About

  • Antoidor is a self-sustained, self-run monarchy, governed by its own set of laws separate from any other country or governing body. The country is settled directly in the center of the trade routes of France and England, just on the edge of the border of France (Between Orlèans and Paris). Antoidor citizens have unlimited access to both countries and the English Channel.

The capital of Antoidor is the self named The Village of Antoidor, in which the Sovereign Queen of the country, [Link her RPR here] lives and rules from.

Most born citizens of Antoidor speak a combination of French and English, one fluent in only one would not be able to understand them completely, likely only able to pick up bits and pieces of their home language. This combination of languages is what is known as the "common" tongue in Antoidor. (OOC Note: I.e. When you're typing, presumably in English and your character is from Antoidor, it can be assumed that there are French bits thrown in there and those who are not familiar may have trouble understanding them.)

    Government

Antoidor is a strict monarchy and has been ruled by the Hart's since the establishment of the country. All laws are written and reviewed by the Sovereign Queen and her advisors and set into action immediately.

Breaking of laws is either punished by time in the dungeons, public humiliation (time in the stocks, or beheading, depending on severity.) Naturally, not all laws are strictly enforced at all times.

The current laws of Antoidor are as follows and are available in print to any and all visitors and citizens of Antoidor. They are also posted in a variety of places around The Village. (In Character Laws):
It is the duty of citizens and Visitors of Antoidor, as called on by The Reigning Sovereign Queen, to adhere to the following laws upon threat of appropriate punishment, deemed fit by the Ever Watchful God and the Sovereign Queen herself.

    1) The act of Treason, actions including but not limited to, attempts to overthrow the government, attempted murder of The Sovereign, and any action that can be classified, by the Sovereign herself, as betrayal to Antoidor is punishable by death by decapitation.

    2) The act of Slander, actions including but not limited to, speaking ill of the royal family, the Soverign and members of esteemed nobility will result in a minimum fine of 100 Golden Coins, paid directly to the Royal Guards.

    3) Assault, physical actions against The Royal Family, including Royal Guards, will be punishable by 3 days in the stocks and / or a half hanging.

    4) Actions of Disorderly Conduct, including, but not limited to, Disturbing the Peace, Inappropriate Garb in public places where The Royal Family may be offended and over-intoxication will be punished by a minimum fine of 25 Golden Coins.

    5) Adultery, the wandering of a woman from her marriage bed into the bed of another, may be punished by public flogging and / or 2 days in the stocks.

    6) Theft, the obtaining of property by illegal means from one person to another, will result in the person, or persons, forfeiting their hands and / or public flogging.

    7) All persons, unless excused by reason of their rank or the amount of their property must be enrolled in a tithing, a monthly deposit of 3% of their monthly income towards the upkeep of The Village of Antoidor.

Citizens do well to remember these laws and follow them for the good of Antoidor.

    Foreign Relations and Military

Antoidor is allied positively with both France and England and considered to be a peaceful middle ground between both countries. Diplomats from both countries often visit for tea with the Sovereign. Relations with the Spanish are also positive and the occasional bit of Spanish can be spoken and those of Spanish descent may feel welcome as well.

Antoidor has no military force of its own, beyond the Royal Guard who keep the town safe from its own criminals. France and England both lend military support to The Village in times of crisis.

    Economy
The main method of currency is gold, coming in Gold, Silver and Copper. Gold can sometimes be exchanged for paper bills and English Pounds as well as French Euro are also accepted.

Chief exports include Crops grown in The Village of Antoidor, Wine, Jewelry, Fabric and Clothing.
    Environment

Antoidor experiences all four seasons throughout the year, colder in the latter half of the year from about September to February and warmer on the former half from abour March to August.

Weather shifts accordingly with the seasons, pleasant in the spring, albeit those with allergies might suffer due to the crops, balmy and sometimes subject to heat wave in the summer, pleasantly cool in the fall and cold in the winter, sometimes subject to snowfall.

Dragons, both of the anthromorphic and feral variety are quite frequent around Antoidor and during the breeding season (Summer), hatchlings tend to invade the Village. The village itself is sometimes plagued with invasions and attacks of larger feral dragons.

Deer are also very frequent, and a good portion of the natives of Antoidor, especially the noble class, have at least some deer genes in them. Whether it is phenotypically present and how strongly it is varies from family to family, generation to generation and person to person.

Perytons are currently the species of the reigning class.
    Fashion
The general standard of beauty in Antoidor is entirely based on the Royal Family, and most natives of Antoidor have been conditioned to believe that pale skin, both amongst males and females, is beautiful.

Female fashion trends among the nobility tend to follow directly from the Royal Family's female branch (The Queen and Princess). Females tend to don powdered faces and very intricate hairstyles. Clothing among noble females is not practical at all, including heavy use of expensive jewelry, petticoats, wigs, hats and fans daily.

Male fashion trends tend to follow the Sovereign. Noble men are slightly more practical than noble females, although no less adorned. They too, may adorn powdered faces and wigs, though in most cases, these are reserved for special occasions. Daily wear includes a great number of accessories, the shinier, more expensive looking, and more extravagant, the better. Currently, the fashion trend among hair is long, to mimic the current Sovereign. This may prove to be a problem, as the previous King sported short hair.

Working class citizens generally cannot afford the expensive fabrics used to make noble clothing, and it would be frowned upon for citizens other than nobility to wear similar clothing. Working class clothing is generally much more simple and less adorned than that of the nobility and royalty.

Peasant Class Clothing is usually made from rough hewn material, such as tweed and burlap and may, occasionally, be made from cotton, if they can afford it. Shoes are a luxury amongst the peasants, the royalty giving out old shoes to the poor once every five years.
