  • The Faction

The Humanitarian Enforcement System is the length of the government put out to control and maintain the various colonies. While the HES is not the government itself, it acts to enforce the laws that the acting government body puts into place. The HES is also in responsible for humanitarian efforts and defense. In a reality where humans have to share space with two other known sentient species, the HES has to be ready to not only hold off military threats, but also to host diplomatic discussions.

    Military Designations

    SuVV
    - Surface, Vacuum, Vessel. SuVV operators are top class units. When space is limited on a ship and captains have to carry limited personnel, but carry out an assortment of tasks, SuVV fill the role perfectly. Taking control of territories planetside, or defending their own vessel from invaders, SuVV operate with clean aim and coordination. This really shows through when operating in 0G, or sometimes not even in a vessel at all. These units can even latch onto the side of an enemy's hull, and cut their way through an airlock to take it over from the inside. They're the best of the best, and they welcome others to challenge that claim.

    VAS
    - Vacuum Assault and Support. From cargo to bombers, VAS covers the entirety of small craft which are deployed from a mothership for the sake of quick-reaction movement. Warships are large and are relatively clumsy, making it hard to get close, and aren't atmosphere-viable. VAS are capable of out maneuvering capital ships, and can carry heavy payloads. Most can carry some form of passengers between vessels, or to surface deployments. They provide air support to SuVV operations, defend capital ships from other mobile threats, and carry out fast, hard hit-and-run type strikes.

    Lore - UGC
    - United Galactic Colonies
The HES doesn't like to look back on this as anything other than something to have based revisions. The UGC had been the first attempt at a single banner of humanity. After the fall of the American United Front, the North Eurasian Independent Territories, European Union Revision, and Oceanic Trade Agreement realized the need to discuss peace. Technology kickstarted once the nations cooperated, and the first colonies were established on Mars, and later with the invention of the first FTL drive, several other colonies were erected in Alpha Centauri and Proxima systems. With humanity in need of an overall governing body, the UGC was formed with laws in place to dictate overall progress for developing future colonies.

The doctrines which formed the UGC were far from perfect, and in fact deeply flawed. Instead, UGC had brought uprisings in the colonies, and the first signs of interstellar warfare had developed. Primitive, and unsophisticated, UGC raids consisted of shuttles and FTL modular motherships that carried usually a handful of sixty at a time. It ended in the mistake of creating a new kind of human, one which later became a discriminated population of genetically superior superhumans. With all the mistakes UGC made, it finally dissolved after they'd won. It had been rewritten entirely, and instead allowed for independent sectors and a single overshadowing power which only enforced the laws put in place by the individual sectors. HES.
  • Character Profiles

    SuVV Personnel
    - Surface, Vacuum, Vessel Special Forces
    STASYA 'CRIER' VASILYEV (CDR)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Vasilyev being top of her class in the military academy in marksmanship up to 100m, and in planetside warfare, Vasilyev applied to the special forces division known by their nickname 'Fallen Angels'. Known by the formal name of SuVV, the division is known for Surface, Vacuum, and Vessel-boarding operations.

Vasilyev had been held in her single rank for two years of service before she finally applied for a transfer to an experimental class of battleship being deployed into the frontlines of a preventative border. The captain immediately recognized her actual skill and capabilities. It only took Coeur's single recommendation for the Captain of the Estella to promote her to Commander of SuVV team two. Commander Vasilyev has a record of missions without casualties. While her success rate isn't as perfect as she'd like, Vasilyev has only ever lost two men under her command, over the many deployments that her peers had described only as suicidal.

Vasilyev's aim and strategy sense have only improved since her first taking command. Most of her equipment is considered outdated or expired, but the head engineer aboard Estella has made sure to update certain components to ensure Vasilyev has every advantage available to bring herself and her squad back alive. She and her squad have all had tattoos done in memory of the few men that have fallen under their comradery, and a count of deployments returned without casualties.

    Psyche Eval.
Vasilyev shows a very strict personal constitution toward duty. On a positive note, the Commander has also displayed a surprising behaviour and mentality toward what we know to be universal ethics of humanity. Though, she has also shown some worrying mental instabilities regarding empathy. This is common to a soldier who's served as long as Commander Vasilyev has, but she's come to distance herself from the social activities her team would normally hold to celebrate victories and to tighten their bonds.

