically an unconditional love story between two people of the same gender,doesn't matter if it's MxM or FxF and there doesn't have to be psychical intimacy right away if requested. To be honest,I'm a fan of slow burns in romance but of course affectionate scenes are acceptable because daily fluff is healthy for the heart.
In a period where people are repressed from showing their true colors,I thought two people genuinely enjoying each other's company and realizing they can't live without each other could be something very emotionally motivating to write/read.
Moreover,they will be living the best times of their youth; many fun memories to leave behind and wishes to fulfil.
The country of choice can be picked together but the setting of time is from 1900's to 1920's.
Angst always adds spice to the story but I like to refrain from over the top drama in order to keep it overall enjoyable. If the pairing is strong enough, it would be interesting to see the damaging ways of WWI reflected on their relationship.
