Laws

  • - Please follow all of the rules and guidelines for the website

    - Romance is allowed!

    - There aren't any restrictions on language and explicit content.
***However, we will ask that you respect other players and their views on such content. For this reason, explicit sexual scenes are to be written in a private forums, whether that be a private room or just a separate chat such as private messaging.

    - No god modding/meta gaming!
God modding, also called meta gaming, is when a player finds out information regarding the plot or another character, and uses that to their advantage. Simply put, it is taking OOC information and using it IC without approval. Another common mistake (accidental god modding) is when a character is written to have different thoughts or emotions but does not outwardly show them. If another player suddenly writes in noticing that emotion or thought, it is technically not possible and goes against the original plot and plan.
Ex: Mary glanced at Jimmy with a cool expression, though her thoughts were rife with anger and the need for vengence.
    Incorrect response:
Jimmy gulped, looking at Mary as he sensed her anger.
    Correct response:
Jimmy pursed his lips at Mary's cool expression, unsure what to make of her attitude.

While neither of these responses are nessecarily bad, it is preferred that you do not take OOC knowledge or take control of scenes such as battle or unrealistic hunts, UNLESS it is first discussed with your partner/group, or you have been given permission to have certain powers.

    - Only ONE character can be in a high position.
Ex: If you have a character that is a Mayor, or leader in a gang, you cannot have another character as a leader or second in command in another town/gang.

    - You can have as many characters as you want in here as long as you can handle it.
Please keep in mind that if one or several characters are being neglected and are in a higher rank, they will be demoted after two weeks of inactivity. The recommended amount of players is 1-3. (None of us WANT to be that person to have to change your rank, so it is recommended you have no more than three unless you have more experience working with more characters.)

    - Be respectful of our fellow players!
There are several ways to achieve respect and keep our RP rolling smoothly:
    * Communicate DIRECTLY, KINDLY, and CLEARLY with other players.
There is no such thing as over communication! Ask questions about the story, about characters, and other ideas. Furthermore, if certain posts or content is upsetting, it is within your rights to express your discomfort and ask for perhaps a re-worked version.

Here is a possible message to use: "Hello ______! I am in the group ______ with you and wanted to talk about a recent post of yours. I noticed some content that is triggering/upsetting/offensive and would like to respectfully ask you to edit this part of your post to keep our RP a safe, fun place. Thanks!"

*We DO NOT tolerate drama, gossip, or overall rude behavior.
If you have a problem with a player or are experiencing bullying/harassement, do not hesitate to contact Mercury, along with Moderators working the official website.
    * Do not become entitled in the story.
While we want everyone to have a chance to be a main character in the group roleplay, it will not happen all at once. Respectful playing involves knowing when to be a supporting character rather than in the spotlight the whole time.
    * No racial, sexual orientation, sexist, or religious slurs will be tolerated.

    - Please remain somewhat active and let us know of any planned absences.
Life can get in the way. We get it. This RP does not have to be at the top of your priority list, but this group is based on being fair and inclusive, and we care about you! So if you have a chance, simply post in Planned Absenses so that we can write accordingly.

    - After your character is accepted, fill out a form that will help everyone get to know your character more.
This is to help us remain organized and make sure applied characters have their requested or previously discussed role. Depending on how the story is filled and the plot created, knowing which characters have rank or fame in the plot will help others understand.

    - Only literate writers will be accepted. Small typos can be overlooked but everyone needs to be able to read your responses and properly follow along with your post.
***If you struggle with grammar or want your work perfected, look up websites like Grammarly. It is FREE, and you have access to synonyms, proper fixes in your grammar, and advice to better your writing.