    CLAUDIE 'MOUSEY' CEOUR (LT)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Lieutenant Claudie 'Mousey' Ceour is an interesting case. Ceour started out originally as a basic scout of a forward infantry team, despite having shown to be incredibly clumsy in the academy. She had an impressive sprint record, so she was expected to be an early casualty. Surprisingly, she turned out to be an impressive 0G operator and was instead moved to 0G Specialized Operations. After transferring to the Estella, Commander Stasya 'Crier' Vasilyev pulled her along for several vacuum deployments and eventually made her an official part of the team.

Ceour has a strong moral constitution. While she is a very close quarters combatant, Commander Vasilyev will often steer her toward a more pacifist reconnaissance role, since she's shown guilt over homicide even in combat.

    Psyche Eval.
Ceour is actually a rather self-conscious individual. She seems to lack confidence and relies on the approval of her superior far too often. Though, she seems to be incredibly fond of her comrades, which while normally is a distraction for her combat role, Lieutenant Ceour has shown to use this as a strength on planetside missions. She is motivated by the safety her role on the field provides her team. Her clumsiness in general activity is a little amusing and seems to provide some source of banter among her team. Luckily, she seems to be adept and agile in long sprints and vacuum environments. This odd contrast is of interest to study. Ceour seems to value human life more than her desensitized comrades. She's had to visit me after every deployment, without saying anything. She just seems to want to spend time in silence with another human being.

    NIIYA KOMAEDA (LCDR)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Komaeda started her career in juvenile reform. For her nineteenth birthday, Komaeda had been given an urban 'Linear' as they had been nicknamed. A civilian flier to be able to travel after she finished school. Instead, she ended up being brought home by the authorities after participation in a race through the upper sections of the city. She had also been found with her vehicle modified using parts which allowed it to exceed safety limitations and various electronic components including instrument scramblers and a modified body which reinforced certain areas to handle heavier parts and lightened the load in other areas. Clearly intended for the engine to be replaced later down the road.

Three years in a military reform school had opened her eyes to a whole other culture. Rather than finish college, Komaeda enrolled in a military academy for VAS training. The kind of kinship and bond she had seen in the pilots she worked alongside changed her entire perspective of the military. She saw these other VAS pilots as truly, brothers in arms. How they cherished life and each other. Communicated and valued the things that had become taken for granted as culture came to simply expect the reality of interstellar travel as a minimum. The beauty of seeing a planet from orbit. How insignificantly small even the largest of interstellar vessels was.

After being reassigned from the megacarrier MDNV-16-42 HES Omniscient to the MDNV-13-98-XP HES Estella, Komaeda held the admiral responsible in contempt and has shown a regular behaviour of rebellion.

    Psyche Eval.
Komaeda shows strange behaviour that seems to cause trouble for the admiral. Still, she seems to be efficient enough. Her skill and ability to lead Assault Squadron 2. Even seems to get along with the bomber pilots, and often cooperates with the dropship teams. Surprisingly, Claudie Ceour seems to hold the pilot's respect.

Komaeda has made very clear her distaste for Commander Vasilyev. However, it seems they can get along when it comes to the reality of war. Komaeda is very aggressive against the Admiral and Captain, along with the Commander, Chief Engineer, and has made rude comments toward myself. I'd originally thought to report her unfit for duty due to her behaviour, but her confidence and ability to do her job despite lack of cooperation shows she can keep a clear head and separate her odd grudge against authority from her duties.

    MELISSA SHARPE (LT)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Sharpe has taken the usual route as far as VAS pilots go. Went to flight school, trained for 0G operations. Though, Sharpe had initially aspired to pilot a troop transport for large-scale planetside operations. When testing came, Sharpe found that instead of prospering in the cockpit of a Rook, she instead excelled in the cramped cockpit of an Aquila. She has also shown aptitude for larger craft such as the bulky Manta, or even some medium bombers. When first posted on the Omniscient, Sharpe had sternly requested that she be put along the Orca transport pilots, but as she had become an acquaintance of Komaeda's, and learned more about the process of being involved with SuVV programs, Sharpe instead came to be content with a role as a bomber pilot.

When Komaeda transferred to the Estella, Sharpe followed, and quickly took to the roles available. In this case, there had only been room left for Aquila pilots, as Komaeda had demanded a restructure of her wing to accommodate her preferred composition of combat roles.
    Psyche Eval.

Having met Sharpe, I actually came to enjoy her passion in the military, but also her love for other people. It's really refreshing to meet somebody with such a positive outlook on her position here. Especially as a VAS pilot. I rarely have much time with her, since I've cleared her from mandatory checks, and she mostly only comes to see how I'm doing. But, I do have her come in after missions, and I've checked on her out of my own interest on missions when they've lost a pilot or two. Especially ones that might be close to Lieutenant Sharpe. She cares about her friends, and I've observed her reaction to loss. I often recommend her at least three days personal leave aboard the ship on such occasions, which is usually spent drinking with the other pilots over the fall of their comrades.

Sharpe is a fine addition to the Estella's VAS team, and from what I've seen of her coordination with Komaeda, I think she would have made an excellent transport pilot, had she more freedom over her career.

    EDEN MILLERS (LT)
    Played by:PsycoticCone

    - Lieutenant Millers’ training had started into an analytical division after highschool had recommended her to an officer position to continue on for college. The VAS Flight Academy requested transfers from the analytical program to create new strategies for quick-drop units. After some pilots had challenged her to a VR combat simulation, Millers was adopted quickly into the pilot culture and was pulled into a program to be trained to fly ‘Hummingbird’ interceptors. Instead, she was later pulled to the Aquila program, while still going through the analytical program as well.

Due to her unorthodox training route, she was requested into service for operating an Orca. Although this involved some intense and extremely invasive prep, Millers was pushed to join the SuVV unit due to lack of supply of specialized pilots in the field.

    ANETA STASIAK (LT)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - After having applied for and failed an analytics program, Stasiak turned to hopes for a calm position on an escort. Instead, Stasiak was requested at the VAS flight academy to learn not how to fly, but how to operate technical instruments. It was here that Stasiak showed her affinity for adaptive and quick responses. She was later put under testing for marksmanship, and scored an across the board average for all ranges and weapon types.

Her professor at the VAS flight academy recommended her for a position in SuVV as a tech anylist. She was turned down again, due to lack of need for specialists, but this got her name in the SuVV database. She was offered a job as an analyst aboard the new MDNV-13-98-XP HES Estella, and took it without hesitation. However, the ship itself had been over crewed, and she was instead offered a pseudo SuVV position, once records had been shown Stasiak had sufficient scores from the flight academy, to be put in the cockpit of a VAS craft. Of course, she was put on as an analyst, not a pilot. Instead, she sits in the front seat, overseeing the technical end of operating a SuVV Orca VAS Craft.

    KÄTE EHMAN (CAPT)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Ehman started her career with the minority. An old outcasted culture of genetically engineered humans from the HES past as the UGC. Having struggled due to her origins, Ehman has struggled to keep up in her field, but a guest mentor in her field had pointed her out of the crowd to bring her on board as the captain of the new experimental dreadnought, MDNV-13-98-XP in his fleet. She's proven herself successful in her time serving under him. A very effective strategist, using the ship and even offering input to fleet strategies in ways most of her equals find to be ridiculous and overimaginative, yet have worked consistently.

Ehman has displayed motherly guidance and comfort to her people in private and encouraged more personal interactions among her crew. This has eased the atmosphere on the Estella and raised morale. Most who work close to her are deeply loyal and cooperate smoothly.

    Psyche Eval.
Specifically, Commander Vasilyev has shown an odd comfort around Ehman, and it's actually rather enjoyable to be around her in my own opinion. She's a welcoming figure, but she still holds the bridge firm. It's quite the transition to watch the warm woman turn to stern commands. Her past has given her a perspective not to discriminate among her crew. She possesses strong morals and acts on them. Ehman demands respect of her peers and returns it as deserved. I could see no better choice for the captain of the HES Estella than this shining example of a captain.

    AALRIK STASSEN (ADM)
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Admiral Stassen is young for his rank, but he's earned it through a push most admirals refuse to make. To push the frontlines against the Vek threat, as well as cooperate with the other discovered civilizations. He's a strong advocate for xenophilic practices. He's been pulled into his rank for his ideals, alongside his strategic profession. Unlike other admirals on his level, he actually pushes active progress on necessary fronts rather than sit around content with his position, only taking risks when it's in their favour and has huge benefits.

    Psyche Eval.
I've only sat with Admiral Stassen a handful of times. Normally, I've pressed more aggressively to reserve a higher ranking officer's time, but what time I have had with him has left a solid impression of his abilities and his personality. His time is far better spent doing his work, commanding the fleet. I'd recommend him to a higher rank if it weren't for the fact it would put him in a position to push papers, rather than command vessels.

    Medical Personnel

    IRIS SCHNYDER
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Schnyder is the ship's psychological specialist. Schnyder is in charge of psyche evaluations on board the MDNV-13-98-XP HES Estella, over Admiral Stassen and Captain Ehman. Schnyder originally resided over AI research and the effects of more advanced AI in human-like bodies around infants. She was pulled off when Chief Engineer Izobretatel reported the launch of a project for new social AI to be used on vessels for long-term isolated voyages.

The program had been closed, but Stassen kept her on board to act as the psychological personnel. She still likes to poke in on Chief Engineer Izobretatel's work, but she tends to be rather loaded in work as many of the field personnel come to her in their free time.

    ANE HOLST
    Played by:SmileyChesh

    - Head medical personnel. Holst came from roots on an outer colony. Most on that colony have defected and claimed loyalty to Vek, which has brought some controversial views on her being in charge of the med bay on the Estella. However, Stassen brought her on board, with Ehman's agreement, for the fact that she comes from enemy roots.

Having experience in rural areas requiring emergency care in odd ways, Holst has skills working in dirty and harsh environments. With her background from a Vek-empathetic environment, Holst has a more personal view against violence. She's more biased about the workings of the military. Negatively. But Stassen sees this as a bonus, seeing as she needs to have a stern grasp on her own authority as the head medical personnel.

    Psyche Eval.
Holst has left, let's call it an impression. She's pretty blunt, which is actually appreciated, but she seems to be a bit unstable. Oddly lacking in empathy, for a military medical officer. They tend to work quite close and form bonds with the people they'll inevitably have to work on.

    VAS Craft

    Interceptors

    'Humming Bird' Interceptors

    - Capable of both vacuum combat and atmospheric combat, the 'Humming Birds' are very agile attack craft. While lacking in firepower or armour, the 'Humming Birds' are hard to hit and have incredibly high acceleration in all vectors. They tend to hold very light weapons, primarily the simpler coilgun platform more common to foot soldiers and personnel weapons. The HVCR platform allows its high fire rate and capacity, but other than taking out other sensitive craft, and disabling transports or bombers, the 'Humming Bird' lacks any notable output.
    Armament:
    2 x HVCR-3-HE (High-Velocity-Coil-Rifle 3cm Calibre High Explosive Variant)

    'Dragonfly' Interceptors

    - 'Dragonflies' are the more common anti-fighter interceptor. While they themselves are armed with only a single HVCR, they also carry a small reconnaissance package, and two light payload guided missiles ideal for knocking out most enemy fighters. 'Dragonflies' are incapable of atmospheric manoeuvring and have higher forward thrust, but they're designed with very powerful short bursts in other vectors.
    Armament:
    1 x HVCR-3-HE (High-Velocity-Coil-Rifle 3cm Calibre High Explosive Variant)
2 x 'Mosquito' Guided Vacuum Missiles

    Light Fighters

    Medium Fighters

    Persuant

    - Making up the majority of attack VAS craft, the Persuants carry a single rear-mounted AI-controlled dual-oriented HVGAC, two gimballed front HVGACs, and two missile pods for those heavier targets. These are very effective escort craft, seeing as they perform excellently in atmosphere, and where they can't simply spin around, the rear turret provides coverage behind them. The missile pods can be fitted to take out other craft, or to strike at ground targets as a form of air support.
    Armament:
    2 x HVGAC-5-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 5cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    1 x Turret-Mounted Dual HVGAC-5-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 5cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    1 x Executioner Missile Pods (6/Pod)

    Aquila

    - The less commonly chosen attack craft for carriers and support vessels. The Aquila is a high mobility fighter, with strong offensive capabilities. While the Aquila can barely take a hit, it makes up for it in two dual-oriented HVGAC (High Velocity Gauss Assisted Cannons), and stowed-away missile packages to intercept and disable heavier or more agile opponents. Aquila fighters are rare to see deployed, but they can dominate anything in the air, given a pilot is skilled enough to keep it under control, and use it creatively to avoid taking hits.
    Armament:
    2 x Dual HVGAC-5-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 5cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    2 x Tackler Missile Pods (8/Pod)
    1 x Executioner Missile Pods (6/Pod)

    Heavy Fighters

    Khishchnik VAS Assault Fighter

    - The majority of heavy VAS craft is made up of Khishchnik Assault Fighters. Dominating in both vacuum and atmosphere, Khishchnik possess two gimballed forward-facing HVGAC (High Velocity Gauss Assisted Cannons) and an AI-controlled rear turret. Two missile pods allow for various roles, including taking out heavier crafts, laying mines, tackling faster opponents, overwhelming point-defense, and bombing runs. The other strength of these fighters come from their AI-controlled individual point-defense that allows active missile-interception for itself and allies.
    Armament:
    2 x Gimballed HVGAC-6-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 6cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    2 x Multipurpose Pods (4-12/Pod)
    5 x 8,000-Watt Missile-interception Laser

    Senshi Vacuum Assault Fighter

    - Senshi Assault Fighters while not used in large numbers, are vital to VAS combat ops. A single Senshi is armed with three powerful HVGAC (High Velocity Gauss Assisted Cannons) in dual orientation, a selection of multipurpose missiles, sensor arrays, recon packages, and various electronic warfare devices all meant to disable and destroy heavier armoured opponents. The Senshi fighters lack any noteable agility, and absolutely cannot function in atmosphere, but the amount of firepower a single Senshi can provide, along with support through blinding Vek missiles or fighters' sensors, the Senshi forces its opposers to fight through good old fashioned aim and reaction, while it can comfortably use its onboard AI's gunner software to knock out select components.
    Armament:
    1 x Turret-Mounted Dual HVGAC-5-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 5cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    2 x Multipurpose Missile Pods (6-10/Pod)
    1 x Tackler Missile Pods (6/Pod)

    Light Bombers

    Medium Bombers

    Scorpion

    - As the designation implies, these bombers are relatively small for the potent payload they carry. Scorpions carry payloads of Devastator missiles, meant to rupture capital ship hull plating, and disable specific functional components. Blind sensors, knock out Gauss Cannons, take advantage of airlocks- Scorpions are precision utility units. A dreadnought hardly scathed from combat, can be sent retreating with no hope of escape, should these bombers manage to disable entire AI grids and sections of arrays detrimental to functionality. However, while its tail gun is incredibly lethal to fighters straying into its angle of fire, it is limiting and leaves Scorpions open to be crushed by superior mobility craft.
    Armament:
    2 x Turret-Mounted Triple HVGAC-5-IPCT (High-Velocity-Gauss-Assisted-Cannon 5cm Calibre Impact Variant)
    1 x Tackler Missile Pods (6/Pod)
    2 x Devastator Missile Pods (8/Pod)

    - The 'Orca' crafts are the primary specialized personnel transports for SuVV Spec Ops. They are rather clumsy in vacuum, but atmospheric settings allow the winged transports superior mobility. The omni-vectored craft can swing low into heavy fire and evacuate the hotzone just as fast, having deployed its entire garrison of highly trained SuVV specialists. When performing evac, this transport can defend its people, and lay covering fire on the retreat.

    Rook Transport

    - When in need of mass troop transportation through violent hotzones, the 'Rook' troop transport is a mobile fortress. The 'Rook' Transport is capable of carrying roughly thirty men, and with high capacity HVCR mounts and lots of cargo space for mobile installations, the 'Rook' can land in the middle of combat, and deploy troops with access to cover and fire support.

    - The Honey Bee transports are more commonly known as the work horses of the navy. Usually used to transport cargo and more efficient movement of inactive personnel, the Honey Bees are seen as a utility vessel. In reality, these machines are also heavily used to transport cargo to ground troops, as well as carry entire assault vehicles from orbital capital ships.
